To Bulbsnatcher and Tom, thank you for asking about Sweetie. She is fine now, still on medicine, but feeling fine as a fiddle. How's everyone at 3:l0am??? Asleep I hope. I was having a bad dream and Sweetie woke me up, so I'm grateful. They all wanted to eat. Why they want to eat at this time of the morning...haha ! Okay, Bulbsnatcher, let's talk about you. Tell us all there is to know...at what age did you start snatching bulbs?...hahaha! Is this a compelsion? Just kidding. We have finally got a little rain here in NC. A little is better than none. Got woken up by the DAD-BLAME on call pager early this mornin', so I thought I'd drop in and say "Hey".

Hey Bulbsnatcher, you done said a gret-big MOUTHFUL in your Msg #893 up there. No, not that part... a little farther down... near the end there... THERE it is. Yes ma'am, you done went and reminded yourself, AND US that the "trouble" of making arrangements to be with a loved one ain't near as much trouble as we all make out, and it's somethin' we'll miss when that loved one ain't no longer around. Bless you for that, friend.

Hey to Opie Taylor, and welcome home, bud! Hey to Elinora and ~De§~ and Lillian and Buzz and Miss Ellie and just EVER'BODY this fine Sundey mornin'! *yawn* I'm gonna go back to bed now.

I'll see ya.

Hello Porchsters. My friend, "Moonbeam McSwine" came and posted a while back and she is a big TAGS fan, even posts at the Digest. She came here a while back and asked a question. I don't even know if I greeted her as a new poster ("I'm no good, I'M no good, I'M NO GOOD") and asked a question about a country singer, not Kitty Wells, but someone around that time who lost a son and dedicated a song to him. Moonbeam, I don't know who it was. If anyone here does, please post the answer. And let us all give her a big Mayberry WELCOME next time she posts. She's nice, real nice. Everyone have a good Sunday.

yo to everybody!

been taking care of robert while verleen is out of town (she's headed for canada!). it is not an easy task to say the least. at least, not working full time + i do a little work on the side. but it definately has been rewarding: just looking at his little bitty face when he is laughing and grinning and stuff is just about the best feeling i ever had. and he is learning to talk real good. and he hollers out "DADDY! DADDY!" and runs around and i chase him, then i'll sit in the floor and he hollers and jumps on me. hehe. or, he'll pull his shirt up over his head like he is hiding and says "robert, robert" so i will look for him and then he'll yank his shirt offa his head and scare me. hehehehe. next, i'll be posting home movies...lol

anyhow, don't forget to vote on the new thing up there. in a week or 2 i'll see what the verdict is. i'm working on that other stuff, too. just busy lately.

holler at y'all later

Miss Ellie, I saw Moonbeam's post and even went and did some searching on the web, but came up empty handed. I hope she gets her answer. I have one more place I can check. If I find out anything I'll let y'all know right away. Hope everyone is enjoying a nice, Mayberry-like weekend! We're doing pretty good, only one of the younguns has tonsillitis. Yesterday she was all achy and feverish, feeling awful, and I didn't know what was wrong with her. She commented that she hoped she wasn't getting scarlett fever again. She had it when she was about 5, and referred to it then as "garlic fever". LOL! Anyway, looks like a good old-fashioned case of tonsillitis. Keeping my fingers crossed that that's all it amounts to. ollie, sounds like you and your boy are having a great time! Isn't this a terrific age? I'd give anything to be able to go back so I could really enjoy them at that age! When I was right there in it I was too anxious about every little thing to relax and get the most out of those years. It's a shame is what it is. Everybody take extry good care and enjoy the rest of your weekend! ~De§~

Des, you're a doll. I know "Moonbeam McSwine" will appreciate your efforts. Will be glad when she posts again. I don't know a lot about music. I just know what I like and don't like.

Hey Lillian. I wish Ande would come back too. I need to visit her site sometime. I missed her at Mayberry Days. I meant to email her, need to, I'm just so behind.

TOM, got your snail mail. Thanks lots. Tom writes the most beautiful poems and things about God. Went to see Granny today and she was feeling better. Cooked us the best meal. Cubed steak, rice and gravy, cabbage, fried cornbread, apple crisp...wow! I'd put her cooking up to Aunt Bee's anytime. She is 89 and been cooking since she was 8. Another beautiful day.

