Hi honeys and dears.
Boo- did you see my suggestion about the vehicle AC awhile back? Hope you give it a try.
Boo- remember, even Jesus himself could not convince everyone of the gospel message. Some even wanted to push him off a cliff. So we do our best, we pray, but the Word is very clear to not "worry." If i worried about my military nephews, for example, i'd be a basket case. Ya just gotta lift them up and ask the Lord's protection.
AFD-22 days-wonderful and
Me-They -19 days. The "race' is on! haha
Hope ya all have fun in chatroom. I write from work mostly, so i cant.
Buckeye- how's things in Lincoln. Plenty hot here. Fires are being contained, but we still need rain! Camels wont even come here! ha
Cowgirl sent me some "Wanted dead or alive" dvds with steve Mcqueen. That was almost as good as maverick. Miss you on the western site.
Ro, thanks again for the picture look at the porchsters.
Whatever happend to Chuck?
Fred Goss, where are you too ole buddy?
Prayers for all,

Gotta go send an email to a dear niece who is having a tough time. Her mom and dad just went through a horrid divorce and now her dad is dying of cancer. Niece is 24 and on her own for the first time. Just want to let her know we love her and are praying for her. I am NOT worrying, though.

BTW Charlotte, how's your Mom doing? OK I hope.

June 28, 2006 - Msg 41670: Morning porch family. Don't forget breakfast: French toast with maple syrup and powdered sugar, bacon and ham, eggs, coffee, tea white or chocolate milk. I believe we are having lunch at the diner today. Mavis, not sure what happened but all of a sudden I could not get my message to go into the chat roo. It would type into the box but it would not move to the room. I will try again tonight if I get time. You guys have a great day and act like somebody. Big Maude

June 28, 2006 - Msg 41671: Good morning everyone! That breakfast sounds delicious, BIG MAUDE (I was gonna use your initials but then thought better of it).

Looks like some of you had a regular party last night. That Sarah's is becoming a regular Mrs. Wiley's. I'd drop over but I ain't gonna stand in no stag line with a bunch of slumped over teenage boys and Mr. Schwamp. Actually, like I mentioned yesterday, I'm just no much into it. But y'all have fun and don't stay up too late.

MDC: Yeah, it's the final countdown. The Mrs. still thinks we're going to go early. LUCY: We are having a girl. We always find out, too. The Mrs. went to the doctor yesterday and all seems well.

I have a question for all you car people out there (Me? As long as it runs, has a radio and a/c I'm happy)...We are getting ready to purchase a minivan and are going to sell one of our current vehicles. We have a 1998 Honda Civic and a 2002 Hyundai Sante Fe. Both have been well-maintained and are in great shape. The dilemma is this: should I sell the Honda, which has 155,000 miles but gets 35 miles per gallon, or the Hyundai, which is newer, has 90,000 but gets 24 mpg? The Mrs. thinks we should stick with the newer vehicle, but I'm not so sure. What do y'all think?

Welcome back to POOR HORATIO. I trust your work was fruitful. Great to have you back. It's funny, by now I usually can tell which regular wrote a post even before I get to the signature. Everyone has a pretty distinctive style. I must say, though, that your posts are far and away the most distinctive, in my opinion. I can't really explain it. They are very thoughtful and intelligent, direct, and "calm," for lack of a better word. That's doesn't completely convey my thoughts, but it'll have to do.

Hey, CT! I saw your pics in the album. Handsome family you have there. As Aunt Nora would say, "handsome, handsome, handsome!"

How's it going, BOO?

Hey to ASA, MAVIS, BWB and everyone else hanging out on the porch this morning. Where's SPOT been, anyway? Did I miss something. Safe trip ROMEENA. What are ya bringin' us back?!?

It finally stopped raining here!

