January 10, 2013 - Msg 91969: Wow, I hadn't thought of that, Ro, but you're right...now we have to deal with this drugged "zombies" who take the bullets and just keep coming. Scary stuff. I guess more than any other reason, I think that is why we need to be armed if we choose...like I mentioned before, these crazy synthetic drugs like "bath salts" that people are making are a huge threat, especially to people in the larger cities.

I can't believe you recently noticed the missing lense, too. That's funny. I noticed another blooper yesterday in the beauty pageant ep. Remember when andy and opie are sitting at the dining table eating and "Miss Most Likely to Become Charmin'" waltzes in? During that whole scene, the dishes in the hutch behind Andy keep mysteriously moving around. Watch for it. :)

Boo

January 10, 2013 - Msg 91970: I wonder if that lense got stolen in the robbery also? Hmmmm, this is getting interesting.

Boo, sure hope you get over your crud quick like. Well I guess you've had it long to be quick, but I hope the worst is behind you. And I don't mean by that, that it settles in your behind. You know what I mean. :)

I see MDC's got the broom duty this cycle. Good for him, as long as he gets the corners.

Well the weatherman was right. It's snowing like mad. Cleaned off about 8 inches off my driveway and it's still coming down hard. Tomorrow's commute should be interesting.

G-F, Don't know if you deal with elevators or not. We have several we deal with and you know what that means. Yup, a yearly visit from the State Elevator Inspector. I find the elevator inspectors to be the worst. Really smug and arrogant. Wonder what causes that? Maybe it's cause their jobs are full of ups and downs. (sorry, couldn't resist) They ain't really so bad. I just had to set it up don't you know. :)

Asa

January 10, 2013 - Msg 91971: Yep Asa I have 16 I have to deal with! Again you are right on. I agree they are very tough! My opinion is in alot of cases the Inspectors are former "repair tech's" so when they can stick it to their former co-workers they get great joy in it. POWER mongers...(since the elevator co. has to do most of the repairs.) My problem is the residents & guests are very hard on them, we are greeted most mornings with some kind of "Surprise" left behind...Yuk! (I'll stop right there)....

I find the HUD inspectors to be the worse, because they are sub-contracted by HUD and they bid on the inspections and they assure that we don't get to high of scores so they don't put themselves out of a job..Typical Government bullmalarky...

Hey MDC..good sweeping job! Mrs. G-F wants to hire you. Alot of experiance from your sand storms I'm thinking...

January 10, 2013 - Msg 91972: Thanks for the laugh, Asa...hehe....I surely hope it doesn't settle in my behind, but my sinuses COULD use a break. ;) Actually, I am feeling much better this evening. At around 4 or 5 today, I used the steroid nasal spray and it made a world of difference within about 30 minutes. I even went outside and fed Thelma Lou and the chickens. I had some stale tortillas so I went to the chicken coop and pinched those up for Bernie and the girls. They LOVE that better than anything. It was a lovely sunny but cool day here and it was great to be outside for a bit. I really think I have finally "turned the corner" so to speak...I hope, anyways. This crud has been no picnic.

Hope I am feeling as good in the morning.

Boo

January 11, 2013 - Msg 91973: Good morning, porch! It's 49° here, sunny with a few scattered thin clouds, and predicted to get to 70° today. I love it! Joe and Jorge are on their way, will get the roses pruned, the big flower island spruced up and new dirt added, the big old cedar stump put in position and the stone birdbath and planters positioned on top of it, and the leaves pulled out of the pond. The pond water looks like coffee, from all the tannin that has leached out of those leaves. I'll probably have to pump out at least a third of the pond water and replace it, to reduce the tannin level. Got to watch the water temperature change, though. It can't be too drastic or the fish will go into shock. Anyway, it's going to be a busy day. I love these "yard days." I don't know how much I'll be able to do, but I'll be out there, and doing what I can.