Howdy, all! I'm writing this from my son's home in Florida - yep, I'm here again. I try to make this trip about twice a year. Bulbsnatcher, thanks for your sweet words a week or so ago. This is the first time I've been back since then. We came out here last Thursday, after making a sudden trip to San Antonio on Wednesday. Had a death in the family, had to take a Southwest flight (a cattle call, but they get you from A to B quickly, and that's what we needed) Wed morning, and back to Dallas that evening, then a flight to Florida Thurs morning. Whew! You were so right when you mentioned making arrangements to be with loved ones. My dad has been right beside me through all this, and is with me out here. He's still basically independent, but does require a little physical assistance and some supervision with choices and decisions. It gets a bit wearing at times, but it's worth it. We've had a wonderful time. My son arranged for me to go up in a glider yesterday, and my dad wanted to go too, so he arranged a flight for him, too! Honey, what a thrill! The tow plane took us up to 3,000 feet, turned us loose, and we glided in big circles back to the ground, taking about 25 minutes to get down. It was breathtaking. So quiet, just me, the young pilot and an occasional bird. I was so proud of my dad when he wanted to go, and you should have seen his ear-to-ear grin when he got back down. 83 yrs old, and up in a glider! It was a picture no artist could paint! More later - have a Mayberry day tomorrow, friends. --Romeena

She has Cystitis and been on antibiotics for 2 weeks, but yesterday and this morning she can't seem to keep any food or water on her stomach and I can tell she feels bad. When this happened with Boo a few years ago, God healed her when the doctor said he might need to operate and then still might have to put her to sleep if her bladder was in to bad ashape. I have 5 cats, so it is difficult for me to tell if Sweetie has been to the litter box. Several had been dirtied while we slept. Thanks for your prayers. Miss Ellie

Hey to everybody! Miss Ellie....you keep us up-to-date on Sweetie....bless her heart! Boy....it's been an interesting week for me. I was going to my car dealer to get a tune-up, and my radiator went blooey! I'm so glad that I got to the dealer, though....it coulda been worse....I coulda been out on the interstate or something. I tell ya what, though....$640 is a lot of money for me....that was with an oil change and two little bitty sleeve thingies for something back behind my tires. Oh, well....the tune-up can wait a few weeks! Hahahaha!

THEN...there was a storm that kinda passed through the area here....took my Bradford Pear down....roots and all! It fell on four Loblolly Pines I had too.....lost them all. The Bradford Pear was about 25-30 feet tall, I guess. Again....I'm still thankful that it wasn't worse...it didn't hurt any power lines, no one was hurt, there was no property damage to anyone else's yard, etc. I checked really close for any bird nests too...and thank goodness...there were none (wrong time of the year anyway, I guess). It sure was a pretty tree, though. Those trees don't seem to have very deep root systems though...but it was REAL healthy.

You know....little things will happen in our lives like this...and sometimes it seems a lot of them happen right together. But when you look around at all the beauty in the world overall and you say "hello" to someone and see them smile (aren't smiles grand?), or you hug someone important in your life....you realize how trivial the "little things" that happen really are.

Another joy for me is coming here and sittin' with all of you. I tell ya....you're a really fine bunch of folks here. Love to all of you ... you're really special people.

I'm just feelin' kinda sentimental today for some reason....and warm and fuzzy....hope nobody minded. Just don't forget that each of you ARE somebody!

Looks like everything is fixed on here again. Thank goodness! If you will notice, I'm just usin' good ole' black! Leon....the sleeve thingies I was talking about were behind the front wheels (well, they had to take my front tires off to get to them, anyway), and I've been told they were caliper sleeves. Mystery solved! I'll forget again what they are called, though....so they're still just "sleeve thingies" to me! Hahahahaha! All I know about cars is to have the oil changed, and to put gas in them. Hey....I HAVE put my emergency spare on my car twice, though...when I had flats on the interstate (one at night!), and nobody would stop to help me! Sniff...sniff. I guess I looked a little rough in my "civies", but being a woman....I guess I just kept hopin' somebody would help me. I finally figgered out that I better do somethin', and I had watched my boss (who I had to call once for help on the way to work) change my tire. Lord....the little skinny rod thingy he used to crank the car up on the jack....if I hadn't been paying attention, I never would have DREAMED it was used for anything! Ain't I a mess?

Hey to all!

Nope, not yet, #1009! It's gonna be a little harder for them to penetrate this fortress. The only new critter I have is an adorable almost-four-month-old kitten that I got when he was only four days old! A neighbor kid came in with two kittens that he'd stolen from their mama. I was pretty disgusted to say the least, but I was fortunate to able to save one of them since the mama had disappeared. He's all grey, and already weighs six and a half pounds! I named him Jimmy (what else?) and he's the most spoiled rotten thing you can imagine. I regret that he was the only one I could save, but at least Jimmy won't be responsible for any stray kittens; he just got neutered! I'll post a pic of him one of these days when I get my new website put together. Now ain't you sorry you got me talking about critters?? LOL! Sorry to take on so... Cool song, Junior! Hi folks. It's getting cold here in Mayberry. The sky is clear. My cat Sweetie is improving by leaps and bounds and I am so thankful. Yesterday while at the Bluebird Diner, that visiting minister, the Rev. Bereen, ran into my car. Well, Barney came and wrote up the accident. Aunt Bee and I were inside the Diner when it happened and when I went to open the car door, it wouldn't open, so I took it by Wally's and Gomer pried out the metal against it and except now for my broken mirror (7 years of bad luck?...for me or the guy who broke it?) and it don't look too bad. After Barney wrote up the report, he went in and made a date with Juanita. I wonder if Thelma Lou knows about this? But all and all "it was a real fun day". Hope today is NOT THAT MUCH fun! I'm sorry about our woods too Moonbeam. I just hope they don't dig back into the back of our lot. I've always loved the peace and solitude of the woods behind our house. I can hear the equipment from my house. Bless the poor misplaced animals hearts. Thanks for your kind thoughts about Sweetie. They sure help. Miss Ellie

