October 23, 2016 - Msg 105965: RO--not sure if I ever mentioned it when it happened, but that tree company did indeed send me the new parts last January, and so we can use it again this year without having to buy a new one!
Good Sabbath to all,
MDC

October 23, 2016 - Msg 105966: Good Sabbath all. Thanks for the shout out MDC. Just been very busy. That time of year for my work.

Boo, I was hoping your work situation was getting better, but it sounds rough for you. I really hope things get better for you.

I spent most of yesterday out in the yard. The weather has been just fantastic. Low 70's in the afternoon, low 40's at night. Just perfect!

Been having a hard time getting a blood pressure medication to work for me. I just started a different one early in the week, but It has my heart running faster than it should. 105 for a resting heart rate. I feel fine, but it just bothers me. Ro or Boo, isn't that too fast? I am going back to my Doctor this week and see if I can go back on the diltiazim. I have been on that before and it has the added ability to lower your heart rate so I hear.

Guess I'll go get ready for preaching. But maybe not. I am fighting a headache.

Better get.

Asa

October 23, 2016 - Msg 105967: Good to see you check in Asa, I figured you'd been busy... it's that time of year, but in our line of work it's always that time of the year in one way or another.. Amen?... I just kicked our furnace on for the first time, from A/C to heat.... That smell from the dust burning off sure is unmistakable...
Usually every other year I do a complete tear down, pull the burners, and motor and do a good cleaning and oiling of the parts. I'm fortunate my furnace is STILL a standing pilot one and it's easy to service... As THEY say in the HVAC world, as in the plumbing world too..."Cleanliness is next to Godliness" do I get a Sabbath Day Amen?... P/M maintenance.. What a concept..lol
But I have to say, the P/M has paid off over the years, the furnace is a 70's vintage and it's STILL cranking good!...

Well it's the Indians vs Cubs as predicted, .. World Series starts Tuesday in Cleveland, along with the Cav's opener too!.. Yep TOM, Hot time in the Big city next week!...lol

But on a sadder note, the Buckeyes lost their first game in Happy Valley last night, went from #2 to #8 which moves Michigan move up to #2.... :( But as Gomer says: "That's life thru and thru".....G-F

October 23, 2016 - Msg 105968: Also, I hope they get your med's adjusted correctly, even a Ferrari needs a tune up and adjustment from time to time!

October 23, 2016 - Msg 105969: HI OH.

AND NO YOU WILL NOT SEE THE GAME.
NO IT GOING TO BE CRYING TIME IN THE BIG CITY.

October 23, 2016 - Msg 105972: MDC.. Was Henry Bennett at the University of Phoenix Stadium tonight?... CRAZY!....

October 24, 2016 - Msg 105973: I have to admit i don't know who h bennet is.
GF and ASA I have a "gaspak', gas heat and AC, on the roof and I have the gas heater checked every other year. Should I do it more often?
Well, I am pulling for the Cubbies TOM, so should be a fun series.
My Cards and Seattle just ended in a TIE! What, how long has that
rule been around? I cant keep up anymore.
ASA--glad you are OK, but even I know that
105 is pretty high for a resting rate, 70 to 80 I think is the best. Because of my meds, I am usually at about 65 resting, but I am good.
I take Cozaar (Losartin) for BP and Lanoxin (digitalis) for my heart rate.
PRAYERS FOR ALL AND FOR OUR COUNTRY!
MDC

October 24, 2016 - Msg 105974: Good Monday morning all.

MDC, Sure you know Henry the "Jinx" Bennett. I didn't see the game, but a 6 to 6 tie? Odd to say the least. Especially with the Cards and Hawks. As for your rooftop unit, other than replacing filters, I imagine every other year for a check up is good. Unless it is an older unit. Some of the older units need to have motors oiled and what not. Todays more modern units have lifetime lubed bearings and bushings.

Well after 1 day of not taking the blood pressure meds, my pulse is back down to 70. So I think I found the culprit.

G.F. Yessiree, you are a maint. kinda feller. Keeping that furnace in tip top shape. Good on you. What's the old maintenance man saying? You can pay me now, or you can pay me later. :)

Well I just cast my vote and dropped it off in the drop box at our City Hall. Now I wish all the stinking pollsters and candidates knew that and would quit calling me.

Poor old Browns. They just can't get it together, can they?

Well off to work.

Prayers for all.

