May 29, 2001 - Msg 649: Hey to all! Whew... what a past couple of weeks. First I have to reformat the old Web-O-Matic, then my cable goes out, then the a/c goes out, THEN 10 days ago we had a bad thunderstorm and I fried my motherboard figure! I went from a Presario 350MHz processor and cable modem to using my kids' old AST 486.66 with a 14.4 modem and dial-up! But hey, I'm online. LOL! No complaints. I'm having to order a new part from Compaq, but it'll be fixed eventually.
Allan, your site is looking *great*! I was just there and I've never seen it looking better.
Getting to watch LOTS of TAGS while waiting to get the cable fixed. It's been great.
Just wanted to stop in and say Hey! Anyone wanting to email me, please feel free! It's lonely without my Road Runner account. (hope that worked)
Love y'all! Hope the world's treatin' you fine.

June 07, 2001 - Msg 744: Anybody going to Sarah's tonight?

June 07, 2001 - Msg 745: A fine good evenin' to you all, gentlefolk. I just stepped out into the chiaroscuro twilight of an early evening and listened to that somnolent summer song of the cicadas. Certain sights and certain smells bring all the good memories back. A tall glass of iced tea on a hot afternoon beaded all over with condensation, playing kick the can with my friends under the golden glow of an incandescent streetlight, the soft click of dominos on the front porch and the quiet laughter of dads and uncles as they hand crank a freezer of homemade ice cream. These are some of the things I love and long for. The smell of roses in the warm, late afternoon, a watermelon half floating in ice and water in an old zinc Coke cooler, water dancing like diamonds on the sun browned skin of the children as they run through the sprinkler, the smell of new mown grass and the "amble" you adopt when you're in the South because anything quicker will make you too hot. Those days when even the ceiling fans can't manage much more than moving the muggy around, freckles on pug noses, bare feet and the pop of a baseball on well conditioned leather and always, always the cicadas in the background. God bless, gentlefolk...........Jake

June 08, 2001 - Msg 746: Jake, a cow-bell ringing in the back-ground would have made your scene perfect. That brought back memories. Turner (give'em 40 they'll do 45)

*Mavis
You see him throw that tomato at me?

June 09, 2001 - Msg 758: Hi All will it was a good warm day now.
Summer was the time win you can stay out late at nigth and goto bed late becaues you did not give to git up for school the next day.
Now if you stay out late the cop will stop you and said it time for you to be in , becaues no one is safe on the street and all the bad one are out there.
Oh how i wish we can go back in time for the good old day wair thing was not to bad and at night you can go out and not have to luck your doors.
TIS HE WHO GIVES THE SEED.
AS I walked into my garden
wonder filled my soul,
looking at the flowers of
red and pink and gold.
tiny seeds i planted,
but yet before my eyes,
a picture of such beauty
gods work i recognized.
thank you,god, for flowers
they bring such joy to me,
each time i walk among them
i shall remember thee

for all who can used a pray,

TOM

June 10, 2001 - Msg 759: I, too, miss those good old days were you could sit on the porch at night and leave the windows open and didn't have to lock the doors.
I remember my two elderly aunts walking several blocks to the mall, but it isn't safe now. I long for those days gone by. My city is so dangerous. Not Mayberrish at all.
Now they are cutting the woods out two lots up from me. I think of all the birds and squirrels being left homeless. How many eggs and babies will die when their home crashes to the ground.
The crash and thud of the tall trees hitting the ground reminds me of when Hurricane Fran came through here and trees fell. The constant roar of the chainsaw and the Bobcat pushing depris around gets on my nerves and scares my cat Missy to death.
I long for last summer when things were quieter.
Hope all are well. I don't have a garden. My uncle did when he lived. He would bring us fresh vegetables. I long for those days too.
Prayers for those who are in need.

June 12, 2001 - Msg 777: Hey 776...I'm sure that's true and I didn't mean to leave anybody out. Of course, it's hard to get credit for your work if you don't sign your name. Sorry I left you out of the "consistant" group.

("Where's my plaque?? Give me my plaque...")

June 12, 2001 - Msg 787: Hey to Mayberry. Looks like 776 wants it both ways. They want to post anonymously but be recognized for posting consistantly. You can't have it both ways, friend. If you don't sign what you post, nobody notices how often you post, and they don't notice when you're not here.

June 12, 2001 - Msg 788: Hey Jelsik...I was giving Mavis the award for consistant posting....reading is easy...well, for some folks it is. ha ha..
--Floyd

June 12, 2001 - Msg 789: A LOT of people have trouble reading, what of it?!? Seriously, I don't need a plaque...most of you know how I feel about fuss and falderal....Lord knows this website is reward enough.....
