October 20, 2025 - Msg 120980: So happy to hear that Maude is doing ok.

Billy Ray, you know old Andy was not really a "rules keeper". ha..there are alot of those kind of things that go on in the show cause "when it comes to people, instead of going by the book, its best to go by the heart" (anyway, pretty close to what Barney said. :)

Happy you had a nice trip to Santa Barbara, MDC. The California coast is one of the greatest scenes in America. I felt so much emotion the first time I saw it at age 19 that I cried. I thought I was just a sap until my 70 yr old Aunt Della did the same thing later when she saw it. By the way, thank you so much for the prayers.

I would like to please add another prayer request if I may; You all probably remember my late friend, Cinthia, who died from breast cancer several years ago. Well, her ex husband sent me a message today telling me that their daughter, Julia, who is 44 was just diagnosed with breast cancer. It just breaks my heart. She is a beautiful, precious and loving woman who saw all that her poor mother endured for years and she is afraid, of course. Her father asked me to reach out to her and I will be doing that. Please pray that I will say the right things to comfort her and that she will go through treatment with minimal difficulty. Thank you so much. Even if its just a one time prayer, God knows. Love you all.

Boo

As you know, myself sister was recently diagnosed with breast cancer too.She will undergo a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction sometime after the end of the month. I wish I could be with her but can't get out West for several reasons. Again,I ask for prayers. My daughter's health has not been good either lately and I'd appreciate prayers for her too. Thanks,y'all.

MDC,I'm glad you enjoyed Santa Barbara and wish you safe travels home.I never made it to Santa Barbara but enjoyed several CA beaches many years ago- loved Laguna Beach!

Good to get a report on Big Maude- glad she's ok!

Well,Billy Ray- what about the time Andy and Barney led the " loaded goat" out of the town limits of Mayberry? Who was minding the store with the sheriff and his deputy out of town?!

October 21, 2013 - Msg 95053: Dear porch friends! I am so sorry and sad to have to
Report such news but I am not sure this has reached our porch family. I just learned from my Facebook page thar our beloved Rev. Rocky Morris died yesterday of an apparent sudden heart attack. I made sure it was indeed our Rev . Before posting this information,. I am so shocked and sad right now! Not sure what to do excerpt pray for his sweet wife and daughter who were the love of his life next to music and his deep abiding love of The Lord. If any one has any additional information please let us know.

October 21, 2013 - Msg 95055: WHAT happened.....SPOT

October 21, 2013 - Msg 95056: Oh, dear Lord! How I wanted this to be an error, but it is not. I'm not on Facebook, but Eloise is, and she verified it for me. I trust you, Maude, but I just wanted so badly for it to be a mistake. I am in shock. He was just here! Eloise and I spent a lovely day with him on Friday, and all the family enjoyed his company on Friday night, except David, who was out of town. Later, Rocky and I sat in my living room and laughed and talked after my family left, and had such a lovely time. He was a kind and gentle man, with a loving heart, a sweet sense of humor, and was a joy to be with. I feel like I've lost a brother, and I suppose I have. We all have, a brother in Christ. I'll have to notify the folks at the church - they're going to be very upset, especially our Missions pastor. They had formed a warm friendship, and Bob is going to be very hurt by this.

I keep asking "why?" Ironically, REV and I had just had a little discussion about that while he was here. It came up in a conversation about my little grandson, the one that didn't live. I confessed to asking why, and he said he believed that God expects and permits us to ask why, when something happens that we don't understand. It's not the same as questioning God. It's not permitted to question God's wisdom or dispute His motives, but it is natural to want to know the reasons. Sometimes we get to know, sometimes we don't, but He understands when we ask why.

Oh, God. Please quiet my spirit in this moment, and help me to understand and accept. We have lost a dear friend, one we loved as a brother, and it is hard. The coming days are going to be so difficult for us, and a thousand times more difficult for his family. Please be very close to them, hold them in your hand, and let them feel the love and peace that Rocky would want them to know. In that name that is above every other name, Jesus' blessed name. Amen.