of course, their not speakin' worked out fine as far as bein' funny an' all, was it written that way because of the difference in wages for speaking vs. non-speaking parts (once an actor speaks a certain amount of words they become unionized an' th' pay rate changes dramatically), or was there a union conflict because The Dillards must've been in the Musicians' Union, or kinda both because they'd have to pay Musicians a lot of money to be speaking actors, too...? or mebbe they jes' couldn't act an' it was best to skip givin' 'em lines atall...?
I heartell both Andy an' Danny Thomas was pretty frugal, ta say th' least... wonderin' if this was about budget or talent or what..

I'm so happy I could just squeal! LOL! I went to see Greg last night, and just as I walked in his sister said I couldn't have come at a better time, because he was asking for me. I can't believe I'm getting my friend back. What a beautiful holiday blessing. Thank you all so very much for your support and prayers. A miracle came of it. God bless you wonderful folks! I'm elated. ~De§~

By the way, I talked to one of Greg's family members a couple of hours ago and learned that he's already talking more, and with less effort. Imagine getting prepared to lose a loved one, then having him handed back to you. I can't describe how elated and relieved I'm feeling right now. I just hope and pray that his progress continues and he has no complications. ~De§~

Des, how wonderful for Greg!! I can personally vouch for the power of prayer, as I told Miss Ellie in an email, I was pronounced 99% dead, in a coma for nine days, and the family came from all over, thinking this was the end, but on Easter Sunday, four years ago, I woke up wondering what all the fuss was about! Makes you appreciate the smallest blessings in life, and have less time for trivialities! (no offense!) Romeena! Thanks so much fer lettin' me know 'bout that there movie! Glory, Hallelujah! Praise God for answering prayer. ~De§~, I'm so happy for you, and Greg! God is so Good!

Hey, Leon! In the episode The Darlings Are Coming it was Aunt Bee's good home cooking that got the boys to speak. After one of her meals, Mitch can be heard to say, "About to pop," while talkative Doug remarked, "Great beans, Aunt Bee." And as Aunt Bee left the courthouse they all chimed in unison, "Good night, Aunt Bee." Other than singing, the boys are never again heard to speak. I've read somewhere that the reason the boys never spoke, other than the time stated above, is because they couldn't act. Hope that answers your question.

Miss Ellie, why aren't you using a font color anymore? Don't you quit, too! You know what they say about dropouts.

NRNMG, I like that font color of yours! You should post more often if you get the chance.

I haven't seen Rafe in awhile. Anyone know what he's up to?

Howdy to Romeena, Moonbeam McSwine, TOM, MissPeggy, ollie, Bulbsnatcher, and everyone that posts at Trivialities, and the Non-Signers.

Howdy folks.

Des, that is great news for you, Greg and his whole family. What a wonderful Thanksgiving blessing. I'll keep praying.

Moonbeam, you came out of your coma on Easter Sunday, after being declared 99% dead, like the resurrection in a sense. Miracles do continue to happen.

Opie, I haven't quit my color fonting. It has kind of been a black and white week.

Everyone have a great day now. Miss Ellie

Thank you all SO MUCH for your prayers and kind words of support. I sure am blessed to know such a great group of folks. Hope you're all having a great weekend. It's cold and rainy here, but I don't care! Like Miss Celie said in "The Color Purple", "I'm here!" LOL! I'll update you on Greg as soon as I have more news. ~De§~

In watching the Gomerathon on TV Land this weekend, there were so many people that lived in Mayberry depicting different characters in California. Miz Lesch, Romeena(twice), Daphne, Mr. Masters, Charlene, and Clara Edwards to name a few. Shouldn't Gomer have recognized some of these imposters from growing up in Mayberry?

Well, Opie Taylor.....with those very kind and sweet words of encouragement, I have decided to try some color again! You are a real dear!

