Ron also is very involved again this year with Canon’s Project Imagination, which this time around is encouraging people to make a movie trailer from their own videos and photos. The first day of spring found Betty Lynn<\/strong>\u00a0 at her monthly meet-and-greet at the Andy Griffith Museum in Mount Airy.\u00a0 As always, there was a strong turnout of fans who were thrilled to have a chance to have a visit with Betty and to get an autographed photo and their picture taken with her.<\/p>\n

\"FRIENDLY<\/a>

A specific site has been selected for the Don Knotts<\/strong> statue in his hometown of Morgantown, W.V. Fundraising for the statue has met its goal (thanks in part to generous donations from TAGSRWC members).\u00a0 Additional donations received will go toward upkeep of the statue and the surrounding grounds.\u00a0 Current plans are for a festival and unveiling in the summer of 2016. (There will also be preliminary festivities this July, including Karen Knotts<\/strong> performing her one-woman show in Morgantown.\u00a0 See Floyd’s bulletin board above.)<\/p>\n

\"FilmFeestBig\"<\/a>The 18th Annual George Lindsey<\/strong> UNA Film Festival was another big success in early March. Despite being held on the heels of one of the big snow\/ice storms that hit the region, the festival on the campus of the University of North Alabama (George’s alma mater) in Florence drew good crowds, had several interesting panel discussions (including the keynote panel on music and film with some of Hollywood’s top music supervisors) and selected 30 independent films to show out of the almost 3,000 that were submitted.<\/p>\n

\"ElinorMeTVpromo\"<\/a>Elinor Donahue<\/strong> participated in a TAGS promo for MeTV that’s currently in rotation on the channel and can also be viewed online at\u00a0www.metvnetwork.com\/videos.<\/a>\u00a0 There’s also a bunch of other creative and fun promos for TAGS and other TV shows on the MeTV site.<\/p>\n

James Best<\/strong> (Jim Lindsey) has been doing some leisure traveling this month before getting into full swing with his schedule of appearances and performances.\u00a0 And he continues to create beautiful paintings.\u00a0 Keep up with James and his art at www.jamesbest.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Margaret Kerry<\/strong> (Bess Muggins and Helen Scobey) expects her much anticipated autobiography will be available in May. It should be fascinating, just like her life!<\/p>\n

**** Chapter Update **** <\/strong><\/h1>\n

No new chapters have launched since our report in the\u00a0last\u00a0eBullet,<\/em> so we’re holding at 1,428 chapters that have been founded since TAGSRWC started in 1979.\u00a0 The big questions of the moment is, Where will the first new chapter of 2015 be located and What name will the founders come up with?<\/p>\n

Starting a chapter of TAGSRWC is really easy to do.\u00a0 Just pick a name that hasn’t already been chosen (that’s really the challenging part!), and submit it with a list of your founding members by e-mail (to Goober@imayberry.com<\/strong>)<\/a> or by U.S. Mail to TAGSRWC’s HQ (118 16th Avenue South, PMB 146, Nashville, TN\u00a0 37203-3100<\/strong>).\u00a0 There’s a searchable list of chapter names that are already taken at www.tagsrwc.com<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Whether or not you start or join a local chapter, you can always join our online “Who’s Been Messin’ Up the Bulletin Board?” <\/strong>chapter. (It’s really quick and easy to do. Info is at tagsrwc.com<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

**** Merchandise Update ****<\/strong><\/h1>\n

We’re excited to have four brand new licensed T-shirts<\/a> to kick off the T-shirt-wearing season!\u00a0 Check them out below.\u00a0 But one of the biggest changes at Weaver’s is one you may not at first notice…at least not until you order something from us.<\/p>\n

That’s because, earlier this month and after 33 years, the retailing and order fulfillment part of Weaver’s (in other words, virtually all of what Weaver’s does) has moved from Nashville, Tenn., to Huntsville, Ala., where Jan <\/strong>and Allan Newsome<\/strong> have taken over the handling of all online orders for Weaver’s.<\/p>\n

The biggest thing about the change that will affect some shoppers is that shipments going to Alabama will now need to include payment of Alabama sales tax (drats!), and shipments going to Tennessee will no longer have to include Tennessee sales tax (hooray!).<\/p>\n

There will surely be other changes and enhancements to Weaver’s as Jan and Allan get comfortable with the Weaver’s reins.\u00a0 Weaver’s could not be in better hands going forward.\u00a0 (Jan has extensive experience in retail, and Allan was already the Weaver’s webmaster, as he also is for the whole family of TAGSRWC and imayberry.com sites, and others.)\u00a0 Weaver’s is lucky to be able to have this smooth transition to two such capable friends who are already familiar to and respected by so many Mayberry fans.<\/p>\n

TAGSRWC’s HQ will continue to be in Nashville. Things such as our printed and online newsletters (including The eBullet<\/em>) and chapter coordination will still be Goobered out of our Nashville home base.\u00a0 So, basically the main difference for now is that your Weaver’s shipments will come with a Huntsville postmark.<\/p>\n

**** Chapter News ****<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Mayberry Good Government League<\/strong> (Virginia Beach, Va.), one of our earliest chapters, checked in\u00a0 after our last issue to report that they’re still active and enjoying watching TAGS every night on MeTV.\u00a0 Now, that’s<\/em> good government!<\/p>\n

“Damp Under There…Could Be Spiders”<\/strong> (Papillion, Nebr.) wrote to say hey.\u00a0 That’s all.\u00a0 They didn’t have any tales to spin about a “Spider Bite!”<\/strong>\u00a0 But then again, that would be a different chapter (Thomasville, Ga.)\u00a0 Meanwhile, there’s no recent word from Glencoe, Ala., which is surprising because “If I Was a Spider, That’s Where I’d Go.”\u00a0<\/strong> But enough stalling, “Gomer, Get Down There with Them Spiders!”<\/strong>\u00a0 (Winston-Salem, N.C.).<\/p>\n

Barney<\/strong> chapter (Greensboro, N.C.) has started 2015 with its usual schedule of regular monthly meetings.\u00a0 Chapter leader Neal Brower<\/strong> will also be resuming his monthly lectures at the Andy Griffith Museum in June (see Floyd’s bulletin board for the schedule).<\/p>\n

Ditto on the regular monthly meetings by Mayberry<\/strong> chapter (Knoxville, Tenn.).<\/p>\n

Several chapters have dropped by our Nashville HQ amid the various winter storms.\u00a0 Remembering Mayberry<\/strong> (Chillicothe, Ohio) was heading south when they came through town.\u00a0 Mother Figure<\/strong> (Huntsville, Ala.) arrived with an empty Stevens truck, but left loaded up with Bert Miller’s stand. And Mavis Neff<\/strong> (Durham, N.C.) visited for a couple days while doing some library research.\u00a0 (We have to admit that Mavis Neff doing actual reading in a library is hard to imagine.)<\/p>\n

We were recently looking through some of our old files and found this interesting chapter report.\u00a0 We thought it would be fun to share it again.\u00a0 Yes, that’s right–a rerun…from 23 years ago!<\/p>\n