Asa

October 24, 2016 - Msg 105975: Yep Asa, the Browns fans motto is ( as Barney said ) You try, and you try, and what do you get?..."Heartaches! Nothin but Heartaches!"... Speaking of hearts, glad to hear your "adjustment" got it back to normal.... BTW, your maintenance man saying is a "Real Popular Saying" in our world...lol

MDC... this might help you with what went on last night, it's a scientific fact!.... https://youtu.be/1yiYF4uFI8U that game was Crazy for sure!... There was some kind of jinx floating around there somewhere!...

I bet Poor Horatio could have explained that phenomenon if he was around... Speaking of him, where in tarnation has he been?... He sure must be on a long walk-a- bout or something!.... Speaking of absenteeism how about auh2o?... It's about time to give him weather forecasts soon.

Calling All Possums too!.... Hope everyone has a Great Week!....

October 24, 2016 - Msg 105976: Happy Monday porch, hope everyone is good today.

a cool crisp fall day on my end of the porch. needed a sweater this morning as I left for work.
the trees are turning all sorts of beautiful colors but not staying on the trees too long. Guess that's because of the dry hot summer we had tho.

work is keeping me busy these days but going to take off Thursday for a 'mental health day". cause my mental health needs a day off.

please keep my Beth in your prayers. She has been looking for a job since graduation and has not found anything at this point. Her degree is in business and finance. hopefully something will come her direction soon.

Lunch menu will be: chicken tortilla soup with a grilled cheese sandwhich. tea or lemonade to drink.

better get back to work

October 25, 2016 - Msg 105980: Good morning, porch! Oh, MDC, sorry I didn't acknowledge your comment about the Christmas tree. I got sidetracked - that's easy for me to do. Anyway, I'm glad you got the tree fixed. You really hate spending good money on the thing and then it falls apart. Mine has been fine since that initial repair.

Asa, a resting heartrate of 102 would be too fast for most people. Mine is often in the 90s, but there's a known reason for it, and no one gets excited, least of all me. Now when it was dropping down into the 30s, I got very excited! That's what earned me a pacemaker, which is set to kick in when my heart rate goes below 70. Actually, when my heart is in the 90s, it's just doing its job. About half of my right lung is non-functional, not exchanging gases like it should, so my heart has to pump faster to keep up with the oxygen demand of my body. Simple physics. It just beats a little faster, and the demand is met.

Well, I've got to get moving. A group of us gals from church are going to see the movie "I Am Not Ashamed." It's the story of Rachel Scott, who was murdered in the Columbine school shooting. https://imnotashamedfilm.com/

About fifteen of us are meeting at the church, having lunch, and then carpooling out to Grapevine to the movie. Have a great day, everyone. See this movie if you can. --Romeena

October 25, 2016 - Msg 105981: I would like to ask for prayers, my Brother has been in the hospital for the past couple of weeks, he took a sudden turn for the worst yesterday. The family was called in, he hasn't much time. His name is Denny... Thank You Porch Family...

October 25, 2016 - Msg 105983: Thanks Asa, Yes the hospital is about an hour from me... G-F

October 25, 2016 - Msg 105984: Praying for Denny for sure, G-F. It's always so hard when someone you love is on the brink. It's important to remember that God always, always answers prayer. It's just that His answers, like those of any father, are sometimes "no." It's at times like that, that we must remember the words of the gospel song that was popular a while back - "When you don't understand, when you can't see His plan, when you can't trace His hand, trust His heart."

We saw the movie "I'm Not Ashamed", and it was wonderful. I knew it would be good. The Executive Producer is Benny Proffitt, and God has His hand on that man. Benny was our Youth Minister at my church when my youngest son was a teenager, so about 30 years ago. He served there with us for several years and made a huge impact on our young people. During his time with our church, he started a ministry called First Priority, and expanded it from there. It's now a global ministry, and doing so much good.

Here's a link: http://firstpriority.net/

If you have a viable youth ministry in your church, or would like to cultivate one, First Priority can help. There's contact information on the website. Oh, and please see the movie when it comes to your area. It's wonderful!

Well, guess I'd better scare up a bit of something to eat, and get rested up. Got to teach ESL in the morning, though that has gotten easier. I inherited a new assistant when we started back in September, and I've finally just made the switch and let her be the teacher and I'm the assistant. Much better that way. She's a very energetic, imaginative and detail-oriented teacher, and always has an interesting lesson prepared, whereas I tend to just wing it a lot, and that's not a good thing. Her English grammar skills aren't as honed as mine and she speaks no Spanish at all, so I fill in those gaps and together we make a good team.