Boo, I sure do hope you're done with that crud. I know you've been miserable. Apparently, it's all over the country. My brother-in-law in Michigan had the flu, it went into pneumonia, and he ended up in the hospital. He's home now, and apparently on the mend, but he was pretty sick. Scary, because like me, he's no spring chicken. He's a good guy, and I've always wished we could have all lived closer. His wife is a sweetie, too.

I was talking with my manager at the hospital, and she said the place is packed out, with lots of flu cases. They're trying not to admit for flu, but some people are just too sick to be treated at home. They don't admit unless they just have to, because it's risky bringing the flu virus into a confined environment, where people are in a weakened state already, and you have staff going from one to another. You can wash hands all you want, but the virus still travels. I think I'm glad I'm not working right now.

Well, better grab a bite to eat, and get ready for the guys to arrive. I've got a new light fixture for one of the flowerbeds, and it needs to be assembled. That - I can do! Blessings, folks! --Romeena

Boo......praying you're still feeling better today.

Ro....I've heard some hospitals have filters with a speicial light that actually helps kill viruses. With all the mess that's going on now and especially in hospitals, they need them in every room (if they really work). I've got one at my house and in my motorhome that has it but again, not sure if it's really doing anything or not:)

Yesterday back home, an old church burned to the ground. All the historic records and furnishings that had been saved over the years were completely destroyed. The church was established I think in 1736 so it contained a lot of historic papers and documents. The sad part is they thing the fire was set by someone on purpuse at around 5:00am. There's some very sick and dangerous people in this world.
But as sad as it is, I told one of the members yesterday that they have to remember....the building was destroyed not the Church!

Well you folks have a very blessed day and remember HE is with you no matter where you go or what you do!

I am feeling better today...much better than this time yesterday. Still dealing with some sinus trouble and a slight cough but I think I'm gonna make it, thanks. I'm not sure what I had...could have been flu but not sure.

I have a prayer request for you all, please. My Erin is going out of town to San Antonio this weekend with her best firend, Alli. Alli's dad bought tickets months ago for a concert that the girl's wanted to go to and he paid 100 dollars for Erin's ticket before I even knew anything about it. Its for one of those popular kid's singers and there will be thousands of people there. I am a little nervous about my 11 yr old going out of town for something like that without me but I know the parents and they are responsible. Anyway, please pray for Erin's safety and for my nerves. :)

Rev, that's awful about the burned church! It's too bad they didn't make copies of the documents on a computer or memory stick not located in the church.

Romeena, glad you're not working! My stepdaughter had a check up appt for Monday, but I cancelled it as I don't want to put her unnecessarily at risk of the flu!

MDC....I just saw your post on my facebook so I thought I'd post it here.....As for the concert being streamed live, they told me yesterday that it would be live. It starts at 10:00am eastern time. Just go to the Salvation Saloon site and you should be good to go.
Now for the newer folks here that didn't see my last concert there, it is for sure different than anything you've probably ever seen before when it comes to church. It is a biker church that meets in a saloon....a real working saloon with all the signs up and the whole nine yards. I started doing this concert about 5 or 6 years ago and I have a blast with these folks. Ya'll check it out if you can.

Lucy...you're right, that church I'm sure has copies somewhere but a lot of the originals and furnishings are gone.

Well gang you all have a great day.....hope to see ya'll in the bar in the morning...lol That just don't sound right does it....lol

Just got done cleaning off a few more inches of snow off the driveway from last night. Boy, it started snowing Thursday afternoon here about 3 in the afternoon and finally quit this morning about 5 am. Pretty big storm for us in the valleys. A total of 20 inches. And cold. Dang cold. Supposed to dip below 0 tonight. :( Lucy, a thorax is in the chest region. There is an old saying about being colder than a witch's blank, but I couldn't or wouldn't say what. I heard Sherman Potter use the "thorax" term once on MASH and kinda liked it. So that's it's origin for me at least.