I felt like it was a sign from Rev,letting me know he made it Home. I was able to take a pic and I recall sharing it on Facebook. some of you may remember seeing it. I hope it comes up in my FB memories tomorrow. If so, I'll share it again,as I have no idea what happened to the original pic I took. That was a sad time, and my heart truly hurt for Romeena then, because my goodness-Rev had just spent time with her in her home!
That's really nice that Rev sent you two of his guitar picks, G-F. Nice to have his cds with you as you travel to Mayberry. I don't have any of his cds,but do pull up his videos that are on Youtube from time to time.

October 25, 2025 - Msg 120998: Hello Hazel, always good to see you here. I miss the old porch days when so many gathered here.

Been on call this weekend and been busy. Hope you all are doing well.

I stopped into SUbway to see Erin today and have a sandwich for lunch. She is pretty down these days and just exhausted. She looked like a racoon with dark circles around her eyes. It seems like she works all the time and her Rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia are acting up. As her mama I wish I could just rescue her from everything but I cant.
She told me today that she got a letter today saying they would not be receiving their SNAP benefits (which they just got this month)for the month of Novemeber because of the gov shut down. Ijust hope they can continue with WIC for the baby. I will make sure they eat but Bruce is still working without pay. I am so frustrated and angry with out government. Its not a government for the people anymore.

Well, I will put away the soapbox but I am still standing on one in my heart. lol

Better go get some of my computer work done.

October 26, 2025 - Msg 120999: Just some fun to chew on...the two shows crossed into one. And it would've been really fun to watch.

(Walnut Grove, Minnesota at Hanson's Mill)
Charles Ingalls: "Well Edwards, we get a couple more of these boards cut and loaded and we'll get this order finally finished."
Isiah Edwards: "'Bout time. Why is it when you come to the end of something you want to get done, it seems to drag that much slower? Ha! Ha! Ha!"
Ingalls (deep laugh)

About this time, Mrs. Foster comes walking across the street from the post office with a telegram in hand.

"Mrs. Foster: "Charles! I have a telegram here for you. I think it's what you and the town council have been waiting for!"
(Charles takes the telegram.)
Ingalls: (starts reading the telegram and a grin slowly comes across his face the more he reads).
Edwards: "Well you gonna keep it to yourself or keep grinning like a cat that ate the canary?"
Ingalls: "Isiah, we're going to have some law and order in Walnut Grove!"
Edwards: "Well go on!"
Ingalls: "It says (HAVE RECEIVED YOUR REQUEST AND WILL TAKE TRAIN TO WALNUT GROVE. STOP. WILL ARRIVE IN ONE MONTH. MY DEPUTY, BARNEY FIFE WILL ARRIVE ONE WEEK AFTER ME. STOP. SIGNED ANDREW TAYLOR.)
Ingalls: "Isiah, we better get to work on remodeling your old place into a courthouse and jail! We'll get Almonzo and Albert to help and see if Nels can donate some materials."
Edwards: "Banner day for Walnut Grove, Charles! Banner day!"

I wasn't going to follow this up with a full story, but thought it would be fun to think of.

October 27, 2025 - Msg 121000: Hey y'all- Boo,I knew when I saw your post on Facebook that it was Erin and I'm truly sorry she is struggling so,trying to take care of her little family and all this government shutdown stuff hits. Same with my girls.I worry so. I don't think I told you they moved to Upstate SC a few months ago for better opportunities.Because of the shutdown my daughter's job she applied for is on hold. This job is perfect for her right now as it allows her to care for Laci and another disabled person and get paid well. The friend she thought she could count on to watch Laci while she worked in the medical field ( which she still hopes to do eventually) let her down big time. So,this job is perfect for right now, only it's through a government agency so things are at a standstill.
Trying to help when I can but don't even let me get started on my situation. The shutdown and changes in health plans for 2026 are affecting me too. So sorry you have the added stress of worrying about your girl when Bruce isn't even getting paid right now. Life's just such a struggle anymore and it's hard to find joy but we can't give up. Sending love and prayers out for your family and please pray for us as well. Thanks, girlie. Love you.
Good to see Hazel back on the Porch and MDC, wow can you imagine " Mayberry Heaven" ?!
John Masters, can you believe that I have never watched "Little House On the Prairie "? I only recognize some of the folks in your story because my sister loved that show,so I'm kinda familiar with it. Never watched a single episode though. I think I'm going to,though. Better late than never!