Not sure what to do about supper. Not much, I think. I ate too much popcorn at the movie. Can't go to a movie without eating popcorn! --Romeena

October 26, 2016 - Msg 105990: Prayers continue for G-F and family. Lord be with them.

I wanted to mention a friend of Sean's to ask prayer for him if you feel so led. His name is Clayton and he works with Sean. He is a 27 yr old husband and father of a young child and he had a bad injury recently when the back door of his suburban blew open and struck him in the head, knocking him unconscious. He suffered a fracture in his neck but is still waiting for an MRI that he cant afford until his insur@nce kicks in on the first of November. So...he comes to work, pale and in terrible pain with only over the counter meds for pain, and he waits. I am so upset over the health care in this country. This young man cant get the care he needs. Please pray for him. He needs some relief. From what sean tells me, he is probably not a person who believes in Jesus. He needs that first, and I am praying the Lord will use this trial in his life to bring him around.

Work awaits...

Boo

October 26, 2016 - Msg 105991: Too bad Clayton isn't an illegal alien. If he was, he could walk into the ED and be taken care of. I've watched it happen. Grrrrr. All they ask for is an address where the bill can be sent, and we all know how that works out. Well over half of the "congratulations" cards we sent out to our new moms (illegals) would be returned to us, no such person or no such address. Oh well. I don't want to go there, it's too pretty today for such as that. Praying for Clayton, by all means.

It's beautiful today, what I like to call a "green and gold" day. The flowers Joe planted last week are flourishing, just beautiful, and the cool thing is, they'll keep coming back. Gerbera daisies - you gotta love 'em!

Well, off I go. Things to do! --Romeena

October 26, 2016 - Msg 105992: Will pray for Clayton Boo. Sad story that is happening way to much. And now I hear the chosen ones premiums are about to double, just in time for him to slink out of office and to be replaced with..... oh, I better just hush!

I hope GF is doing ok. Been thinking about him all day. I don't have any Brothers, so I can only imagine what he is feeling. Old GF is like a maint. Brother to me though, bless his heart.

Well tomorrow me and my golf buddy are doing our annual 1 day golf outing. We pick one day in the fall and will play 18 holes in the morning, have lunch, and then another 18 in the afternoon. We have been doing this for a good number of years and it has become a special thing for us. A good friend and a dy of golf. Temps are supposed to be mid 70's tomorrow. Well it's just perfect is what it is.

Well off to watch some TAGS. I have gone through all the Matlocks for this go around. I watched the Christmas Story last night. With old Barney Parney Poo. lol

October 27, 2016 - Msg 105996: Good morning, porch. Don't have time to sit for very long, got to see the doc this morning. Been on the puny list for a couple of days, thinking I may have that "walking pneumonia" again. Chest feels tight, a little hard to breathe. I listened to my lungs with my stethoscope, and it's too quiet in there, not moving much air. So, off to the doc I go.

Folks, be careful when you vote. I'm afraid that the stories of voter fraud are real. My SIL called me last night, all fired up. She had voted early and couldn't believe what happened. She had pushed the single button, to vote a straight Rep ticket, and all the proper boxes lit up. Then she started to push the "Finished" button and heard a little click. Looked back at the selection list, and suddenly, everything had changed, and showed her voting a straight Democratic ticket. She hit the Republican button again, and it wouldn't change back. She called the voting proctor, and they wrestled with the thing for several minutes, finally got it to change back and she hit the finished button before it could change again. So, who knows what was actually registered! My SIL called a local radio station, was told they had been getting similar calls all day, and were looking into it. Don't look for this to be in or on the news, though. None of the MSM would touch it, I'm sure. They might get Fosterized. Disgusting.

One thing I know. I'm planning to vote early, and when I do, there had better be no shenanigans. If that were to happen to me, I will pitch such a hissy fit, like they've never seen. At my age, I have very little to lose!

