January 25, 2010 - Msg 77396: Hello everyone.

Thanks auh2o and MDC. And a hello to albert who is a newcomer to me.

In response to auh2o's "How are you doing?", I'm still experiencing hard times. I've tried for a whole year to re-enter the work force in my own career field and in others. But in spite of my two college degrees and over 20 years of work experience, I can't even get an interview. And sad to say, prayers by myself and others have not changed things for the better.

I'll have to skim through the archives to see what I have missed here since my last visit.

MDC, I think Trapper John MD is the television show you could not remember that starred Pernell Roberts.
Also, thanks for the resume tip. I purchased a course about writing resumes and spent an entire day completely revising mine. It's down to just two pages. I even submitted my resume to a professional expert for evaluation. Also, each time I personalize it for the job I'm applying for by addressing most, if not all the requirements they specify. Still success avoids me.

Be careful out on them highways and biways Rev. You never know when you will run into a check point chickee.

I had not heard about Pernell Roberts Possum. I enjoyed his show "Trapper John" back in the day.

So MDC, will Warner hang up his cleats? I hate to see him retire, but I understand if he does. I am thinking Favre will for real this time.

Auh2o, Did you hear that exchange between Michelle Bachman and Arland Spector? What a pompous @** he is!

January 26, 2010 - Msg 77414: Hi all,

Got back from our little trip on Saturday night, but haven't had much opportunity to check in. We traveled by train, and I have to say, I loved it! I'd like to take a train to go everywhere. Well, anywhere in the continental United States. I hear trains don't do so well when traveling over water. ;)

Asa, I like your dream team. But I don't know that I would put Ann Coulter in there. Don't get me wrong, I like most of what she says because she is right-on most of the time, but she can tend to be a little too extreme far-right, imo. And then we wouldn't be able to complain about all the far-left people in this present administration. ;)

Praying for you, PH.

January 26, 2010 - Msg 77415: For offering their words of encouragement, thanks to auh2o, MDC, Asa, Me-They, possum under a rock, and Sterling Holobyte. I hope I didn't miss anyone.

possum under a rock, so sorry to hear that your husband is in the same boat as I am. Together, maybe we can keep it afloat until the storm dissipates.

Maude, good luck with your upcoming surgery.

And even though she is not here, good luck to Boo regarding Bruce's medical procedure. I wonder if it was related to her recent major build and move, or was it purely coincidental.

Sterling Holobyte, I'm also partial to train travel. My dad worked for the railroad so every year, we took our family vacation by rail. As an adult, it is my preferred mode of travel whenever it is practical.

Folks, try to catch the REV's Salvation Saloon video if you can. The preachin' is brief and touching, the praising is sincere, and the music and singing is top notch. See my Msg 77404 for details on how to view it.

I decided last night to do the gore thing and go green. Turned off the tv as a demonstration of my devotion to the enviorment. I think it worked too. I know I feel better. :)

MDC, You never answered me about what you thought Warner was going to do. But I read yesterday that he will announce his decision on Friday. And those players close to him feel he will retire. I hate to see it, but I think it's most likely the right thing for him. He's been fun to watch, and his story has been an inspiration, for me at least.

Glad your trip went smooth Spot. Now, whats for breakfast?

Maudie, I pray that all will go well with your surgery and that you have a quick and complete recovery. Keep us posted.

Prayers for Bruce and Boo as he has his procedure done today I think Saint Susan said. Glad he's getting that done.

Sterling and PH, I have never ridden a train other than a commuter run, and that is all of about 40 miles. But even after that short of a ride I find myself getting a bit blah. I gaet motion sickness just being a passanger in a car. Put me in a backseat and I turn green pretty quick. Put me in the front seat as a passanger and it's a bit better, but not much. Put me behind the wheel though, and I'm just fine. Go figure? Anyway, I doub't I could do mu train travel for that rreason alone. It does look fun though.