October 28, 2025 - Msg 121001: Oh hey, John Master, it is fun to think about. I say we write an episode like we did a time or two in the past here on the porch.

What a supreme disappointment, Possum. I sure hope this thing ends soon and Your daughter is able to start that job. Where we live here near corpus christi, we have many federal workers who work on the navy base, Army depot, etc. and since the current admin took charge, it has been a circus of laying off people, hiring freezes, and now this government shut down. It is really messing with alot of people here. I am thankful that Bruce is the type to keep money in savings for unseen circumstances so we are ok right now but I just hope it ends before we run out and have to start using the credit cards. I hope the federal workers reimbursed but apparently even that is up in the air now. I have a friend that I grew up with that works a federal job as a mechanic and he is my age. He got laid off after i dont know how many years. It really stinks. There, thats all im going to say about it.

Thank you for those prayers, Possum. They are so appreciated. I will be praying for you and your family, too.

Today is Bruce's birthday but we thought it better to not go out and celebrate. I am cooking dinner here at home and went to the store to find a cake for him at the bakery but they were so expensive I decided to make one myself. It doesnt look as pretty but I think it will taste just fine.

Possum, you have been missing out, Girl! Little House is good. Earlier episodes are the best but its all pretty good. There are a few episodes that I thought were cheezy or kind of silly but I'm telling you, the goings on with that mean Mrs Oleson and that spoiled Nellie are worth watching. lol

Its just not an easy time in life and being a caretaker to a spouse who needs help is one of the hardest thing a person can do. God bless you and give you strength. I know i have said it so many times but I wish we lived closer so I could come and help you out.

I am trying to live moment by moment and put things in God's hands. One thing I am certain about is that prayer is something God loves and we should never underestimate how God will answer and use those prayers for His glory and good. I went yesterday to Nashville to the Country Music Hall of Fame to see Donna Fargo. She had a good crowd and when she mentioned being from Mt. Airy, NC she got a round of applause. She talked about some of her biggest hits and the awards that she won for songwriting and singing in the 1970's. Being interested in writing, I enjoyed how she expressed for each song a lesson she learned in life that related to that song. I thought that was fantastic. She has had two strokes and the MS, but her mind was still sharp and she was an encouraging soul. She showed a great love for God and country. Despite all our problems in the world, we have so much to be thankful for including the Andy Griffith Show and all its wonderful lessons that are everlasting. I thank The Lord for all you folks. Just remember the way time flies, it will be Mayberry Meetup time again before you know it! Julie

Hi Folks, sorry it has been a while since I posted, but I have been super-busy
with volunteering at church. My goodness, last Sunday was our annual church
picnic in the park, at which I helped serve hot dogs and burgers, plus set up
and clean up, then most of this past week i helped get our big social hall ready
for our annual craft fair. We had over 70 vendors this year. So many amazing home made
crafts, and a bake sale that was also amazing. Funds raised will help serve the
needy in our area, and elswhere, and last Sunday we fed homeless in the park as well. God is good.
I'm beat to the socks, but have loved every minute of it; especially to be with so many
caring people who love the Lord. Thank you Jesus! :)
BOO--I feel so sorry for Erin. I did not know that she suffered so many ailments, especially at her age.
Please try some homeopathic therapies if you can. I really dont trust big pharma anymore,
especially when simple things like oregano do so much good. There are many websites on such
home remedies that might help her. I heard recently that one in nine are on SNAP!
Maybe Erin could try to get into management with subway and make better pay.
My goodness, what is happening these days. Lord be with us.
Possum, Boo and all, my most sincere prayers are with you!!
John Master, Billy Ray, Julie, KY Girl, and all, good to see you posting. JM, I like that premise for a story,
especially since no one has said anything about my recent limericks! haha!
Julie, that is so cool about Donna Fargo. I saw that there is a big mural to her in Mt. Airy
when I was there this past summer. Loved her songs in the '70s, like...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMXAMR28nq0&list=RDkMXAMR28nq0&start_radio=1
That song came out just as I got my first teaching job, and was dating my Cecile.
I just changed it to say "...happiest boy..." :-)
OK, I'll try one more limerick...

