BOO--good to hear from you. I continue to pray for you and yours.
Another good verse for you,"The Lord does not give me a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and self-control." Stand on the Word just as Jesus did in the desert
to resist the devil. "God's word does not return void."
I used to watch the Loretta Young show when growing up. She would always make a 'grand entrance,' and then
tell about the upcoming show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAd5UV-Zjg4
GF, Spot, and ASA, ah yes, I can still smell the nitro,... talk about some powerful

RO--I sure hope you can find out something at the vet today. I'll say a little

ASA--I read that at one time there were 25 westerns showing on TV...The biggies like Gunsmoke, but also Have Gun, Will Travel, Rawhide, Maverick and the like.

Good morning all.
MDC, So nice to wake up to a clean porch. Well done you! Nothing like a good western to take you away from todays world.
I found this short clip of reporter Jill Sinclair, sitting in an old style front end top fueler. They have it started up with gasoline, but at around the 45 second mark, switch over to nitro. Her reaction is priceless. One of the better clips I have seen that demonstrates the power of a top fueler. https://youtu.be/c6RDbDZeHM4
Boo, Glad you are having some better days, but sorry that Bruce is struggling. I can understand it though. My continued prayers for your family.
Romeena, Prayers for Toye Starr that the Vet can find and cure her ailment this morning. And for you as well. Is Hudson still on the mend?
GF, I took my tire in to get repaired. They tried a different type of plug in it and it seems to be holding. I thanked them and reached for my wallet, and the feller said "don't worry about it, just come see us when you need new tires". You bet I will. Can't beat service like that.
Supposed to rain this afternoon, so if I plan on getting any yard work done I better get my rear end out of this Wheeler.
Prayers for all.

I saw Mayor Stoner in Bonanza yesterday giving Sheriff Roy Coffee the what for. He sure had it in for Sheriffs for some reason but Roy sure showed him who was the Boss!
Nice video Asa, That fire breathing dragon sure sounded like it wanted to be released didn’t it?
Glad you got your tire fixed, My Dad had the same policy most of the time, I can’t count the number of tires I fixed for “No Charge” over the years. And Yes, they DID come back when they needed new ones...Yet ANOTHER Dad lesson on how to do business!...

Thanks Asa and MDC. Interestingly, MDC, that very verse is one that I have been thinking on this week. I remembered a time when I was 19 and I was suffering terribly with anxiety and a pastor friend told me to memorize and repeat that verse to myself when I felt afraid and it really, really helped. Thanks for mentioning it.
Since I am working less this week I have been drawing closer to the Lord and spending time thinking on spiritual things. I still have so many unanswered questions but I have some answers to the really important things. :) I just keep pressing on, day by day. I guess it is kind of hard for folks who haven't struggled with anxiety and depression to understand what it is really like. I remember when I was 16 and was born again. The wonderful love and joy I experienced then, just because I woke up to the truth that Jesus was alive and knew me. That joy! I want that back. The kind of fellowship I had with him then was so unique to that time. That first year it was so amazing and then when I started going to a Pentecostal, fundamentalist church, I gained some wonderful things about understanding the power and presence of God but unnfortunately, I also learned to really fear him..and not in a good way and I learned legalism. It damaged me and my understanding of the character of God. I still struggle with it to this day but am hoping that some day I will be healed from it. You all have helped me in so many ways. Thank you for that.
Asa, Romeena's daughter in law posted a video on Facebook last night of Hudson playing the piano and I had to brush a tear away. He is doing much better. Still a little weak but you should have heard him playing that piano! He is really good!
Thank God he is getting well.
Happy Anniversary, by the way, Asa. 41 years! That is quite an accomplishment and my hat is off to you. Bruce and I have been together for 30 years (married for 25) next month. Sometimes it seems like we have been together forever (in a good way). He is my family as much as anyone is and I cant even imagine divorcing him. Sometimes I want to kick his b*tt but not very often. Heehee I guess that's just marriage. Are you doing anything special for your anniversary?
Today is Sean's birthday and he turns 24. We are taking him out to a nice steakhouse for dinner later. I bought him a new set of percale sheets for his bed because he loves new sheets (weird, but true), washed them and put them on his bed and he will love that after a days work and a good dinner. By the way, that job is a real god-send for Sean. The mechanic he works for is such a nice man and a good boss and Sean says he likes his work there and certainly loves the money he spends on gas since it is practically up the road from us. A funny note: I think I mentioned that his boss has a very nice wife who is sometimes at the shop to bring the checks, etc. Well, there is one little bathroom that all the employees use and Sean had to use it the other day. When he opened the door, though, there sat the boss's wife on the john with her cell phone in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. She had neglected to lock the door and poor Sean opened it. He jumped back, apologizing profusely and was so embarrassed. The woman handled it very well and came and apologized to Sean, saying it was her fault. All the boss said was, just knock because she does that sometimes. lol I get the feeling she drinks a lot of wine. ;)
Thanks again for your prayers, the physical problem I mention earlier has been getting better the last couple of days but I am not counting my chickens before they are hatched because this has happened before only to flare up again. I hate being so mysterious so I will just tell you what is wrong with me. A couple of months ago I started having symptoms of a urinary tract infection and I thought it had gone away, but returned so I had a urine culture done, came back showing Strep B, so was treated with Ampicillin. Symptoms got a bit better but then came back with a vengeance. I am waiting on the results of the second culture but I suspect I may have a condition called Interstitial Cystitis. I had it for several months years ago and it just went away. It can be pretty miserable, but there really isn't a cure, you just have to be careful about what you eat and drink to prevent flare-ups. As far as the strep B, I am pretty sure you cant be postitive for it without symptoms...kind of like a person can be "colonized" to staph and easily get infections but not have them all the time. Hard to explain but you can look it up if you are interested (or not).
Well, better get something done around here before I have to get ready to go.
Hope little Toye Starr gets a good report from Dr. Mike today. My little Poopsie is running around like a little rocket, tearing up things.
Bye,

