Good evening! MDC, that chip under the skin thing gives me the creeps. Even though I'm a Christian, I still feels scared when I think about those kinds of things. When I was a new believer I used to attend a church where the pastor seemed to delight in trying to scare us by telling us that we
better watch out because if we were doing something, "wrong" when the Lord returned, we would get left behind. It was a mean thing to do because even to this day I feel nervous about it.
Yes, I remember your story about Noah and the bird, funny! Today my sister sent me one about a little boy who was in church with his mom and the preacher was praying, "Lord, we are but dust!". The little boy then asked him mother (loudly), "Mom, what's butt dust?" heehee
Well, I would love to chat longer but I am wiped out. Been a busy week so far.

Boo,pappa, I agree not much on scare tactics, i just thought it was interesting that the chip was approved and on the news this week. This past Sunday the pastor spoke of the 10 bridesmaids where five had extra oil for their lamps and 5 had none, and all he summed up with was "have extra oil." Boo, we're all sinners and will all probably be doing SOMETHING "wrong" when He returns, but if we have that extra oil,(a repentant heart and love of God)we're as ready as humanly can be. OK, Bluey goes the box!!

Good Day! MDC, I have heard a few different sermons on the parable you spoke of. I know I love God, hope I keep a repentant heart. I remember years ago I had heard another one of those scary sermons and it was bothering me. That night I was laying in bed thinking about it and out of nowhere I distinctly heard these words, "What would a wedding be without the bride?". I still think of that when I am tempted to be afraid about it. The bible calls us the Bride of Christ and it never says anything about a divorce in the future!
Good news, it looks like our house is sold. Yeehaw! Some yankee who is moving down from New York is buying it (love those yankees!). We got pretty well what we were asking for it. Of course those New Yorkers are used to paying ALOT for their houses.
Yes Asa, a moving Butt gathers no dust, truely.
I saw something so funny today. I have told ya'll about the redneck guy that lives next door to my parent..he's the one with the goats and the pigs that were digging up dad's yard...well, the guy has this really OLD truck that is covered in so much Bondo that you can't even tell what color it is and this morning the front half of the truck was hanging by a chain from a tree in the guys front yard! I said, "Look Sean, a Redneck Windchime!". Wish I had a digital camera so I could take a picture of it to email to my friends.
Well, got to go get ready for a special prayer meeting being called to pray for the upcoming women's retreat. Love to All!

Pappa, thank you for trying to keep the discussion TAGS related lately. I really appreciate it! The Emmett's anniversary one is one of my favorites! I love the way Andy looks at Emmett in the kitchen and says "Let's Go." What a good friend Andy was.
November 09, 2005 - Msg 31412:
I am so pleased about Andy being recognized! I hope it makes him happy. Andy is such an endearing character as Andy Taylor, Mattlock or just when he's Andy Griffith. What always made me smile is when my kids would say things about Andy...they talk about him like they know him. I remember when my son was about 2 or 3 and he saw an old navy picture of my dad in WW2. He pointed at it and said, "Andy!". I always did think my dad resembles Andy. Also we have a painting in our home called, "Quality Time" that show a man holding the hand of a child and walking down a tree-strewn country road. Both of my children, when they were about 2, pointed at it and said, "Its Andy and his boy!". Once my Baby Girl even told me she wanted to marry Andy.
Those redneck windchimes you make sound like just the thing my neighbor would like!, PAPPA.
So funny about your son's car, KY GIRL! We had some of those cars in our family when I was a kid. I have told about this before, I think, but when I was a kid, my dad had this old, horribly ugly Rambler. He was the judge in the little town I grew up in and to get even, somebody shot out the back window of the car. There was also no floorboard on the driver's side so you could put your foot out when the brakes didn't work. When I was in 7th grade we had to do a project because it was the Biccentennial year and I painted that old car red, white and blue and it got the nickname of The Star Spangled Bomb. I don't remember what ever happened to that old thing.
Better think about getting to bed. Tommorrow's another busy day!

Well folks, if all goes well I should have internet on Monday so I won't have to go to the library to check in. They still have to see if we can even get DSL where we live. I don't think my wife nor I could go back to dial-up.
I saw the episode last night where Opie gets a girl friend his little friend(I forget his name) feels left out. Just can't get over Opie's dancing. So funny! Looks like he is trying to generate some static electricity the way he drags his feet on the carpet.
I wonder if Ron gets kidded about that scene.