Well prayers for all that need them. (I bet that's all of us)

January 28, 2010 - Msg 77439: ky girl, so sorry to hear about your mother's declining health. Since her doctor does not seem to know what is wrong with her, I have a suggestion.
I enjoy watching a program on the Discovery Health channel called Mystery Diagnosis. They report on illnesses that stump the medical community until someone gets lucky with the correct diagnosis months or years later. You can view these episodes online at http://video.tvguide.com/, type in Mystery Diagnosis in the Find Videos box, and click on Find Videos.
I would highly recommend that you make some time to look through them and watch those that deal with the symptoms your mom has. You might be able to diagnose her problem yourself.

January 28, 2010 - Msg 77440: Spot, it's good to hear that your move and round trip were successful. So what's for supper?

Asa, I've had nearly 30 years of commuter train experience along with the passenger train experience. As for motion sickness, the only times I experienced that was on a Navy ship during bad weather. Although it was available, I never took any motion sickness pills. I preferred dealing with it the manly way ... puking my guts out.

January 28, 2010 - Msg 77449: Hi, I am still without a computer but wanted to drop in and let you know how things went with bruce's heart cath today. Turns out that he had a blockage of 95% in the artery that feeds blood to the left ventricle (the one they call "The Widow Maker"). They put in a stint right away and doc said he is very lucky! I am relieved that he finally did what should have been done a year ago. Interestingly, Romeena, he said that Bruce had developed quite a bit of collateral circulation as his heart tried to compensate for the blockage so it has been blocked for awhile. He had a nuclear stress test over a year ago that showed nothing. They kept him at the hospital for tonight but everything is going well so far. You all were right, he certainly was a ticking time bomb but the Lord spared him. Thank you so much for your prayers on his behalf. I love you all and miss you but I didn't pressure Bruce about setting up the computers. I should be back soon.

Gotta get the kids home and into bed. They have been with St. Susan all day.

First, it's from REV! Second, all our recent talk of KY, third, well never mind...I think you get me!
haha.
Someone's doing a take off on Cary Grant, I see.
BOO, that is wonderful news, not about the blockage, but because it was found and taken care of!! woohoo Now get that man on fish oil and garlic and that plaque will melt away.
Even if the doc put him on an RX, it will also really help him. Good, natural artery cleaners!
Prayers continue.

Poor Horatio- I have no idea what's going on in the sports world, except for Tiger, of course, so I understand your sentiments. I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. I'm about to re-enter the workforce myself. Hopefully we can both find employment soon!
Susan- Thanks for letting us know. Prayers!
Possum- Hope Miss Lacey and her Mama and Grandmama are doing well! You mentioned "Bonanza" and I got an email yesterday that bluebehmoth.com has a sale on downloads of the show. I like that company because it's ran by Vision Forum that has good, solid Christian products.
Asa- Okay, Cream Puff! I love that episode.
Big Maude- In all of my lack of rockin' here I missed what type of surgery you are having. I'll pray for safety and quick healing girl.
Sterling- How fun! I have never ridden a train except for a subway.
KyGirl- I'm so sorry. I hope something will be found. Maybe she should go to a doctor in a large city.
Rev- Glad you made it home.
MDC- I don't know about the Jim Lindsey episode. It's too "rockin'" for me ;0).
Mavis- I saw your episode last night. What a flirtatious girl you are!
Tom- Hey buddy! Hope you are well.
Well, friends, I suppose I should get back to the taxes. Then I need to get my exercise in for the day. Y'all take care and hope you have a wonderful day!

January 29, 2010 - Msg 77468: I heard Opie is gonna go to the Ceti Alpha V pet shop up in Mt Pilot. I sure hope he is aware to avoid those critters in the glass tanks (they have a way of wrapping themselves around the cerebal cortex of those handling them). Not an ideal pet for a Mayberry lad.

Prayers going out to Boo and Bruce. (The Widow Maker?? Yikes!!)
Sunny and mild out on my side of the Porch. A fine day indeed!
Take care porchers, and prayers going out to those who are caught in that icy "I-40" storm I've been hearing about on the news.

January 29, 2010 - Msg 77469: Good Friday evening folks! Just checking in from home. Expecting a snow storm any time on my end of the porch, sounds like there is snow all around us but none here..yet. 5-8 inches expected by tomorrow afternoon.