De§...I have not been on Trivialities here lately because of my schedule, but my heart just sank when I read about your friend Greg. I continued reading, and tears actually came to my eyes when I read the absolutely wonderful, joyous news of his condition now! Along with all the other beautiful people here in our own Mayberry, I celebrate with you as you yourself also recover from such a devastating experience. It really DOES make you stop and realize just how incredible life is, and also how very fragile. We all take it for granted and I guess every once in awhile, we have to be reminded that life is a gift, not a privilege. I am reminded myself whenever I talk with my precious Mom, after all she went through a couple of years ago. I truly thank God....He stayed with us every step of the way...I have NO DOUBT!

By the way, De§...I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of that adorable little four-month-old bundle of fur! I bet that baby is just PRECIOUS!

Opie...thanks, again for giving me courage to try coloring my world again! Romeena....hug that sweet puppy of yours for me! Miss Ellie...I'm glad Sweetie is back to her darling self.

Tom....my prayers go out to you, your friend Mike, and his wife. Please keep us posted on how things are going, friend.

Hey to Moonbeam McSwine, Rafe, Elinora, NRNMG, ollie, Miss Peggy, Briscoe Darling Jr., The Rock, Flora, Pinkcloud, Leon, Merle Dean, and everybody else my poor brain couldn't think of right now. Gosh....you folks just really make my day sometimes! I hope I can always find a little spot here and have a bottle of pop with all of you...you are such a joy!

OH! I know this is a TERRIBLY long post, but I just HAVE to tell all of you one thing....I'm so tickled! I have started a chapter of TAGSRWC here in the little town I live in....near Nashville. I got my official charter the other day, and I've already framed it! BIG SMILE! The name of my chapter is "Try To Curb Them Hot Flashes". Hahahahaha....I hope one day to have a little web site if I can figure out how to do it, and also if I can get some time!

Sorry my post was so long, and thanks for your patience!

I went to Miss Crump's Font Colors Help, and I took bits and pieces of my post over to that practice area...to try and make sure I did everything right! It was time-consuming, but I was "color shy". Hehehehe.

Has anybody heard from Emma lately? I wish she'd drop by!

Goodmorning friends. I received some sad news this morning. An elderly friend, age 88, Eleanor passed away Friday. She had Alzheimers and about a year ago had a mastectomy, recently a broke hip and dehydration. I cannot grieve because she is with Jesus and not suffering anymore, but am sad. I'm sad it has been a long time since I've seen her. Please keep her loved ones and friends in your prayers during our time of loss.

Hey Charlotte. Would love to see a picture of the baby. I know she is adorable.

Bulbsnatcher, you are something else.

Bulbsnatcher, you are an encouragement to me! I really appreciate your very kind and thoughtful words! I use that practice area too, it really helps! Thank you again for your thoughtfulness!

Miss Ellie, we got some snow in my part of NC too! I haven't been crazy about that white stuff ever since I broke my leg about four or five years ago in a sledding accident. I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your friend. I will pray for the family as they go though this difficult time. Losing a loved one is always difficult no matter what their age. But it's comforting to know that she is in a better place and that her sufferings will be no more!

To Msg # 1072 if you want to use font color in your posts I'd be happy to tell you how! And if you don't that's fine too, some folks prefer b/w. Posting with different font colors is real simple, all you have to do is type in and your font color, when posted, will look like this! And to turn it off type and there you have it! If you want to practice first you can do that at this practice area. Good luck!

Hey to pinkcloud, Charlotte, Mr. Cookie Bar, NRNMG, and everyone else here at Trivialities. You all take care and keep warm.

Hey, y'all! It's so nice to see all the posts from you wonderful folks. Sure is a supportive bunch of friends here... Thank you for all the kind words of encouragement. I saw Greg today. Turns out he DID have a stroke after all, but the prognosis is still very good, and he's looking better than he has in ages, and is doing better. I'm so glad. He might need some physical therapy, but he should make a complete recovery. He's up and walking around, talking better, and does have partial use of his right side. I'm very optimistic, and so is everyone else. Please keep him in your prayers, though. That is helping so much. So... what's on everyone's Thanksgiving feast menu? ~De§~

yo to everybody!

i was thinking of making a rib roast, but i think verleen wants a turkey..... so i'm thinking, i'll get a small-medium turkey (there's only the three of us, counting robert), loosely stuff it with red onions, thyme rosemary garlic salt and pepper and a half of a lemon. rub it with olive oil black pepper and salt. then about an hour before it's done, start glazing it with a lemon juice/ brown sugar mixture (that has been simmered a little to blend it). then on the side, serve some regular roasted garlic mashed potatoes and gravy (plenty of bay leaves and wine) from the gibblets, a little bacon/ greenbeans (onions, garlic, some chicken stock--reduce it then put that mixture in a pot with the beans and simmer them in some water-salt-and-pepper- for a long time), with some roasted corn, some nice bread and then an apple crisp and ice cream. that's the plan anyway.