Well, better run. Blessings, all! --Romeena

October 27, 2016 - Msg 105999: Haha, G-F. Don't worry, I won't get my clothes dirty because I'll be on my feet for sure, but I won't be able to hold my breath. I'll be breathing fire. All this cheating at the polls just rubs my fur the wrong way, and definitely gets on my fightin' side. So far, all I've heard and read indicates that votes are being changed from Republican to Democrat. I haven't heard of any changes the other way, but that's not to say it can't happen. Whoever does it, it's wrong, and should carry a lengthy jail term. That won't happen, though. If She Who Would Be Queen has managed to stay out of jail, after all the lying, conniving, back-door dealing and perjury she has committed, then I fear the country is circling the drain. She answered "I can't recall" forty times (that's 40 times) during an FBI investigation, and got away with it. If her memory is that bad, should she be POTUS? OK, soapbox going away. Sorry. I just couldn't resist. This voting thing has really got me riled up. It's one thing to hear about it, or read about it on the internet, but it's something else again when it happens to a family member. Oh, did I mention that the proctor at the voting place told her they had already sent six machines back because they were doing the same thing? --Romeena

October 27, 2016 - Msg 106000: Is there really cheating at the polls?? I have been too busy to watch the news. I did catch the weather, and depressingly, it is going to be hot with record breaking temps for this time of year. No end in sight. Some kind of high pressure area is above us and keeping the cool air from filtering down. Im sick of it, but what can I do? Hope the rest of you are enjoying some cooler temps. I think even MDC is cooler in Arizona right now than we are in south texas.

I didn't do the early voting thing. I am dreading it all so dragging my feet until I have to do it.

I had a day off today so St.Susan and I went to town and I got a new litter box for the cat..one of those with the pads in the bottom so you can keep the urine out of the litter..it filters through to the pad and is supposed to be less smelly. I sure hope so. I went to Hobby Lobby and found the cutest Santa! It stands about 16 inches tall and is wearing a chef's hat and holding a gingerbread house. It was 40% off which means is was probably regular price anywhere else. Hobby Lobby tends to raise prices and then give you things on sale so you think you are getting a bargain. It is really cute, though, and will look so festive in my kitchen this Christmas.

Thanks for your prayers for Clayton. Sean said he was doing much better yesterday and today. :)

Tomorrow is Bruce's birthday so he is taking off work and wants us to do something together. My sweetheart is turning 59! Time has really flown. Funny how he still looks the same to me, though...just with a bigger middle and less hair. ;)

Well, not much else to report. Better help Sean with his math..

Boo

October 28, 2016 - Msg 106001: Good evening, porch. Boo, trust me, if you do the early voting, you'll be glad you did. Usually you can just walk in, sign in and vote. On Election Day, the lines will be out the door. I'm planning to vote tomorrow. As for the cheating at the polls, yes, they're doing it. Tombstone names, illegals voting, and today I was told of another person known to me who went to vote and was told she couldn't, as she had already voted! She had not, but they said someone with her identity had voted in another town about 50 miles from here. And the Democrats pitched such a fit about Texas trying to make a picture ID a requirement. They claimed it "discriminated" against poor people (no transportation to get an ID), the elderly (too feeble to get out and get an ID) yada, yada. The grocery store where I have shopped for 35 years still asks for a picture ID when I write a check! It doesn't have to be a driver's license - the state will issue a picture ID that's for ID purposes only. So it seems to me that the protestors aren't so much worried about the handful of people who don't have a picture ID - I think they're more concerned about the thousands that wouldn't be able to vote because they're voting illegally, which would be far more difficult if the picture ID was required.
So to answer your question - yes, there's cheating at the polls. Always has been, and it will be worse than ever before this time. Socialism will never have a better chance to take over America than they have right now, and they don't plan to lose. So, whenever you vote, take the time to be sure that your vote is registered as you intended it to be. And DO VOTE.

My Hopper, the primary Dish Network box in this house, failed yesterday. Like any other "electronal marvel", they do poop out eventually. I hate when that happens, because all the programs that I've recorded are lost. I had an external hard drive connected to it, but just had not transferred the contents from the main box to the external drive. Just dumb, I guess. Anyway, I called Dish, and lucky me, they had a technician just a half hour away, and he came right over. He was the nicest, funniest guy, and we had a good time. Turned out it wasn't just the box, there was some damaged wiring in the attic (probably from the rat days) so he just pulled all the wiring and replaced it. He put a new something-or-other on the dish itself, checked all the connections all over the house, and was here all day. He arrived about 10:30, and left at 4:30. I went to Sonic and got us some burgers at noon, and we sat in the sunroom and ate and talked and had a really nice time. He's 33, has three little kids, and is so proud of them, of course. Talked in loving terms about his wife, said he fell in love with her when he was 8 and she was 7! Really a sweet guy, and did over and above what was required to fix my TV. It's all working fine now. I've got my "favorites list" rebuilt, and he hooked my external hard drive up to my old box, running it off the TV in the guest room, so with any luck, it has transferred my recordings to it. The box was working, it would just freeze up for about 20 seconds, then pixelate, then restart. That cycle would repeat about every two minutes. He said the data transfer shouldn't be affected. I'm going to let David deal with that, and hook it up to the new box.