There once was a "Gentleman Dan,"
Of whom Barney was a big fan.

November 04, 2025 - Msg 121023: Awe, such a good word for us, Julie! Thank you for that. I have not thought of Donna Fargo in so many years. Glad you got to go see her.

Good to see you all on the porch. MDC, I think you are absolutley right about a natural approach for Erin's autoimmune issues but getting her to do what she is supposed to do is beyond difficult. Something is wrong in that head of her's.
You mentioned her being a manager; Well she was made manager months ago but the existing manager can't let go of control and as long as she is still in that store, the company won't increase Erin's pay. She is doing the job of manager but not getting paid for it. Her girlfriend and I have been trying to talk to her about it because she deserves better, but she has so much anxiety about moving on to something else. She is 24 now and I can only do so much to encourage her and it is a fine line between encouraging her and driving her in the opposite direction. At least the baby is doing well. Jonah has outpatient surgery on Friday to release a tendon in his heel and then will have a cast for three weeks, then will get the brace put on. The foot has responded beautifully to treatment so far, thankfully, and he is such a good natured little thing. Smiles like crazy. hehe They love him and give him alot of attention.

Maude, I certainly hope to see you in person before too long in Mt. Airy. Alot is riding on Bruce. He is still working without pay and we are hoping he gets reimbursed like last time this happened. If not, we are out of alot of funds that would have gone toward retirement/trips. Its in God's hands. Its just a tough time with the holidays coming and so on. I was talking to my sister and we have decided to keep christmas small because we are all having to be very careful with our spending. Her husband is retired but had to go back to part time work. Right now he is a substitue teacher at the local high school (he is 73).

I never heard anything about the job I applied for but it is still possible that I may. I feel like companies probably dont wont to hire someone who is 63 but I guess we will see.

Thanks for those prayers, Friends.

November 04, 2025 - Msg 121024: Hey Porchsters. I declare I woke up with the misery in my back Sunday. It almost kept me from going to preaching. I did okay though. It's still a mess but I hope it clears up soon. No explanation, just slept on it wrong I reckon. I wonder what causes that.

Prayers for the families of those who perished in the UPS plane crash!
Thank God it was a low number, but still so tragic. Lord be with us.

HI to Big Maude. It is kinda neat to be able to place a face
with a name, especially since you are a far cry from the actual
Big Maude on the show! :) So cool that you get to help with Tripp!
Tho Cecile and I had no kids, we often watched our nieces and nephews
when my brothers and sisters would go off for a weekend, etc.
BILLY Ray, for your back you could try that burnaise sauce plaster that Klink used
on Hogan's Heroes if you have ever seen that one! ha
POSsum, you are a bird in this world! Thanks for the 'vote of confidence'
on the limerick!
BOO, that is such a 'gip' about Erin's position. Can she talk to corporate
about it, or is it a franchise store? Here is a website with some very doable
home remedies for FM. https://orthotoc.com/home-remedies-for-fibromyalgia/
Even just a magnesium capsule daily can help a lot.
A friend from church who is now with the Lord followed these 16 natural
remedies, and they really made a big difference in her life!
Also, to help my immune system strong I take the following daily: Vit. C, Zinc, fish oil, oregano, quercetin, and Saffron. More later folks.
Prayers,
MDC

November 06, 2025 - Msg 121027: That’s good to hear Possum! 🙏🏻

It’s a Sunny decent day on my end of the Porch, I got everything outside wrapped up for Winter, but still a LOT. of 🍁 on the trees!...I even put my rockers away for the winter.