June 28, 2006 - Msg 41674: HAHAHA, Me-They, I loved your thoughts on Big Maude's initials! (sorry Maude...heehee). You are so right about everyone's posting style and I agree about Poor Horatio. I think that is why I missed him so much this past week when things were crazy here on the porch. I think Au20 has a similar stlye to Horatio. Romeena has that, "wise, firm but loving Texas woman style" that I love. Charlotte has a very sweet, lady-like style. ASA has a very clever, funny and "good old boy" style, he is also very loving to his friends. MDC is very caring and a very nice guy who always mentions praying for us. TOM is our honest poet. Lucy is always thinking of others and encourages us in her posts. Millie has a very innocent way about her that is wonderful and she is so brave and just an inspiration to everyone. Big Maude is someone who cares for the needs of others and is a faithful type, not alot of words but a big heart. Floyd is the no-nonsense voice of reason, Father-figure of the porch, and a real "go-getter". Mavis is the hard-working, caring, soft-heart of the porch and sometimes I get the feeling that this porch means more to her than it does to any of us. She has been here a long time (very faithful person to her friends). I don't know BWB very well yet but he seems to really need some encouragment and friends and I am glad he is saying so now. Warren, you are young and learning how things work around here. I think you really want to fit in and be a help to people here. Hope we can be a help to you. Me-They, you are a very wise, Christian man, devoted to your family and you are outspoken about your beliefs. I like that! Sorry if I missed someone, just tell me I missed you and I will say something nice about ya!....don't be shy.

ASA!! If you are going to be wearing that toolbelt over at Sarah's I am going to HAVE to find my way over there somehow! My hubby ended up working late so I didn't ask him to show me how to get on at Sara's...maybe tonight. When he works on computers all day I hate to ask him, but.....if you are wearing the toolbelt I might have to ask him.

By the way, Me-They, don't worry about talking too much. I always hate to see your posts end because I always find them interesting.

Better go do some work.

Boo

June 28, 2006 - Msg 41675: Thanks for the kind words, BOO. I generally agree with your assessment of everyone's style. Except about that one guy being wise.

Me They, You were talking about knowing who it is posting just by reading the post. Well when I was reading about you not calling Big Maude by her initials I thought for sure it was Boo. That just sounded like her cute sense of humor. It threw me to see your name on the end. I did see Boo got a laugh out of it though, and so did I.

Thanks for cooking while spots gone Maude. (don't tell him this but you cook better than he does) lol jk spot.

Tom, did you get that roof fixed? I'll be over to help (with my toolbelt on) in a bit.

I do the housework and then when I need a break, I can sit down on the porch for a few minutes with a cup of coffee or a cold drink (today it's rootbeer) and just relax and talk with friends for a minute. It really is nice. I think I am going to have to start coming on less in the evenings, though. When you have young children, spouse and 2 elderly parents wanting your attention, there isn't alot of time to sit and be with friends in the evening and soon the kids will be back in school and I won't have as much time with them. I know you guys understand. I need to come here and take this time for myself but I have to keep my priotities in order.

BOO: About the evening visits, I'd have the same concern. Though since the kids go to bed at 8:30 (7:30 your time) and the Mrs. works several nights a week, I'd probably end up on way too much if I was into that sort of thing. Y'all are a joy to talk to, that's for sure.

Hey, VICKS rules!

I wanted to tell you guys about my afternoon. After the cleaning and laundry I sat down on the couch for a little break while watching "In Search Of", when I heard my mom shout, "Honey, I've gotta go! Get out of the bathroom!" to my Dad (poor mom had a generous portion of prunes last night at dinner). Well, then I heard her wail, "It's too late!!" Poor thing. The next thing I knew, here came day standing in the doorway with the most pitiful expression. He just looked at me and said, "I'm gonna kill myself."...ha..I know its not really funny but I had to laugh. Of course, I went and took care of the mess (and what a mess!), gave mom a shower and put the dirty things in the washing machine (on extra-wash with bleach!). My poor Dad must have said "Thank you!" ten times. In the midst of all this, Sean had gone down to his friends house while I was getting mom out of the shower I heard someone frantically banging on the front door. I left poor mom in the buff and ran to see what in tarnation was going on. I opened the door and Sean fell in crying and saying he had been stung by a red wasp! Oh boy, the fun never ends around her....Needless to say, I needed a break after dealing with all that and here I am.