Do you have those there? Also, are you still on the statins? That can affect your kidneys and liver.
So sorry that those various denominations affected you so adversely. I just tell folks to

Thank you for all the sentiments expressed for our anniversary. We were gonna go out to a fancy restaurant but Debbie wasn't feeling very good so we just stayed home and spent some quiet time together. The cake came out really good. As bad a cook as I am, I seem to do pretty good with baking for some reason. But then again, I don't do anything to exotic.
MDC, I know Jill was smelling the nitro the way she was wiping her eyes. That stuff makes you cry, don't it.
Boo, I hope you can get your condition under control. With everything else you have going on, health issues isn't what you need. I hope Sean had a nice birthday. It's good to read his job is going so well. Poor feller, seeing the boss's wife like that. I hope he wasn't traumatized or nothing. Sometimes something like that can leave deep scars. lol I do love how you are able to still find humor in things Boo, in spite of all the troubles y'all are dealing with.
Romeena, I hope Toye Starr's visit to the Vet yesterday went well.
I was reading through some of the archives yesterday and really enjoying those. If you have time, go to 2011 around the end of March and early April. We all were writing our own TAGS episode. Oh my, some funny stuff. Vivid imaginations for sure. In one post Boo has Andy falling asleep with the thought of Caroline's beautiful eyes in his mind, and I wake him up with the glaring anger filled eyes of Helen Crump. lol Boo all but had Helen killed off on her next installment. Good afternoon, porch. Just finished a little story, sending it to Charlotte Tucker for her magazine. I have such fun writing those little stories, and really do appreciate the fact that Charlotte gives me an outlet for my scribbles.
My back yard is full of robins today. The pretty little things are just hopping all over the place. I've got the big rotors running, watering the newly-planted grass plugs, and they don't seem to mind the water at all. In fact, they follow the spray! The water, like rain, brings the earthworms up to the surface, and the robins know that. Now and then I see them stop and pull some hapless worm out of the ground, and take off with it into the shrubbery. I'm sure there are several nests in there. Such fun! Not much fun for the worm, I suppose, but such is life.
Hudson is all well and back to normal, back in school, and playing his bassoon and the piano. Thank you all for the prayers on his behalf.
Dr. Mike thinks Toye Starr may be having little seizures, and has ordered some phenobarbital for her. Because of the tiny dosage, it has to be made up at a compounding pharmacy, will take about three days before they'll have it ready, then they'll send it to the pharmacy I use here in town. Meantime, she had another wreck-up this morning, and instead of rushing to pick her up, I just talked to her, and she calmed down, responded to me, stopped screaming and sat up. In a minute, she got up and trotted away. Dr. Mike says dogs often do not experience the post-ictal phase of a seizure (the dull, out-of-it period) that humans do, but still, her behavior just didn't look like a seizure to me. I think something is hurting her, and when she falls over and lays there for a minute, it releases and she's okay. It could be a spinal thing, or it could actually be that knee, like Dr. Mike suspected in the first place. Mercy, I wish she could talk!
Well, better get busy. The Bunco Babes are coming Friday night, and I have to tidy up, and bake some shortbread to serve with ice cream and peaches. Tomorrow morning I have to buy groceries to make the meal, Toye Starr's groomer will be here around 3, a cleaning lady is coming at 1 pm to vacuum the carpets and mop the kitchen and sunroom, and my grandson and his wife will be here around 6 to stay until Saturday. Together, we'll make up the casseroles I'm going to serve, and have them ready to bake on Friday just before serving. I have to get my hair cut at noon on Friday, on top of everything else. Fortunately, Gary and Elaine are very adjustable, eager to help out, and the easiest houseguests in the world. It's going to be a wild week/weekend, but it will be a lot of fun!
Asa, about the casserole - it's going to be my version of chicken tetrazzini, and it's so easy. What makes it so easy is - I buy the roasted chickens from the deli at my Kroger grocery store! They're about $6, they're delicious, and I just pull the meat off the bones, rough-chop it up, and it's ready. Juicy and flavorful, perfect in a casserole. I put some butter in a skillet, and sautè some rough-chopped onion, some diced celery, some carrot straws that I've chopped through a few times so they aren't so long, and maybe some frozen peas. Then I boil and drain some noodles or spaghetti (either one works), and dump it all in a huge bowl, with the chicken and about two cups of shredded cheddar. Stir in a can or two of cream of chicken soup, a big dollop or two of sour cream, and a few dashes of Tabasco. All of this is adjustable according to your own taste, and keep in mind, what I'm making is going to feed 14 people, with one small casserole left behind for me to eat later. You will want to adjust the amounts accordingly. One chicken will be quite enough! Anyway, before everyone arrives, I'll put the casseroles in the microwave for about ten minutes, to get them heated through, then pop them in the oven to finish, with more cheese melting on top. If your microwave won't hold a big casserole dish, then just plan on a longer baking time to get them baked through in the center. Remember, the key to good cooking is to be imaginative and adventurous. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
Well, off I go. The butter for my shortbread is still in the fridge, so had better get it out to soften! Blessings, friends. --Romeena