Whoohooo! and Good Morning, everyone! ky girl, thanks for the personal concern. I haven't read the archives yet, will probably do that this evening, but for anyone who was wondering where I got off to, I'm fine. Left last Thursday and went to Fredericksburg to spend a long weekend being looked after by all my kids - a mini-reunion. Got home Monday evening, to find my DSL wasn't working, just got it back this morning. So, that's where I've been. Didja miss me??
Sure is quiet and lonely around here. I finally made a big decision and took the Plum to a groomer this morning. I always groom her myself, but let my family talk me into cutting her hair into a puppy cut, and I wanted a professional to do it, at least the first time. Mavis, I'm sure you'd agree with that. Anyway, I've got two things going here - missing her and having misgivings about cutting her hair. Oh, well, if I don't like it, it will grow out. Besides, her little personality can carry most anything.
Sure is good to have my computer back. I've felt so isolated! I miss the porch when I can't get here. You all have a great Mayberry day. Sugarplum said to tell you hey! --Romeena

Hey Y'all! Boo,I can just picture "The Bomb" in my mind- funny!
Pappa, thanks for informing us about Andy being honored-I think it's way overdue and good for W for recognizing Andy's contributions to American television. One of my favorite Andy "things" is the way he'd get so tickled over Don Knott's antics during a scene that he had a hard time keeping a straight face. Can't y'all see Andy wiping that big hand across his mouth, trying to keep from laughing? In the "My Fair Ernest T. Bass"episode watch him when Ernest T. goes ballistic after Mrs. Wiley calls him a creature- Andy is smiling the whole time he and Barney are trying to get Ernest T. out of Mrs. Wiley's house! It must have been so much fun working on TAGS!
Hey Sterling, that dancing of Opie's was strange,to say the least! Bet Ron did get teased a lot about it! The name of his little friend was Mike( played by Buddy Foster, the real life brother of actress Jodi Foster). I think it's cute when Mike hooks up with the girl's little sister at the end of that episode. Guess for a color episode, that's one of the best ones.Anybody know when TVLand is going B&W again? I miss Barney!
Welcome back,Ro! We missed ya! Sorry that you had to miss Asa receiving his "Pip Plaque" but he was having a fit and so we went ahead & gave it to him.You know how he gets!

We salute you, and appreciate you for all that you and others like you have done and are doing. Even though you couldn't tell it by what the media puts out, Americans love you!
Yep, Boo, a puppy cut is short, and The Plum looks adorable. I took a couple of pictures, and will put them into Romeena.myphotoalbum.com in a minute or two. Gotta transfer them from the camera to the computer and resize them, but will do it right now. She looks really cute, and seems to be very comfortable with her short haircut.
If I disappear periodically, don't be surprised. My DSL still isn't fixed, and just cuts in and out, for no apparent reason. They think it's a loose connection at the power pole (remember the infamous power pole?) and will have to send a lineman out to fix it, possibly tomorrow. It's annoying, but even so, DSL is great most of the time. In several years, this is the first real problem I've had with it, so that's pretty good, I think.
Well, gotta rustle up something to eat, and get these pictures done. Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

"Retired RAF Pilot thanks Yanks!"
In our local paper this morning a retired RAF pilot, who is here for a special remembrance day, says thanks. He and about 200 other RAF pilots trained here at our Falcon Field between 1942 and 1945!
He is here for 60th annv. to remeber his fellow countrymen who died in training here, and he publicly thanked all here who were so hospitable to them, and for the US coming to their defense in "their darkest days". He said America's assistance, training pilots, furnishing aircraft, etc help turn things around from the constant bombardment by the Germans. God bless America he said, he and his boys of the raf will never forget. WWII vets are dying at a rate of 1000 a day! Call a vet today, thank them that we can sit like we are sitting on this porch, say what we want to, and as was said long ago "I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it!"
Prayers continue for all our troops, our leaders, our families and all of this wonderful land!
Just wanted to share my feelings today! Thanks,

Heading over the Cracker Barrel for supper with Spot. Sounds good! Hubby's on standby over the three day weekend and he just got called out on a hit pole.
Love that "quaint" quote, Fred.
Thanks for the APB, MDC. Been dealing with a sinus thing and haven't felt that great. But I'm pretty much back to my old self.
So glad to hear about Andy's medal. I can just hear him telling President Bush, "'Preciate it!". Now if Barney got one, I'd expect him to say, "The president...of the United States...is gonna shake my hand. Bless his heart." ; )
Have a great day all!