Anything interesting going on with you guys??

June 28, 2006 - Msg 41707: Hey to all! It's been a while since I checked in, but just wanted to drop by and say hey.

Anybody been to Dollywood? We're taking the younguns there the week after next.

Good advice you gave Boo there, Floyd. My friend used to tell me all the time that worry does absolutely nothing to avoid bad things happening. True enough, but if you're like me, sometimes you're afraid to relax.

Did anyone answer the Stacy Crawford question? I believe he was the guy Barn mistakenly picked up when Andy and Ellie Walker concocted the bogus drugstore robbery. Turns out he really WAS wanted in Mt. Pilot or somewhere.

We got a computer when my girls were 5½. Fortunately they showed no interest in it - other than researching for homework - until the past year or two. Needless to say they were monitored CLOSELY and the only computer connected to the internet in the house is in a centrally-located area. You never know what trash is going to pop up in the search engines.

Wishing everyone a beautiful rest of the week and weekend. God bless.

The only Stacy I can think of on TV from back in the day was when Jerry Van Dyke played DVD's brother, "Stacy," on The DVD Show. Funny, funny men - both of them!

Off to watch the flowers grow. This year I went TROPICAL! Banana trees, cannas (buggers are 7' tall at the tip of the tallest bloom stalk!), bouganvillea, firebush, Pride of Barbados, umbrella palms, Esperanza, caladiums, gingers, and tiki torches for sitting out at night under the stars. Oh boy!

June 28, 2006 - Msg 41710: Ha! You guys sure know how to brighten my day. Such humorous quotes..

The circus isn't over yet, Me-They. The Occupational Therapist arrived to help my mom re-learn some cooking skills and 2 of my son't friends are here helping him get into mischeif...I just looked out the back window and saw my son riding Grandpa's riding mower at top speed with an ice chest tied to the back with one of his friends riding it! Just a couple of weeks ago, he broke the mower by pulling one of his friends in a wagon behind it so I brought him inside to give him the lecture about doing the same thing again. His response: "But the ice chest is lighter than the wagon"...My response: "yes, but the kid riding on it is not! You are grounded from lawn mower use!!" Kids!

Hey DES, good to see you again. I love the look of Bouganvillea but I hear they have alot of thorns and are hard to mow around. I saw one yesterday that was enormous, probably 15 feet high and 20 feet in diameter, gorgeous!

Son just stuck his head in the door and asked, "Mom, can I have a sleep-over tonight?"...Right! Like that's gonna happen. No way!

Maude, will you call and reserve me that corner room at the "Y"??

June 28, 2006 - Msg 41711: Me-They says, "I would rather saw my arm off with a dull knife". Ha! My mom used to say, "I would rather poke myself in the eye with a rusty fork (or sharp stick, depending on the occasion)!"

Deputy Warren Ferguson

June 28, 2006 - Msg 41715: To homemaker Msg 41672 & 41695, my prayers for your critical needs have been personally delivered to God. I was watching an episode of "Touched By An Angel" and I felt Him sitting right along side of me.

To Barnwannabe, I see that Mavis has provided you with a way to contact David Browning, a professional Barney Fife impersonator.
But I still came up with two ideas you mighth want to consider:
#1 - Go to www.google.com, click on IMAGES, then search using the keyword "barney fife". That should come up with plenty of uniform photos to assist you.
#2 - Why not just rent or purchase a light gray colored uniform, with silver accessories (badge, buttons, name tag). Then use light gray actor's grease paint to cover your exposed skin (face, neck and hands). You will look like a black & white version of Barney. Rather unique, isn't it?

To Charlotte Tucker Msg 41662, thank you for welcoming me back. It's good to be back here amongst friends.

