In Loving Memory of Andy Griffith
June 1st 1926 – July 3rd 2012
First to hear Andy on the turn table at the time
Could Master a one-liner on a dime!
“What it was…Was Football” we all laughed at him saying
Yet making us roll over describing the referee in stripes As a convict in prison while the team was playing
It seemed in the motion picture it was all aloud
In his roll in “A Face In The Crowd”
Finding peace within the humor he would find
The very place that his life would shine
We all knew him best as the Sherriff with no gun
Raising a little lad named Opie as his son
Taking care of sweet Aunt Bee
The good hearted person we all would like to be
Through it all in a town of little strife
It was all about his side kick Deputy Barney Fife
The show gave us all a sense of belonging
Leaving us weekly wanting & longing
Till the next episode
Just waiting for Barney to implode
With a shaky gun & a finger on the trigger
Catching a crook or even hope a killer
It was in this vain that we all admired
Truly having but one desire
As to be a part of such a simple life it seemed
It was Andy that really made the scene
On to Matlock we would find
Andy Griffith of a different kind
Chasing the clues of every case
Even when older could keep up the pace
Giving us still then laughter & a tear
Because in his character we held so dear
It made it hard to see him with a bounty
In the acclaimed movie Murder In Coweta County
Looking past the character we all did see
That Andy was the man we wished to be
Soft spoken they say in so many ways
Yet bound & determined to lead the way
As an Actor Producer Director Comedian Singer all he could be That brought all the emotions we shared & never could see
That his life would touch us beyond compare
As if everyday we all were there
His passing will leave us with memories to share
& from Andy none will compare
So rest our friend with this one thing you know
Your legacy lives on in each one of us down here below
Here’s to Andy with all the APPLAUSE!
We raise our glasses to the CAUSE!To his beloved family we leave you with our support & prayers for comfort of your great loss!