Well, guess I'll turn in. Got to vote tomorrow, also go get my handicap placard for the car renewed - have to go to Grand Prairie for that - and Eloise and I are getting pedicures. So, Toye Starr will be alone a good part of the day, and will be in a snit for a while. But she'll get over it! Blessings, friends! --Romeena

October 28, 2016 - Msg 106002: HI ALL! Just been busy the past couple days with car repairs and what not. GF--my prayers continue for you and yours. I have 7 siblings, and I never really thought about losing one. I know it must be so hard for you brother. God bless you.

We have paper ballots in AZ and we just fill in an arrow for each candidate. We also have to show ID before voting. Praying so hard about the future of our country!! I sure do smell a rat in TX tho!

MDC

October 28, 2016 - Msg 106003: I feel for you, G-F. So sorry about your brother.
I am like you, MDC, in that I don't really think about any of my 4 siblings dying. And I don't even want to think about it. Nor about my parents, who are really getting up there in age and showing it.

Yes Boo, the democrats are pulling out all the stops to "win" this election, and they are not in it alone. If you are familiar with WIkileaks(and if you aren't, you should be), the group that has been releasing a barrage of the hacked emails that Hillary either said didn't exist or that she "accidentally" deleted, you would find out quite a bit on her corrupt campaign to win at all costs. From sending paid agitators to Trump rallies to disrupt and create a false notion that his supporters are "violent", to the media collusion with her campaign - asking for favors in return for covering for Hillary(which they are doing quite obediently) - it is all there. Here a link to some reports on that: http://www.breitbart.com/wikileaks/2016/10/14/wikileaks-reveals-long-list-clinton-media-canoodling/

So I will second what Romeena has stated, make sure you vote. It is going to take a whole lot of people voting just to overcome all the deceptive practices, like those George Soros(Billionaire Clinton supporter/helper of Nazi's during WWII) voting machines that are switching votes from Republican to Democrat. Many, many reports of that happening.

Now from one scary situation to another.
I didn't see this posted anywhere here, but just in time for Halloween, here is Floyd's "Who Stole My Golden Arm" story, even more spooky than last year, with some creepy lighting.
But not too spooky. I mean, hey, c'mon, it's Floyd. Who can be scared of him, he's such a nice guy?!
His laugh at the end is pretty creepy though.
Good job, Floyd! Remind me never to go camping with you. :-)

October 28, 2016 - Msg 106006: Good morning, porch! It's another one of those beautiful green-and-gold days here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Temp is 74°, bright sun, blue sky, trees all still wearing green leaves, bird and critter traffic very active, and flowers blooming profusely. I love it. It's like spring in reverse! One problem - the sun is hitting my window just right to show up how very, very dirty it is! However, that can be fixed. Some spray-on foam cleaner, a flat-frame cotton mop and my trusty garden hose, and I can have it sparkling. That's a project for this afternoon, however. I'm just about to take off to pick up Eloise, go get our toes done, get some lunch, vote, and go out to Grand Prairie to renew my handicap placard for the car. This is the last time I'll have to do that, as the doctor removed the time limit. This time he ordered it as "permanent." Suits me!

I don't use that thing all the time. If there's only one handicap space available, I usually won't take it. Others are far more handicapped than I am. Actually, I'm not handicapped, just somewhat limited, so I'll leave that last space for someone who really needs it. I can manage, even from far out in the lot. I just have to stop and rest now and then, catch my breath. Still, it's nice to have, especially at large venues, where "far out in the lot" can mean a quarter mile walk.

Floyd, that Golden Arm story was great! Never heard that version before, but it's good. You've got that spooky laugh down pat, for sure! Thanks, Sterling, for the link.