To Me-They Msg 41667, I am surprised to learn how distinctive my postings are to you. And thank you for those kind words. I take a little extra care in composing my postings beforehand. Afterall, they represent me to all of you folks. It's only when I'm in a hurry or typing in the dark that I unintentionally introduce misspellings.
I just remembered the question I wanted to ask you. How does your posting nickname relate to TAGS?

To Boo Msg 41674, I am impressed with your ability to be able to classify your fellow porchsters in such a manner. But you left out "Tall, dark and handsome" in my description. Don't let that happen again please. ;)

To M-T Msg 41675, I think Boo meant "wise-guy" for you. ;)

To buckeye aka old colt, I think that's admirable that you chose to honor someone involved with charity work by adopting their name as your nickname.

To ~De§~ Msg 41707 & 41708, hello parrothead. Are you "wasted away again in Margaritaville"? Have you ever found your "lost shaker of salt"?
As for me, I'm just "strummin' my six string ... on my front porch swing". Do you remember me? I was around here back when you were just plain Des.

To Boo Msg 41690, you are so right about this here being like a real front porch. I'm here with my fender guitar to accompany anyone who needs background music to sing. We can all sing to bluegrass music, harmonize to some gospel, or just listen to an instrumental, duelin' banjos style.

To Boo Msg 41699, sometimes when trouble comes around, it comes in buckets. "I wonder what causes that?"

To SPOT Msg 41712, a welcome back from your camping trip. Sorry, but all we got left over is fish. We didn't expect you until the morning. You should have called ahead.

To Deputy Warren, Msg 41714, and a howdy back at ya! I'm doing fine so far.

Hey Folks,

I thought I'd stay away for a bit after the other day. Because...well, you're not gonna believe this but sometimes, on occasion, every once in a while, I just don't know when to shut-up.

Floyd-My goodness, you don't have to apologize to me. You don't know me from Adam. You were nothing but a gentlemen. This is your baby and you were just taking care of it. Thanks again for giving us the opportunity to sit rock away on your Front Porch. By the way, I'm not a lawyer. I do have a couple of BA's but no law degree.

Boo-I sure hope your day got a little sunnier. I was just kidding around a bit with that sideways comment. It's always a pleasure.

Poor Horatio-Good to see ya back and not jus for all of your HTML trickery.

Spot-Good to see you back as well although Maude was great. I do love the way you fry your bacon in butter then give us from fruit to make up for it. Just teasing buddy.

Warren-Hope you're feeling better.

Des-Hey there! Nope never been to Dollywood.

God Bless,
auh2o

June 28, 2006 - Msg 41719: Thank's auh2o and Big Muade. Im feeling like I have a small touch of the flu (yuck).

MDC, Bennett ticked me off so bad with that I could just spit in his eye. Very strange considering Hatch was the sponsor. Politicians...they're all nuts!

Boo, you really had some kind of day dear. You seam to be dealing with it well though. Prayers for you, and still praying for you Homemaker. Hope all is well dear.

Chatted for a few with Maude and Millie tonight. Missed Poor Horatio. Hard to see that 1/2 a boy though.

Get better DWF. When I saw MDC refer to you as DWF it took me a while to think who he meant.

Have a safe fun time in Florida Ro. Send us a post card. (boy, they sure are biting down here.:))

June 28, 2006 - Msg 41731: You guys are so awesome! You always make me laugh.

Ok Auh2o, I won't forget "tall, dark and handsome" again! By the way, I didn't understand the "sideways" comment so no harm done.

I have something really wonderful to share with you all. Remember the folks that I asked you to pray for named Keith and Linda. Linda was taken off life-support and in a coma after having 2 lung transplants. Well, the family has been there waiting for her to pass away, basically. On Sunday she woke up, started talking and eating and is doing well. The doctor wants to keep her for some physical therapy for a week and then send her home. It seems her kidneys and liver were starting to fail and now are functioning and doing fine. She also had some calcium deposits that had caused lumps on her fingers and arm and they have dissapeared. My pastor saw that for himself today when he was visiting her in the hopspital. The doctors told Keith there was no explanation and called it a miracle. Our church is rejoicing with the family! Thank you for your prayers in there behalf.