Boo, glad you are doing better. Just don't overdo it. Sorry Sean had such a rough night. And I preay Erin will be safe on her outing.

Well I better get. Noticed my snow blower was acting a little funny this morning. Got done at letting it thaw out so I can investigate. I think I might have got something caught in the auger. That happens sometimes. Hope that's all it is.

January 12, 2013 - Msg 91989: Good morning, porch! Asa, I had to laugh when I read the "witch's thorax" thing. With a medical background, I knew very well what you meant, and thought it was too funny. And - now that you mention it, I recall Col. Potter using that term. To pursue that thread - I always liked Harry Morgan, and he had several memorable roles over the years, but Col. Potter was probably my favorite. He was everyone's grandpa, or favorite uncle, and while he could be quite colorful, he was always respectful. One of my favorite quotes from him was "If you ain't where you are, you're no place." He said that to the staff when everyone was sad because it was Christmas and they were still in Korea, dreaming of home. He was trying to tell them to pull it together and live in the moment.

Boo, I'll admit I don't know much about anxiety disorders, but I've had a few patients who have had anxiety attacks in the middle of the night, and they're very real. Their body seems to be revved up like a runaway engine, with every sense over-excited and their thoughts almost out of control. I know that at such times, the person usually has a high level of adrenalin (epinephrine) in their blood. From the little reading I've done, the attitude seems to be that the adrenalin is released as a result of the anxiety attack. I can't help wondering if it's the other way around? After some sessions of trying to "talk them down", I've come away with the impression that the cause is physical, not mental. The person will talk to me, will say they have no idea what's wrong, they don't express any fears, but their body is running like a car with the accelerator stuck. If that's so, then all the counseling in the world is not going to help. If they're dealing with a surge of adrenalin, then the "fight or flight" response is in full swing, and nothing is going to help but time, when the adrenalin finally dissipates. It seems to me that something physical is triggering a sudden release of a surge of adrenalin, and I would have to wonder what's doing it. Does any of this sound familiar to you, Boo? Is this ground you've already covered? Like I said, I know very little about the whole thing.

Well, guess I'd better go feed my little girl. She hates it when I stop off at the computer first thing. I could be here for minutes, or hours! Blessings, friends! --Romeena

January 12, 2013 - Msg 91991: Your right, G-F...I am not feeling as well as I had hoped and I know it will just be that way until my sinuses are back to normal. Its getting better but takes time.

Thanks for the prayers for Erin, Asa. I just heard from her and she arrived safe and sound in San Antonio, which is good because they are expecting some bad weather there today. I'm sorry to hear about how cold it is there for you...I know it hard to deal with that much cold and snow, but thank God, it doesn't last forever. Spring will be here before you know it...and then that dreadfully hot summer heat! yuck.

Yes, it does, Ro, but in Sean's case its a little different. I have had pt's like you describe...one in particular was suffering from paranoid delusions and it was a chemical problem in the brain that had to be treated with meds, which as I recall, didn't help alot. In Sean's case, it is also chemical and a brain issue...part of the whole "Tourette and anxiety disorder" package, but the anxiety follows a definite thought process. The thoughts begin, become obsessive, and then the adrenaline kicks in...with stomach pain, dry mouth, nervousness, inability to control the anxious thoughts and so on. It doesn't matter much what you say to him but the best stradegy is usually to try tocause a distraction from the thoughts until he is able to calm down. Nothing really works very well most of the time but it helps. With Sean, since he has been off meds, there has been an increase in many anxieties, one being an over-preocupation with physical symptoms. I saw some of that when he was very young...imagining that he had a thorn in his foot, that he was going to throw up, etc. Now that he is older and more knowledgeable, his imagination is more mature and he can think of a host of things that could be making him sick. He has been obsessing over this feeling that he has in the back of his throat. He says it feels like water is running down the back of his throat, then like something i going to obstruct his breathing and then the panic begins. Trying to talk to him about the irrationality of some of his fears is pretty futile. I am just hoping the doc we are going to see will be able to help. Our past experience with counseling has not really helped alot but I am willing to go that route again, if Sean is. Anyway, that's what I know at this point.