October 28, 2016 - Msg 106008: Good evening, porch. Got all my errands run, and the last thing was to vote. No lines, just walked right in. I was very happy to see that they did ask for a picture ID. That should cut down on some of the fraud. Also, I flat out asked the voting proctor if they had heard of any of the machines being weird, and told her what happened to my SIL. Her reply was, "Well, since you evidently already know about it, I'll tell you that we found a few machines in our batch that were 'faulty' and we reported it and had them picked up. That seems to be happening everywhere, just like you described. So, please watch your screen carefully, and when you're sure it has locked in the way you want it, push the 'Vote' button quickly and don't leave the cubby until it says your vote has been registered." That's pretty sickening, that someone is so determined to win that she will resort to any means to be sure it happens. May God have mercy on her soul. I'm not sure I could.

I'm having mucho trouble with the new Dish box. There's nothing wrong with it, I just don't know how to use it. I guess I'll get it eventually, but the thing really has a steep learning curve. Or else I'm getting dumber as I get older! Naahh! Can't be that! --Romeena

October 29, 2016 - Msg 106009: Good evening all. GF, my prayers continue for you and your family. God bless you brother.
TOM--Please dont lock me up. I just like the Cubs. But they lost today at home, so we'll have to see. Maybe tomorrow!
RO--I'm glad you asked about the voting machines. That is very scary, especially after fearless leader said it wouldnt happen!
APB FOR POSSUM!! You DO know that the storm has passed dont you? :) Come set for a spell.
Have a good weekend, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BRUCE!
MDC

October 29, 2016 - Msg 106010: Good Saturday morning all. Rained a bit during the night here, but is supposed to be sunny with temps around 70 today. Just perfect. I have a bunch of fallen leaves to deal with now. I suck them up with my riding mower, that chops them up a bit, then spread them over my garden and till them in. By spring they have broke down and really build up the soil. But I get more leaves than my garden can handle so the rest go to green waste.

Boo, tell Bruce Happy Birthday. Maybe you can sing him the ELO song "Don't let me down Brruucee! Are you familiar with it? lol

Do any of you have the option of voting by mail? We do here. We received our ballots a couple of weeks ago. We marked them and I took them to a drop box at City Hall. I much prefer that, but all this talk of problems going on with voting booths is very disturbing to say the least. I see the FBI has reopened it's investigation of the hilderbeast. I wonder if it will even matter though. What on earth has happened to us?

GF, I hope you are doing ok buddy. I know these are difficult days, but hang in there friend. Prayers continue buddy.

I got all the fixins for my chili. Stacey called me yesterday and wants to bring her family over for Halloween, and actually asked me if I could make chili. I didn't think they cottoned to it all that much. Made my day. They love my deviled eggs and chili. :)

Well off to do some Saturday chores I reckon.

Prayers for all.

October 29, 2016 - Msg 106011: Thanks Gang!. I'm hanging in there, thanks for the prayers and concerns, I have really felt them. His memorial service is Monday. Big Brother was another one of those delayed casualties of the Vietnam War, but as I said I was glad he let little brother tag along with him, and taught he me to be a pretty good skeet shooter with my trusty 410 shot gun... Yep she had a pretty good pattern for a small gun... We did get to reminisce with him about the time a neighbor invited us to shoot at his "Club" and I out shot the guy with his fancy over & under 12 gauge gun.. (We weren't invited back tho)... lol We had a good laugh about it!... Plus we talked about the hours we sat on frozen lakes ice fishing freezing our tail ends off in his ice shanty....

Asa, yard work is on my agenda today too, I have a compost bin I put my leaves in, and then I can harvest the black gold soil in the spring....

Go Tribe!... G-F

October 30, 2016 - Msg 106012: G-F--Glad you had those story times with your brother. I wonder if a girl skeet shooter also 'out-shot' your neighbor, and that soured him on the whole thing. Was it the Esquire Club? If so, I'll have a drink out of his bottle. ha
Well, ALL, I guess I'm just a trained noticer...remember a week or so ago i mentioned that I saw "Myer's Lake" on Bonanza, well tonight I saw it on Star Trek! It was the ep where Kirk gets hit on the head and goes into the obelisk. (which is right by the "lake!") That area sure got used a lot.
Good on you guys using leaves for compost. I just end up raking mine and then bag them for alley pick up.
Still warm here. 95 today but to be 85 by Monday.
Are we meeting PappaBear at the Rimshaw place?
Thanks for your prayers ASA.
God bless,
MDC

October 31, 2016 - Msg 106019: The Rimshaw place...tonight....8pm....