Yep, In Mayberry there were a lot of possibilities for new and flash in the pan characters. How about “Freeberger” the sewer inspector? Somebody has to keep Mayberry free flowing. What about trash pick-up? They don’t mention it other than when they went to the dump to find the missing newspapers.
And what about a fire department? They only mention the fire brigade when Jubal Fosters barn burned down. But I would liked for Billy Ray (Dub Taylor) to have had a more prominent roll, but that’s just Me!

How-do, porch. I've got a few minutes before Gary and Elaine get here, thought I'd "set and rock for a spell." Such goin's on, such goin's on!
Toye Starr is a puzzlement. I've discovered that when she has a "wreck-up" and is lying there crying, I don't have to pick her up. I can just talk to her, and she calms right down. This morning, she rolled onto her back, stretched both back legs out straight, then rolled onto her belly, got up, shook herself and trotted away. That leads me back to the floating kneecap idea. She stretches the leg, it pops back in place, and she's fine. Our Bentley had the same problem, and he learned to fix it the same way. Still, when the phenobarbital finally arrives, Dr. Mike said to go ahead and give it to her. If it stops the spells, then we'll know it's probably little seizures. If it doesn't, we'll know it's probably her knee. Anyway, she got groomed this afternoon, and she is drop-dead gaw-juss! Fresh pink ears, topknot and tail, and she's so proud. She looks like a little stuffed toy, and I love her so much.
MDC, you be careful, getting on the roof and all. I'll bet your doctor wouldn't have app0roved, but since you didn't hurt yourself, more power to you!
Boo, I continue to pray for you and your family. You're all dealing with some very heavy issues right now, and it just has to be so difficult. Just keep seeking God's strength and enlightenment through it all.
Well, I guess I'll go stir up a big bowl of tuna salad for sandwiches when the kids get here. I make a mean tuna salad, and I have some of Dave's "Killer" bread to spread it on, and some good crispy lettuce to perk the sandwich up.
By the way, has anyone else tried the new "fizzy waters" that are appearing in the stores? Bubly is one brand, Spindrift is another, St. Croix is another (been around a while) and they're all pretty good. Just carbonated water, no sweeteners, artificial or natural, and just flavored with a touch of natural fruit juice. Very refreshing, zero calories, and no nasty artificial sweetener taste, either. Great little thirst-quenchers!
Oh, Boo, I think great minds run in the same channels. I too use the butter/Ritz cracker topping on casseroles, especially the one I'm making for the girls tomorrow night. I just forgot to mention it. It's wonderful!
Prayers for you, Frankie, and God bless your brother for being there for you to lean on. Just think about how happy your mom is now, and free from pain.
Blessings, everyone. --Romeena