Boo

January 12, 2013 - Msg 91992: Boo, I'm so sorry for both of you. What a difficult thing it must be. I understand the "chemical problem in the brain", because that's exactly what happens to me when i am given a narcotic - any narcotic. Delusions, hallucinations, irrational thoughts, and nausea. Lots and lots of nausea. So, I don't take them. Easy fix. However, when the chemical imbalance is generated within one's own body, it's a different story. I wish I could help. The one thing I can do is join with you in prayer, that God will provide an answer, and will calm Sean's mind and give him peace. As for the recent fear, over the feeling in his throat - does he have a postnasal drip? That's what it sounds like.

Well, I'm off to rustle up some dinner. No idea what it's going to be, I'm just going to find bits and pieces and put something together. Blessings, everyone! --Romeena

Ro, I think Sean's problem is postnasal drip and boy, did I try to stress that last night! ha...he has alot of allergies so I certainly imagine that is the problem. He seems to be doing well today. This anxiety thing is unpredictable. He can be functioning well and happy most of the day and things can turn on a dime, but for now, it's a good day. :)

January 12, 2013 - Msg 91998: Oh my. G-F, you are a bird in this world! Your mind works in weird ways, and I think that's why I like you so much. Mine does too. Sometimes in a group I'll ask a question, or make a comment, and people will look at me like I just grew a tail or something. Eloise has said that she would never think of some of the questions I ask, but they don't seem all that strange to me. Oh well.

Emma! As I live and breathe! It's good to see you, after so long. Where have you been keeping yourself? We thought you'd run off with that drummer feller that came through. I hope you're home to stay. Mayberry is still a gooood place to be!

Joe and Jorge and I got quite a bit done yesterday, but still have a little more to do. They'll be back one day next week, if the weather settles down. I did get my new little light installed and it's so pretty! The newest flowerbed (about a year old) is a crescent-shaped bed, almost fifteen feet long, and about four feet at its widest point. About a third of the way from one end, we put two really pretty boulders, one sort of leaning on the other. The new light is almost three feet tall, with a pretty Tiffany-style shade on it, like a lamp. The light glows through the shade, and shines downward. We placed it beside the boulders, so it lights them up and it's really pretty. The bed contains snapdragons (yep, trying to bloom) and has some hyacinths budding. We filled it with tulip bulbs and some assorted other low-growing bulbs, and I'll put more snaps in it this spring, and probably two or three Gerbera daisies. Those little darlings are tough! They freeze down, then come back in the spring, and bloom so nicely. Also, I learned that they make great cut flowers, will last about ten days in a vase if you change the water frequently. They're a bit pricey, so I only buy four or five each spring, but by now, I've got about twenty plants out there, that just keep coming back. Such fun!

Boo, I was wondering. Do you think it would be at all helpful to have Sean keep a journal? I mean - when he's starting to feel anxious, would he be able to write down what he's feeling, what his fears and concerns are, what he thinks might happen? Then later, as it's easing off, he could continue to write down what's in his mind. Later, when he's calm, he could read back over it and gain some insight into the fears - and most importantly, the resolution - and can make some rational observations from a distance, as it were. If he is too upset to write, maybe he could use a recorder and just speak his feelings. Or - maybe the effort of writing, focusing on how he feels and concentrating on putting it into words might even have a calming effect on him at the time. I don't know - I'm just "thinking through my fingers" on the keyboard. I know after I lost Dale, sometimes the grief and despair were just more than I could handle, and when it was the worst, I would come in here and write. Just writing down what I was feeling seemed to help, at least a little bit.