Hope Warren is feeling better soon. Prayers for you Warren that you will have a speedy recovery.

I didn't get to go to Sarah's tonight. Hubby came home sick with a bad cold and I ended up going to church. Think I will go to bed. Goodnight!

Boo

June 28, 2006 - Msg 41732: Almost forgot to tell Homemaker that earlier today when I started praying for her, I really felt God's presence. I just knew he was doing something. Hang in there and keep us posted on how you are doing.

June 29, 2006 - Msg 41735: boo- why do you get all the excitment at home? what a summer, eh? praise the lord about linda, prayer is the best medicine and let god handle the details. floyd, that superman movie does look good but i am disappointed they decided not to add fight for the american way nor show the american flag in the movie cause they want to add a global touch, must be getting old and set in myway. in illinois there is a town on the southern tip that is named metroplis and they have a big statue and musuem, and an annual supperman convention every year. poor haratio- thanks for the kind words. our youth are underrated and intavative, and colts unselfish actions i felt it was not only in keeping with the mayberry standards but an honor to use his name of colt, least we forget the milk of human kindness. spot, good having you back. are you planning a big cookout for us at meyers lake on the fourth of uly with fireworks and a gregory peck movie? colt

June 29, 2006 - Msg 41736: mdc- still collecting and displaying toys of our youth. i saw in the paper where hugh obrian who played wyatt earp is 81 and sunday married for the first time to a 54 year old woman. they were married at forest lawn memorial park cementary and had a john wayne and pope paul 11 look alike in attendence. you might post it on cowgirls site as i'm having trouble with pop ups only there. charlotte tuker- just jump in where you can and hang on. a one, a two. mavis, jimmy buffet sure can sing even without that special barney mike, speaking of mike has anyone heard from rev lately? i got one of his cds. goober, where is you and gizzmo. dess and auh20 where you all ben? we sure have missed you. possum, dixie your rockers are getting rusty, come out, come out whereever you are. asa- ro's soaking up the rays in florida, huh? while we take care of the home front. good morning tommy, where's our tom? warren, beakfast on big maude and lunch at millies, don't you just hate it when folks are so freely volunterring your time to cook? barnee wanna be- can you catch the tip and dishes today? oops there i go volunterring folks again. asa and i have to rest after a big meal or we'd help. well time to mosey down to walleys for an orange crush in a bottle and watch folks frown as the dings at the gas pump ring off the scale, i don't know if i can handle all the excitment but i'll try. colt

June 29, 2006 - Msg 41737: Morning folks.
Colt, I have only one thing to say about resting after a big meal....you are sooooo right daddy!:)

Mavis, sorry we missed you last night at Sarahs. I figured you was busy. Maybe tonight?

Boo, that is wonderful news about Linda. I would say God has a plan for her.

Charlotte, don't go beating yourself up inside about the trivia stuff. I'll let you in on a secret. Remember the episode where Jim Lindsey comes to town and Andy recruits the band to help out the town band? At one point, when the town band is practicing before the Mayor comes to hear them, Barney bangs his cymbals and says "cool it,let Andy make the scene" to get the band to quiet down so Andy can talk. Floyd reponds "he got that from hanging around Phil Sunkel". Phil Sunkel was one of Lindseys boys (the one with the goutee). Well for years and years and years I never got that. I always thout Floyd was saying Phil's uncle. And I always wondered who the heck Phil's uncle was. I figured there was some edited scene somewhere about Phil's uncle. It wasn't till just a few years ago that I finally figured out what Floyd was saying. In fact, I'm considering changing my name here to Phil's Uncle. What would you all think of that? The only bad thing is if you use my initials I would be known as P.U. Not sure my ego could handle that. LOL Still, I like the idea of changing names. Maybe we should put it to a vote. Asa or Phil's Uncle. You decide.

