Ron himself is nominated for a Grammy for a documentary of his own, <em>The Beatles: Eight Days a Week&#8211;The Touring Years<\/em>.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Ron Howard <\/strong>is enjoying high praise from critics and fans for his and Imagine Entertainment&#8217;s &#8220;Mars&#8221; docu-drama on the National Geographic Channel. And the company&#8217;s &#8220;Genius&#8221; series is also in production.\u00a0 It&#8217;s will be Nat Geo&#8217;s first-ever fully scripted drama. The first season, starring Geoffrey Rush as Albert Einstein premieres in April.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There&#8217;s also serious deal-making in the works to bring 1982&#8217;s <em>Night Shift<\/em>, which Ron directed as Imagine&#8217;s first feature-film release, to Broadway.\u00a0 As a musical!\u00a0 Stay tuned for more on that.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And wheels are back in motion to get everything worked out for production to begin for Season 5 of &#8220;Arrested Development.&#8221;\u00a0 The desire is there among all parties, and schedules are being checked for availability.\u00a0 Ron will continue to narrate the popular series that&#8217;s now part of the Netflix family.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Betty Lynn<\/strong> (Thelma Lou) was a bit under the weather during Christmas, but she has been doing much better in the new year.\u00a0 She&#8217;ll be back greeting fans on January 20th at the Andy Griffith Museum in Mount Airy, N.C. (where she lives) for her regular monthly session there.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Maggie Peterson<\/strong> (Charlene Darling) also had a health hiccup in December, but ever the trouper she quickly recovered and made her way across the country toward her Mayberry Christmas show in Johnson City, Tenn.\u00a0 That was the plan, anyway.\u00a0 After numerous weather-related flight delays, she finally got on a flight to Charlotte.\u00a0 But then her connection from there to Johnson City was delayed several times before finally being cancelled.\u00a0 So, Maggie just got back on a plane and flew back home.\u00a0 She had to laugh about the whole ordeal&#8230;but only later!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Nevertheless the Mayberry Christmas show went on with <strong>Rodney Dillard<\/strong> (the guitar-playing Darling boy) and the Dillards and David &#8220;Mayberry Deputy&#8221; Browning.\u00a0 By all accounts, it was another wonderful performance of this special holiday tradition. He took a genuine interest in people and took the time to learn more about them. By age of 14, he was an assistant manager of a theater. After his time in the\u00a0Royal Navy, including dangerous duty on a minesweeper during\u00a0World War II, he resumed his acting career. Bernard has the distinction of being the only actor to be appear in both <em>A Night to Remember<\/em>\u00a0(1958, as\u00a0 crow&#8217;s nest lookout Frederick Fleet, who has the memorable line, &#8220;Iceberg dead ahead, sir!&#8221;) and 1997&#8217;s global blockbuster <em>Titanic<\/em> in which he played survivor Col. (As should they also be in his obituary.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Jeff was born Raphael Levine in New York City on October 15, 1926. He hit the ground filming and he enjoyed a fulfilling career of steady and noteworthy work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">He also directed numerous stage plays, including many starring his wife. He also performed with her in a production of <em>Love Letters<\/em> at Bowling Green State University, as well as a production of <em>On the Divide<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Jeff also was generous in sharing his knowledge.\u00a0 He was a Distinguished Professor of Theatre Arts at his alma mater.\u00a0 He also taught at the University of Southern California, UCLA and Vanderbilt University. Vince Carter on &#8220;Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.&#8221;<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As visits from an IRS agent go, William Christopher would be about the best a person one could hope for.\u00a0 And it turned out that there were no worries about him as a doctor, either.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Born in Evanston, Ill., on October 20, 1932, Bill graduated with a B.A. in Drama from Wesleyan University in 1954.\u00a0 His first acting job was with the Barnstormers Theatre in New Hampshire. And their giant, thrice-annual <em>Mayberry Minutes<\/em> newsletter is being mailed this month.