Well, guess I'll go read a bit, then hit the hay. Blessings, friends! --Romeena

Spot, Rev, good luck to your Falcons. Seattle is good and on a roll right now. Y'all gonna have your hands full. But you're at home which is gotta help. Although it didn't help Denver yesterday (snicker)

So MDC, your reporters reporting on frost huh? Must be a slow news day. LOL I love those idiot reporters standing out in bad weather, telling us how bad it is. Pretty dumb. But that's our news folks nowadays.

Speaking of news, I was just reading where three Utans were killed yesterday in a plane crash in Austin Texas. Ro or Boo, any of you close to Austin?

Boo, I was reading your post about Sean and it dawned on me just how difficult a thing it is you are going through. I do pray you can find the right Doctor who can really help your situation.

Well I better go see if I can find something for breakfast. "I gotta eat, so I can take my back pill". (name the movie quote Boo) My back is screaming at me, so I take a muscle relaxer that helps. And to make matter worse, I am having a gout flare in my right ankle. I broke that ankle pretty bad about 25 years ago, and it seems when I have a gout flare, it makes a beeline right to that ankle. Weird huh?

Prayers for all today. Hope your service goes well Rev.

REV-saw you on salvationsaloon.com this am.
very cool! This was my first time at "live streaming" because I purchase time on a 4g stick now, and get 2 gigs for $25 a month, and I wasnt sure how much I would "use up."
Anyways, I saw the start before I headed here to dad's. Opening guy talked about mini pearl hats, etc, and then you picked up that fine USA-made Taylor cutaway and
started rockin' for Jesus! Then I got a refried beans commericial!! What's up with that? haha
Oh, and you look MAAAVleous! (:

Hope all has a good day.

January 14, 2013 - Msg 92018: Good morning fellow porch-sters. . . we are currently experiencing freezing cold temps. See that 60 degree weather got us again!

Still a little blue today (probably seasonal). Just tired of being tired. . . .

MDC got himself a Barbed Wire Cross and Casey and I really appreciate this. These are really neat looking. If you want to see what Casey and I make - we have a youtube video called Dirt Road Diva. You might have to search for it but we are there! It shows a lot of our stuff. The kid is pretty talented!

http://www.gofundme.com/1tpkgg
I think this link will take you to the page we created to raise some money for his shoes and compression socks. He would also like an electric blanket to keep his feet warm. With his bones falling apart in his feet - he doesn't have good circulation and his feet stay cold most of the time. And you all know that when your feet are cold - it is hard to get warm. If you feel the desire. . . we thank you!

Got a sub job for tomorrow. :)

I'll try to stop in tomorrow. Take care!!

January 14, 2013 - Msg 92019: Good morning, porch! Cold here today in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. It's 30°, but very little wind and only some high, hazy clouds. Still, it's only supposed to get to about 40° today. Weird weather.

Auh2o, I will be praying for your little girl. Kids just shouldn't have to deal with things like that. Please keep us posted on her progress.

Boo, I declare, I don't know what we're going to do with you! This may have been covered before, but I've forgotten, so I'll ask. Did you have the flu shot? So far, I know three people who have battled the flu around here, and none of them had the shot. I did, I had no choice in the matter. My hospital has made that a condition of employment (not sure how I feel about that!) so I got one, even though I was on leave. I knew I'd have to have it in order to return to work, so might as well be covered for the whole season. I'm glad I got it, because the flu is sure making people awfully sick. Prayers for you, my friend, shot or no shot.

Asa and G-F, I'm sorry you boys have the miseries. You're both too young for such as that! Asa, do you take colchicine for your gout, or have they come up with something new? Back when I was doing med/surg nursing, that was the drug of choice, and seemed to work fairly well. G-F, have I missed something? What's wrong with your hip? You sound like my oldest son. When he was in his twenties, he took a fall while hanging some drapes for his wife, and t-boned his hip on the back of a wood-frame sofa. He didn't break it, but the bone was bruised, and over the years he had a lot of trouble with it. When he was about forty, a doctor told him the hip looked really good - if he was eighty-five! He needed a replacement, and was repeatedly advised to do it, but always refused. Finally, about three years ago, the pain was just more than he could deal with - the joint had eroded down flat and he was walking with a cane much of the time. He got the replacement, and says it just changed his life! Recovery was easy, and he's now pain-free.

