I've always wondered who played bass on the original Matlock theme song. As I recall, the theme song changed in later years. The bass sound was not as pronounced in the later version. The original had a very distinctive sound, very "fat" if that means anything. I understand some hip hop producers have even sampled the sound. I imagine the bass was played by some session player from LA but still curious.
Any takers? I've already looked around elsewhere for the answer.
