Mr. Maude and I got home from the meet up yesterday afternoon
(We are only about 2 1/2 to 3 hours away from Mt Airy). A good time was certainly had by all in attendance.

We had the honor and pleasure of meeting MDC and spent time getting to know him. What a kind man . He stepped right into-the
Little town, fit in with all the townspeople and the Mayberry meet up. Hopefully, he will make the meet up next year. I think he enjoyed the Southern Hospitality and the weather. He has a lot of pictures and Mayberry souvenirs to take back to Arizona.

It was great seeing GF as well. He was a good Mayberry/ Mt. Airy ambassador for MDC as well.

It was back to work for ole Maude this morning but I managed to get through my day pretty well.

Just wanted to check in. More later this week

My flight from Greensboro to Atlanta was delayed (Twice!) so
I missed my connecting flight to Phoenix.
Then the flight that they were able to book me on

A very long day indeed, and all 4 delays were due to mechanical
issues. Kinda scary really, but I did have the time of my life!

I think I have finally come down from my Mayberry high,
but the funny thing is, I think I also had some jet lag,
even tho it was just a 3 hour difference, because i think all the delays
getting back caused my old 'body clock' to get off a bit.

Boo, one day you will have to do the Blue Ridge Parkway drive with
G-F riding shotgun! He went with me, and pointed out several things along the way
including a old mill, and the Mayberry Trading Post. It was a beautiful drive.

I forgot to mention that on Thurs, July 17, I met Big Maude

Maudie, hubby, and G-F!
As I was sitting there, I was thinking...
Here I am in Mt. Airy, NORTH CAROLINA, having an actual (as opposed

August 11, 2025 - Msg 120862: Good Monday morning folks! Hope everyone is up and at em and ready for face the day.

Been busy on my end of the porch. work is keeping me busy and trying to get things done at home. I have been in the process of cleaning out and donating things that have seemed to accumulate over the years. I am much more of a "purger" than Mr. Maude so things have seemed to multiply over time. I do a little at a time, so no one notices (hopefully) LOL

We have some exciting news on our end of the porch. We learned a couple weeks ago that Tripp will be a Big Brother sometime mid to late January! Patrick and Daysie should find out the gender around Labor Day. We are excited and looking forward to the addition to our family.

Glad you enjoyed the meet up MDC. You should start planning for 2026 meet up now and anyone else on the porch should see if they can join us as well.
It's a good time and you will never meet a finer group of folks.

Guess I had better stop dawdling and get busy here at work.

Lunch menu will be: chicken salad sandwiches, chips of your choice, Reece peanut butter cup cookies. tea. raspberry lemonade.

I didnt mention it yet, but Erin has been in a relationship with a girl named Amy for several months now and Amy just delivered a baby boy named Jonah last week. They are crazy about him and Amy seems to be a really good mom so far. He is really cute, too. Their plan is to move to Minnesota in a few months so I am trying not to get too attached.

Zach and his two boys are coming over for a visit tomorrow, so it seems my cup runneth over with baby boys all of a sudden. Not a bad deal at all.

August 20, 2025 - Msg 120879: Prayers for Possum. Hope they dont get any flooding in her area.

MDC, the reason Erin is considering Minnesota is that one of her best friends, Dakota, is in the process of adopting a little boy who is almost 2. His parents are members of her ex husband's family and she has had him for a year waiting for parent's right to finally be terminated in Alaska. They are both in jail on drug charges. So, after the adoption is finalized, she is moving in with a friend in Minnesota and asked Erin to come along and help out with childcare while she gets a job and gets adjusted. The family she is living with are all EMTs and paramedics and are encouraging Erin to go to school there and get EMT training. I dont know if she will but I am hoping she does.

So very sad today about the terrible shooting
in Minnesota. My prayers are with them.
Lord help us.
Also, you may have heard on the news about the big duststorm
that we got here Monday. They are fairly common each summer,
this one just happened to be a bit bigger. Some scattered
damage, but no casulties.
I hop you all are doing OK these days. Our temps are
'down' for a while, so that is nice.

Glad you were ok in that dust storm, MDC. I vaguely remember seeing one once in my travels with Dad back in the 80's. Probably in your area. Kinda scary how quickly things can get bad. Thinking back, I let my dad get me into some tough spots on trips. I trusted his knowledge too much. LOL. He nearly got us all killed in blizzards and on icy roads. Once we almost drove over a cliff in a granite quarry in Colorado. I am much more cautious.

I got to babysit baby Jonah on Friday and he is the sweetest. There is nothing so relaxing than sitting with a newborn on your chest while he sleeps. Pure bliss. Jonah's mom and Erin seem to be really good parents as far as I can tell. Baby is thriving and always perfectly clean and fed. I have my fingers crossed that he will be ok, unlike little Mari, who is back with her crazy mother. I dont know about these judges who are so quick to return children to moms who are addicts and have had no real rehabilitation. Its unbelievable.

St. Susan and her crew are sick with Covid this week but recovering. I have a little cough and sniffle but hoping it doesnt get bad. I didnt get the latest covid booster. I just dont want any more of them if I dont have to have them.

Better go get ready; Bruce's youngest sister is coming for a visit and we are going to eat at our favorite "hole-in-the-wall" mexican restaurant. Not much to look at by excellent service and pretty good Tex-Mex food.

September 06, 2025 - Msg 120900: I'm still here, MDC, though I have to admit that this is a very busy season in my life. It sometimes gets hard to drop by or I forget to. I'm not giving up, though. I think about you all often but I really still miss Ro and Asa. Its been hard for me to move on from it. I dont really watch TAGS anymore, or very seldom. It often gives me a feeling of melencholy. I will get over it but right now, my memories bring me more sadness than comfort. I hope that will change in time.
Sometimes I still go back and read the archives just to read the advice Ro and Asa gave me over the years. It is bittersweet.
That being said, I think the older we get, the more important it is to keep coming back to and for our friends on the porch. 20 plus years of frienship is nothing to sneeze at.
I was thinking about this; what if we start a Front Porch facebook page? I know alot of our old porch friends are on facebook. What do you think?