My back yard is full of critters, and there's no feed out for them! I have it, just haven't put it out. I've got some pecans in the shell, which the squirrels will love, but I'm no dummy. When I put them on the feeding stones, I'll crack them with a big rock. Otherwise, the squirrels will bury them instead of eating them, and I'll have a forest of native pecans sprouting everywhere. Cracked thoroughly, they won't sprout. I've got some cracked corn and some sunflower seeds too, so there will be something for everyone. Also some cereal left over from making scattermix at Christmas. I'll never eat it, might as well give it to them.

Well, today is a rehab day, so guess I'd better get moving. I'm due out there in 45 minutes, and I'm still in my jammies. Poor Toye Starr, she'll mope when she sees me getting dressed, but I won't be gone long. Blessings, everyone! --Romeena

P.S. - I had my first burger from Five Guys last night! Wow! Now that's a hamburger! I think they're pretty widespread, so if there's one near you, try them. I got the single patty burger with everything on it. If you're a serious carnivore, they make a double patty burger too.

January 14, 2013 - Msg 92020: Ro - my dad has pecan trees and it has become the job of my boys to crack the pecans. Then we take them to the Health Care Center and he gets the meat or the nut out of the shell. It gives him something to do! Just thought of that when I read about your squirrels! :)

January 14, 2013 - Msg 92021: Homemaker, message me your address on facebook and I'll mail that boy and electric blanket, ASAP. The address I used to send your christmas card brought it back to me marked, "unable to find".

Thanks Ro. No, I didn't get the flu shot but I will when i am over this. I am feeling much better today. I am on my 4th box of tissues, though, and still blowing. :(

January 14, 2013 - Msg 92022: Romeena, Down your way it takes "5" Guys to make a burger? Man, Ya think down in Texas where beef is king they'd have it down pat by now!
I suppose if ya order a "double it takes "10" guys? There I go again with my lateral thinking.

With the temps. we had this weekend 65-70 it brought my squirrels out...They must have been cooped up to long because there was "love" in the air, I think they were chirping the lines to "Muscrat Love" from Capt.& Tenniel. So we can expect a new crop of them come Spring ;)
(as for my hip...Just Arther comes to visit most days) so I just deal with it.I guess to many years of playing softball & climbing ladders is catching up with me.

Thanks gang for keeping my daughter in your prayers. She had an upper endoscopy the Doc thinks all is well but he did send out a couple of biopsies. She has had a tough row recently. So many tests these last 13 months. She is an old soul, just a tender, petite, smart little thing.

Well... that 70 degrees seems like awhile ago now, it was 19 here this morning.

Lots to do today but I wanted to say thanks and give an update. I'll stop back later.

Peace.

January 15, 2013 - Msg 92035: Snow! We have snow! Well, sort of. It looks like someone went around and dusted sugar in my yard. There are little piles on the tops of things, and it's down in the spaces between the stones in the pathway, and where there's bare dirt (not much of that out there) there's about a half-inch of white. You northern folks would snicker at it, understandably, but to us it's snow. The temp is 33°, but the skies are "battleship gray" and it looks like it could get colder. The forecast is for a high of 38°, so I guess we'll see.

I'm glad to hear our porch kids are doing a bit better. I'm always amazed and impressed with how tough and resilient the young folks are. Prayers for all of them!

