Most of the filming will take on the island continent&#8217;s Gold Coast.<\/p>\n<p>Ron&#8217;s Imagine Entertainment has also recently struck a &#8220;first look&#8221; deal with Apple Studios to produce films for the Apple Original Films, which makes movies for streaming on Apple TV+. Gus was hospitalized with COVID-19 during the same time. Following his COVID-19 battle, Gus is currently doing\u00a0 rehab and receiving care at his son&#8217;s home. Please continue to keep Maggie and Gus in your prayers!<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/maggie-quotcharlene-darlingquot-peterson-needs-help?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&amp;fbclid=IwAR0p-yGFoSsZJZPMuoCvrianOfSiZVipY7uzCMwfRPIOWAtlsULQtV3r5lg\">Maggie&#8217;s GoFundMe page<\/a>, <\/strong>which Maggie&#8217;s family has set up to help with some of Maggie&#8217;s and Gus&#8217;s significant and uncovered medical expenses (including multiple surgeries) during the last couple of years, is still active. Maggie is extremely grateful for all of the generous donations received.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of big expenditures, a 1966 Austin Mini Moke, owned and loved for five decades by <strong>Jackie Joseph<\/strong> and the late <strong>Ken Berry<\/strong> and their family, sold at auction in January for $24,200. The premiere may well still happen around mid-May, but no official announcement has yet been made. The producers are also working on details for broader distribution, probably including some combination of theaters, broadcast, streaming, and DVDs. The song has been a holiday tradition among Mayberry fans since its release in 2011. (Note: It&#8217;s a tranquil listening experience for any time of year!)<\/p>\n<p>Jim died at home in Brentwood, Tenn., on February 3. He was 77. Beyond Mayberry, Jim is best-known for writing &#8220;Midnight Train to Georgia, the chart-topping, Grammy-winner for Gladys Knight &amp; The Pips in 1974. His &#8220;Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)&#8221; also won a Grammy for the group that same year. That could spell trouble!)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>At first, the idea of chapters being started by Mayberry fans other than humans gave us paws. We know it could be a bone of contention for some. But upon further reflection, we realized that there is nothing in the TAGSRWC bylaws (Bylaws? What bylaws? There are bylaws?) that says that chapters have to be started by people. (Note: Don&#8217;t tell Dixie and the gang that they&#8217;re not people!)<\/p>\n<p>Dixie and her pals invite other TAGS fans (whether dogs, humans or even&#8211;dare we say?&#8211; cats) to join their chapter. (Yeah, like cats would ever join anything any more than giraffes would! Shazam would gleefully whistle the TAGS theme song and also attended multiple Mayberry events over the years&#8211;not so much as a performer, but just as a fan\u00a0 who enjoyed being around other fans and meeting the stars.<\/p>\n<p>We know we&#8217;re potentially unleashing a furry flurry (and an untethered feathered kerfuffle) of chapters being started by non-humans. So, we encourage\u00a0 all prospective non-human founders of chapters to offer some sort of documentation of their devotion to watching TAGS, just as Dixie has done.\u00a0 In other words, we&#8217;re begging for some more adorable photos!<\/p>\n<p>We know we&#8217;re risking &#8220;jumping the shar pei&#8221; with this marked new territory for chapter founders. At least initially, we&#8217;ll probably draw the line of acceptance somewhere around goldfish, which we know might make for some mad worms, but we&#8217;ve got enough backbone to withstand the flak from that, which is more than we can say for worms.<\/p>\n<p>Whether by humans or other creatures, starting a chapter of TAGSRWC is really easy to do. Just pick a name that hasn&#8217;t already been selected by another group. There are indications that chapter activities will start getting cranked back up to something more like normal by the time of our May issue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mayberry<\/strong> chapter (Knoxville, Tenn.) published its regular <em>Mayberry Minutes<\/em> newsletter in January.\u00a0 It was another 16-pager, chock-full of news. Highlights include a report on Mayberry Days<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.surryarts.org\/mayberrydays\/tickets.html\">&reg;<\/a><\/strong> and the <em>Mayberry Man<\/em> movie in which several chapter members participated, both onscreen and as part of the crew.