Happy Halloween everyone. I am working today but will be off this evening. Both kids will be out doing their own thing but St Susan and her son will be coming over. I am making a big batch of beef veggie soup in the crock pot, with some cornbread. We never get trick or treaters out here so we just hang out, watch the Rimshaw House ep and maybe Charlie brown. I usually make some caramel apples but I couldn't find caramels anywhere..all sold out.

No, Asa, I didn't sing ELO to Bruce. :) I think he had a good birthday weekend. We took the family out to eat on Sat night, including Bruce's mom, which is always a challenge. The meal was great and I think he enjoyed the evening. I think next year I will throw a party for him since he is turning 60.

Better get ready for work. Hope you all have a terrific day.

Boo

PS= Where's SPOT??

October 31, 2016 - Msg 106020: Happy Halloween, y'all! Shame on me for not rocking much lately, but you can bet I'll be at the Rimshaw house tonight!

Hope everyone has a SPOOKtacular Halloween!

November 01, 2016 - Msg 106022: HI all, hope everyone is doing OK.
TOM and GF--big game on Tuesday nite. Tom can you run
an extension cord to my cell? Ha
GF--Hope you are doing ok. My prayers are still with you and yours.
Boo: boo! lol
Well, I'll be doing a 'nuclear' stress test later this month to check out my enlarged heart/arteries, etc. Also the orthopedic surgeon wants to see the results before I finally have my arthritic hip replaced, hopefully in January. Oh the joys of gettin' old! But I am told that the way my heart failure is going, I should get this done now, or forever hold my peace, so to speak. Also was told that by doing so, it should stop my left thigh pain, and most of my lower back pain, as my left leg can be lengthened the 1/4 inch that it is short, and my back will be better aligned. Sounds like I'm taking in my car! haha Well, enuf about me, take my wife,... please! OK, old joke. Hey to POSSUM and Pappabear, ASA, spot , and all.
Prayers for all!

November 01, 2016 - Msg 106023: Good morning all.

MDC, I hope the stress test goes ok. I had one done several years ago prior to my first ablation. They wanted to make sure my heart was healthy. The worst part of it for me was the picture taking. I am really claustrophobic, and I wasn't excited about that part (you have to go in twice) but even that wasn't to terrible. That and I glowed in the dark for three days until the juice they gave me got out of my system. lol That's how my back Doctor determines when my pelvis is out of wack, he measures my leg length difference. So I can bet that will have some impact on your back pain. Good luck with that.

GF, I hope the service for your Brother went well and wasn't too difficult for you. I know those sometimes can be real hard for families. My prayers continue for you and yours.

Good to see you Possum. I am glad you came out from under your rock. We were getting worried.

Boo, I hope you had a good Halloween. Are you going to make the party next year for Bruce a surprise party? You got the candles to swing it? :)

Ro, I saw my Doc yesterday and got my B.P. medication changed again. He put me on Diltiazim. I hope it works out better than the first two he tried.

Well off to slay the dragon. I had the family over for Halloween last night. I made them my award winning chili. They seemed to love it. I say award winning because on Saturday my golfing buddy called me and asked for my recipe. His Church was having a chili cook-off that night. So I gave it to him. He called me back late Saturday night to tell me out of 18 entries, his came in tied for second. Made me proud as Barney after arresting that vagrant who he thought robbed the Drug Store.

Well I'm off. Prayers for all.

November 01, 2016 - Msg 106024: The Memorial service went well yesterday, I was doing Ok until the Color Guard and when Taps was played... My eyes watered up, must have been the alergic's as Opie had said..
Then after the service we went back to my Niece's house for dinner, we all had a good time telling all our "Denny" stories over the years....

Again thank you ALL for the prayers and concerns, they TRUELY were felt..... G-F

November 01, 2016 - Msg 106025: p.s. MDC, keep me up on your hip replacement, I have to have that done too!. The thought just freaks me out!... But I know I'll have to have it done so I don't walk like Chester. I was hoping for a procedure where they put in a grease zerk and just pump in some silicon grease in it...

Maybe Asa and I can develop the procedure and perfect it? You in Buddy?...lol... G-F