Well, guess I need to go punch the thermostat up a little. I always turn it down at night, and once I get up, I find it's cold in here! Toye Starr is sitting there looking at me like she thinks I'm crazy. She's cold too, I'm sure, being down on the floor like she is. I'll bet her little feet are like ice, poor baby. They're not as cold as the squirrels out back though, I'm sure. There are about six running around out there, so guess I'll go put some feed out for them. Poor little things.

Blessings, y'all! --Romeena

January 15, 2013 - Msg 92041: Homemaker, I mailed Casey's blanket today. I left you message with details on facebook. :)

Well, Sean's appointment went well with the phych doctor. I really liked the guy...very friendly and easy to talk to and listened well, and answered our questions well. He is going to try another med and he prescribed a quick-acting anti- anxiety med for those times when he is having a panice attack. It will take a few weeks for the new med to get into his system at a therapeutic level but we will see how that does. So far, so good. He also told us about a counselor that Sean might like, if we choose to try that again. Now we just need to get him in to see the stomach doc.

I ran a few errands and I am ready to rest for the rest of the day! It is about 40 degrees and sprinkling rain here..been like that all day so I just put on my jammies and will get some rest.

Boo

January 15, 2013 - Msg 92042: Evening porch, on my way to the ole ironing board so thought I would drop by a minute. Hope everyone is ok.

Boo, glad Sean 's appointment went well and you liked the Doctor. That means a lot. Hopefully the new medication will be helpful.

We have had rain on my end of the porch for the past 2 dsys and it is raining tonight. Supposed to rain thru tomorrow. We have flooding in many areas .Several schools were closed today and will be closed tomorrow. Since we have a lot of rural communities that are situated along the Holston River and many creeks that can not handle all the run off, the water tends to make driving hazardous especially when you don't know what you might drive into. There was a bad wreck which had traffic backed up this morning on my way to work which was rain related and a few hours later another weather related wreck with a fatality in the same area. Hopefully things this front will move on out by Thursday.

Well, gotta go, 6:00 am comes quickly!

Prayers and blessings.

Big Maude

January 15, 2013 - Msg 92043: Well, of all things! That water-skiing squirrel is just too cute. I noticed that when he fell off, he knew who to go to for rescue. Obviously he knows and trusts that lady. His little lifejacket is the cutest thing! Toye Starr has one (not as small as his, but close) but she's never been in the water with it on. I made her wear it when we visited my son in Florida, and would sit down on his dock at the lake in the evenings. If she's like Sugarplum was, she can't swim worth squat. That little squirrel swam like a motorboat, though, didn't he? Too cute!

Boo, that sounds like good news, from the visit with the psych doctor. Maybe Sean will get a break this time, and someone will be able to help the situation. I sure do hope so.

Homemaker, did you get my Christmas card? I'm asking, so that I'll know for sure that the address I have for you is correct. The card didn't come back, so I'm pretty sure I have the right address, but sometimes they take a long time to return mail, so I thought I'd better be sure.

My neighbor's fat old cat came creeping through my back yard a little while ago. He forgets that he has white markings, and there is a lot of soft light back there, so I can spot him like he was waving a flag. He knows that in weather like this, the squirrels have denned up in the nest boxes, and the birds have clustered in the shrubbery next to the house, and he thinks he's going to grab an easy snack. Dumb cat. I waited until he got in just the right spot, turned on the sprinkler for that zone, and nailed him pretty good. He escaped that zone, thought he was safe, but I turned it off and turned on the zone where he had retreated. He jumped straight up, came down and ran back to the first zone. I repeated the process and got him again. This time, he climbed the fence and went home, wet and pretty mad. Serves him right. Heehee. I just enjoy doing that so much! I wouldn't hurt him for anything, but I sure don't mind watering him when I get the chance. He needs to just stay home! Kill my little songbirds? I think not!

Well, guess I'll go watch "Perry Mason." I love that show. Sometimes it's hard to follow, the script is pretty choppy at times, but as long as Raymond Burr is on, I don't much care what the storyline is. Blessings, friends! --Romeena