Boo, so glad Bruce is okay and they were able to take care of things quickly. God is good. Hopefully he will feel better as well.

Had all my pre admit stuff done today and was told to be there by 9 am. My doctor said my surgery would be later in the am on Monday. 9 am is better than having to be there at 6 am and then left waiting in some room half the day for them to come get me.

My daughter Beth is starting to drive and has drivers ed. Prayers for my patience with her and this process.

thanks again for the prayers. Hopefully, I can post again before Monday morning. Thanks for the email possum!

Dinner menu will be: fried chicken with crusts, mashed potatoes, gravy, SLAW, peas, corn, carrots,
biscuits. warm apple cobbler with homemade ice cream. tea, kool aid to drink. see you at supper!

Prayers and blessings to all.

January 29, 2010 - Msg 77470: Hello everyone.

Boo, I'm shocked to hear about Bruce's artery blockage. Considering he did so much manual work on your new house, I'm surprised he didn't end up with a heart attack sooner. He is one lucky fellow.

SPOT, good luck on your return trip from Valdosta.

auh2o, no need to apologize about posting something political. I enjoy reading them. And your link brought back memories for me about the Blizzard of '67.

ky girl, did you see my Msg 77439?

Hey TOM. Thanks for that reminder about Groundhog Day. You are correct, it is just around the corner. But I have two groundhogs to worry about; one in the USA, and a separate one in Canada.

Hey pappabear. Five repeat postings in a row? Have you got the hiccups?

Lucy, so sorry to hear you are in the same boat as I am concerning employment.

MDC, too bad I missed that TAGS episode about my namesake.

Big Maude, I'm surprised they are allowing you to arrive so soon before the surgery. Good luck.

Poor Horatio

January 29, 2010 - Msg 77471: Evenin' y'all! Funny, you should call us the original "fun girls",Rev- when I first came to this website,I joined over at Miss Crump's. I picked "Fun Girl" as my nickname, not knowing someone would have certainly already chosen that one. I was "NAVE" (naive)! So,I had to pick another and that's how "possum under a rock" was created!

Boo, Thank the Lord that Bruce got in & had that test! So,so glad to get the news that he's on the path to wellness!

Now we've got to get Maude through her surgery. We'll take turns bringing your little blue pills to you, fluffing your pillows, and tucking the blankets good and snug around your legs like Aunt Bee did for Andy. You'll be well in no time,Maude!

Hey Lucy! I found a Bonanza DVD for $4 at Target when I was Christmas shopping. Had to buy it for myself! It has over 30 episodes on it,plus 3 bonus eps of Wagon Train. Can't beat that! Good quality, too. Only the original Bonanza theme song isn't on them-some other tune at the intro. But,for $4 I can live with that!

That's a good supper you cooked for us Maudie- I'll be right over. With Spot away,we might even get second helpings! LOL

Rev,wonder if y'all will get some icy weather this weekend? Down here they are only predicting rain. Hope its not too rough on ya.

Well, guess I'd better scoot. Gonna head over to spot's & make sure his stuff is all back in order after that wild party we had.I'll clean up so good that he'll never know we were there! Ha Ha
Y'all have a good night-love to all!

Thanx for the excellent dinner, Maude. The warm apple cobbler & homemade ice cream was extra good. (I tried not to be too much of a pig. lol!)
Possum! That Bonanza DVD sounds neat. I'm curious as to what that different theme song sounds like. Is it even a little bit like the original, but tweaked and altered to avoid copywrite infringement?

PH-What area was hit by the Blizzard of '67? How bad was it? I can remember our blizzard like it was yesterday, very exciting and scary.

Big Maude-Did ya make enough slaw to ride the storm out?

Hey, just wondering, does anyone know when pappabears B-Day is? (hehe) I kid, I kid.

pappabear-February is a big birthday month in my clan, my wife, a daughter, a brother, and a niece, all within 8 days of each other.

Lucy-Good to see ya.

It's another 3 dog night on this end of the Porch so I guess that means joy to the world, Eli's coming.