So, I’m almost ready for “Winter-time Goob”....Was thinking of Asa as I was getting my Snow Joe Ready! I spray it down with silicone to keep the snow off if it during battle!...I wonder whatever happened to Asa’s “Helen” she sure could be cantankerous as her namesake also could be....lol

Good one GF! But believe it or not, I am still MOWING my grass.
It just doesnt want to go dormant this year! But, then, our temps
have still been in the high 80s!
All else is going OK. I will be having Thanksgiving again this year
for my family members who are in town. No out-of-towners coming this time.
Possum, glad that your health plan will be good for '26!
I just keep letting mine 'ride,' so far so good.
Hang in there all.

November 07, 2025 - Msg 121029: I have at least one, probably two more mowings to do. A lot of it now is grinding up leaves. I'm mowing greens at the golf course tomorrow, so that special grass isn't slowing down in growth.

November 10, 2025 - Msg 121031: Happy Monday porch family. checking on everyone this afternoon.

It's a cold blustery day on my end of the porch. some areas of snow but thankfully not where I am at this moment. I am at work until 6 tonight so hopefully I will get home without the snow affecting me. It supposed to be very cold tonight and in the morning then supposed to warm up my mid-week into the weekend. My ole bones are not equipped for this weather so early in November!

Thought I would let everyone know that Mr. Tripp will be a Big Brother to a little sister the end of January! very exciting for them and for us too.

We will go to Patrick and Daysie's for Thanksgiving and spend the afternoon with her family. She has a big family and extended family. They are very welcoming to us. Everyone contributes a dish so there is always plenty to eat.

We will celebrate Tripp's 2nd birthday on November
29th. It's hard to believe he will soon be 2.

Guess that is all for now
Prayers and blessings to all

November 11, 2025 - Msg 121032: Maude...Just think what it will be like for Trip next year when he turns “3” ...a Trifecta of Trey’s...
Until then, hopefully his baby 👶🏻 Sister takes his finger 👉🏻 when she’s born..He will be a good Big Brother Figure!

November 11, 2025 - Msg 121033: Happy Veterans Day to all who served.

Happy news,Maude! Congrats on the baby granddaughter and Happy Birthday to Tripp!

Y'all,it is DANG cold here! I'm posting just a few minutes before noon and it's 41 degrees outside with a " feels like" of 35. Don't like it one bit!
One more night down near freezing and then temps get a bit better but still not warm enough for my Southern blood!
Y'all stay warm and have a nice day! Blessings to all!

Hey GF, did you get any snow from the midwest storms?
Maybe some of that 'lake effect' that you sometimes talk about?
Hope you are OK.
Dang cold POSSUM! We are to have just 63 for a high on Friday.
Hang in there, and think of that warmer air coming! :)
Yes, Happy Veterans Day. I recall that PH was in the Navy
I believe, and Pappa Bear is an Army vet.
Maudie, very cool that another grandbaby is on the way!
For BOO: "George Bailey lassos STORK?" Love that line.
Oh ho, did I start a Christmas movie quote-a-thon? Ha
Prayers for all!

November 12, 2025 - Msg 121035: Yeah MDC We got a covering, I still have leaves 🍂 🍁 To clean up though. It was worse in the snow belt white the brunt of the “lake effect” snows…

Yes Papa Bear is an Army Vet of Vietnam War, have you heard from him lately? I have not in quite some time…

November 12, 2025 - Msg 121036: Thanks for that link on FM, MDC. I will definitely look into it. Thanks also for starting the quote a thon for Christmas. I was about to post something about it and here you are. I was watching a little bit of Christmas Vacation this week and thought of ASA. I think we should continue with the tradition. :)

Well, Erin's car is totaled from the hail storm but we are just thankful our other cares werent involoved. We will get through it. As my dear late father-in-law used to tell me when I faced a challenge, "It's no step for a stepper, Julie". I miss that guy.

Had a day off today and got a nice surprise visit from Zach this afternoon. We had a good conversation, coffee, and a cookie. He is such a blessing to me. I hope that his mother knows from heaven what a gift she gave me.

Better go get some more work done. Have a full schedule of patients tomorrow and have computer input to finish today.

I can't believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I'm not ready! lol