Asa

June 29, 2006 - Msg 41738: Morning to you all. Hope everyone had a peaceful and restful night. Enjoyed my chat with Millie, Asa and Warren over at Sarah's last night. Colt says breakfast is on me today.. My Mom always said I wear my food well... :). Anyway I guess we are having rice krispies, toast with jelly, fresh fruit and coffee cake with coffee or tea to drink. Good Thursday to all. Hey SPOT, when we having that fish fry?? Big Maude

June 29, 2006 - Msg 41739: HAHA! PU, that's funny ASA...I have to tell you, ASA, that if you do change your name to Phil's Uncle, there is no way I am typing "Phil's Uncle" everytime I talk to you so you will have to get used to PU. haha...if you don't mind that, go ahead. I personally think that if you are going to change your name, you should change it to Toolbelt. heehee

I can't beleive that when I praising the memebers on the porch that I forgot my friends Possum, Dixie, and Goober! Well, I have to say that Possum is just the sweetest possum in the world. Very down to earth, always thankful for her blessings and always kind. Dixie is a breath of fresh air on the porch, with her youthfulness and she also gives us a real sense of pride in her strengths and accomplishments. She makes us look to the future with hope. Goober is the nice, "guy next door" who is always polite, unassuming and always encouraging.

Well, wanted to try to get to Sarah's tonight but I have a date with a friend for dinner and maybe a movie. I heard "Click" with Adam Sandler is really good.

Gonna make some chicken soup today for Hubby's runny nose. Talk to you later,

Boo

June 29, 2006 - Msg 41740: To Boo. After reading your Msg 41731 about your friend Linda, all I have to say is HALLELUJAH !!! I love it when God takes over and shows those smart doctors exactly who's in control around here. Thank you God for answering our prayers.

from Poor Horatio

June 29, 2006 - Msg 41741:
Morning Porch,

Boo-I'm afraid you have me a bit confused with Poor Horatio; He's the "tall, dark and handsome" one (at least that's what he's telling everybody, lol). The sideway comment just meant that things got a little out of kilter, they weren't upright but tipped over sideways. Great! news concerning your friends.

Mavis-Why it does sound like we suffer from the very same thing.

Me-They-The Goldwater playing cards sound pretty interesting. I have quite a few of his campaign buttons. I collect campaign buttons with a particular interest in "right wing nuts" like myself. I have all of Barry's books that he's written. I'm trying to get all first editions but I'm missing a few in that regard.

Asa&Colt- I've always found that an after meal nap does wonders for the waist line.

MDC-Barry, I believe would most certainly have denied the Mafia.

God Bless,
auh2o

June 29, 2006 - Msg 41742:
Good Morning Poor Horatio

auh2o

June 29, 2006 - Msg 41743: Good morning everyone! It is (finally) a bright sunny day here in Maryland.

Praise the Lord about your freind, BOO. I wonder how people can see things like that happening, and feel the power of prayer, and still not believe.

HORATIO: I took my name from one of my very favorite episodes, "Barney and the Choir." It was one of the vocal exercises he did.

DWF: I hope that you feel better this morning. Try some of Colonel Harvey's elixir.

BWB and DWF: Something y'all mentioned has been weighing on me for a few days. Both of you professed a relationship with God but admitted that you didn't attend church regularly. I'm not judging either of you, but I did want to offer, as a friend, that both of you would greatly ebenfit from finding a Biblicallt-based, well-balanced and healthy church to attend. The church was created by God for a reason. It is my belief that Christians need to belong to a body believers, for their own benefit. I know that I find immeasurable fellowship with my fellow Porchsters, but there really is no substitution for an actual, in-person, hug with your arms association with fellow believers. I guess what I am saying is, while we are blessed that you have joined us, and will try to be a blessing in your lives, do try and find a good church home. Your lives will be so much richer for it.

Well, gotta get back to the plow...

Me-They