Why do you want to go to the duck pond at 8, spot? We won't be able to see the ducks. ; ) We might catch us a few keepers, though, so I guess that's ok. : )
Hubby just got done working that job, will be home shortly. As spot says, lights are on!
Sitting here watching R Lee Ermey's Vietnam - really interesting. My dad served over there in 1966-7. Ermey and I were born in the same town (Emporia, KS), and my hubby works with a guy who is supposedly related to him. Don't that beat everything!

November 11, 2005 - Msg 31457:
Spot, I think I'll pass on that trip to the duck ponds. My motto is, if you think you'll need a hoodie, stay in the house! With age comes a little self-protective wisdom, or it should. Kinda hard to say that while standing on this banged-up knee.
I started the really active PT sessions today. Those people flat wore me out! Not much pain, they aren't even working on getting the knee to bend right, I've pretty much gotten that done myself. They're trying to strengthen the muscles that have gone weak during three weeks of not using them. Actually, the therapists are kind, and very inventive, and have a lot of varied and interesting routines, but it is tiring. An hour and a half is a long time for an old gal like me!
Hey to AFD and all the "where-izzers." Earlier everyone was mentioning some of their favorite "Andy" moments, but my DSL keeps cutting in and out, so haven't been able to participate. One of my favorite things is the expression in Andy's eyes when Barney has risen to a challenge and done well. Pride, love, amusement - it's all there. I love it!

since it's 6am central, i'm coming hungry spot. did anyone see the interview on entertainment tonight with 79 year old andy and he mentioned barney is 81. the amazing thing to me was how at peace he was and when asked what he told ronnie about the devinci code, he said, ronnie i'm a christian but i liked it. suppose to be more on a web site on this interview but i missed the site as 16 hours on the go yesterday has done me in. love to have someone that knows it post it. thanks. spot- is miss sherry going to get you one of them upside down trees? romeena- prayers on your recovery. i love that word where- izzers. afd- i watched mail call last night too. i thought how much pretty it was. i did a tour in 66& 67, then another one 68- into early 70. i extended 6 mos on my second tour. it shows the differences in every war. iraq is a rough one also and i hope we never repeat the treatment that the sourthern guys got after the civil war or how we were treated upon our return. i was spit on by college girls in san francisco airport and for years if you put you were a vietnam veteran on your resume or mentioned it in an interview that was certain suicide. well off to spots. for breakfast and hopefully to old ben weavers for some shopping. you know old ben is not going to die like normal folks, he's just going to nasty away. i loved andy saying that. pappa bear

pappa bear - 'Preciate your service to this fine country of ours. I could probably count on one hand the number of times my dad has talked about VN. It's just something he doesn't talk about.

Man, SPOT, you make the best breakfast!
I missed the interview, PAPPA! Didn't know about it in time. I'm sorry to hear about the way you and other Viet Nam vets were treated. Very unfair, isn't it, to be discriminated against for something like that. Be sure the ones who did it were never there...probably have no clue of the horrors. I hope Americans learned something from it and won't do the same thing to those in Iraq now. I remember when I was a new nurse (21 or 22) and I was working in an ICU. I had a patient who was a Vietnam vet...poor guy had some real issues and if he was sleeping, you couldn't touch him or he would come unglued. You had to stand back away from the bed and call his name to wake him. He was in his forties and had already had a heart attack...in fact he had the heart attack when he was in his car driving AWAY from the dr's office. He had stopped in at a small town (old) dr's office and told him he had chest pain. The old doc sent him on his way and he had a heart attack, passed out and had a wreck. When the EMTs got there he was in Ventricular Fib (heart was not beating, just sort of vibrating) and they had to keep shocking him with the defibrillator. Turns out, he had a huge mark from the steering wheel on his chest and they said he probably went into V-fib while driving, passed out and would have died right there if he had not hit the steering wheel with his chest. The impact probably got his heart beating again long enough for the EMTs to arrive. The guy did make it and left the hospital a couple weeks later...there are a few lessons in that story, one of which is sometimes what seems like a wreck might save your life. Haha! Another is...sometimes you need to get a second opinion!
KY Girl, I would love to be having your weather right now. Its way too warm here and has been for over a week. I like cold weather in Novemeber and December, otherwise it just doesn't seem like Thanksgiving and Christmas. "Hoodie weather" is just my thing. Sure hope there is some snow in my corner of heaven.
Gotta go...Erin is hear wanting me to get her some clothes so she can go outside and, "work". I'm not sure what she has in mind..probably digging up the yard with her little plastic shovel.