MDC, Yep, sounds like the truck needs some TLC. How many miles you got on it? I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty that is at 98,000 miles. I have considered trading it in on a new vee-hickle (in my best Luther Rizzo voice). But as little as I drive anymore, I'm not sure if that is needed. I also have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma pick up. It only has 50,000 miles on it. Yes, it's a garage queen. I have had a lot of buddies who would love to buy it. lol
So I went back and it looks like Caroline was created by Boo if I remember correct. And Romeena gave her the last name of Marsh, in honor of Millie who used to rock with us. It would be interesting to see how their new found relationship has gone, or if Helen Crump came back to town to lay claim on Andy. Unless Boo got her killed off. lol (Boo is not a Helen fan)
Romeena, thanks for the recipe. I do appreciate all the help you have given me over the years on cooking. You're a treasure. I sure hope Toye Starr gets better soon.
I just got back from the grocery store, so I am good for the week. I bought a couple of Cornish game hens to cook up. We usually do that a couple of times a year. Serve it with some wild rice and covered in an orange sauce with raisins in it. And then some broccoli with melted cheese. This is one time I don't mind my main dish being concealed in a heavy sauce! lol

Spent a good part of the day out in my shop and out in the garden. Got my mower all ready for the summer. Same with my tiller. Good times. :)

Well looking at the story again I see it was Boo who invented Caroline and gave her the last name of Marsh in honor of Millie.

Ha! I saw that,Asa- it looks like I got Helen out of town mighty fast in order to keep Boo from killing you! We will have to revive the story and bring Helen back somehow. We can call our new story " Helen's Revenge" or REVENG,as Barney would put it!
Oh, Happy belated Anniversary to you and the missus, Asa!

"Friends, we last saw Andy, Caroline, and Opie sitting on their humble porch, in the humble town
of Mayberry, in the humble state of North Carolina. It is now five year later, and we now see Andy, Caroline, Opie, Johnny, and their 4 year old daughter, Andicarolie strolling down humble Elm Street, in the humble town of Mayberry, and in the humble state of North Carolina." The narrator's voice fades out, and we pick up on their conversation... "Oh Andy, I'm so proud of you, I can't believe that you just got elected to another two year term as sheriff of Mayberry County." "Well honey, Mayberry has been very, very good to me. I can remember a time when an old classmate named Sharon Despain...you see, you see, she wanted me to run off with her to the big city; but I just couldn't do it. My heart has always been here. Our young men are about to graduate from Mayberry Union High, and our daughter is growin' like a weed in springtime." Any takers...? (Is Aunt Bee still around? Any new characters?)
HI ALL, i hope you are having a good day.
ASA--you mentioned about not sleeping well...well, here is a sure-fire way to dose off...start praying! ha Really, every time I am laying in bed trying to get to sleep, if I start praying like, "Oh Lord I surrender my life to you, and I ask you to please hear my petitions for...z-z-z-z-z!"
Well, maybe it doesnt happen that fast, but almost! ha Why does it do that?
RO, I hope your fun Friday evening went well. Hope you werent too bushed to play the game!
BTW, have you heard any more about Barbara. My prayers continue for her and John.
I've got to tell you all something funny. Sometimes I buy a workshirt or two or at Goodwill. They are cheap,
and I dont mind it getting dirty, paint on it, etc. Well, the total at the register was $5.99.
The cashier, bless her heart, asked me, "Would you like to round up to the dollar as a donation.
Well, I "hesitated", saying "I don't know, that's a whole penny." Well, she started laughing
out loud! I just love little situations like that where I can make people laugh a bit.
I guess that's what its all about in a way.
BOO--how goes things at the rehab? Any word from the new owners yet? hope you are getting paid.
Good to see Possum and other porch sitters. BIG Maude, do you ever get to Pigeon Forge anymore?
Racing a Bristol soon.

Good morning all.
MDC, I had me a sip of elixir for every well you used above, and I am feeling a-ok buddy! hiccup Just poking at you. Ha, I loved your story with the cashier. I hope you got e receipt for tax purposes. lol
Now, back to our story.
Caroline: "Andy, can I ask you a question"?
Andy: Why sure Caroline, what's on your mind"?
Caroline: "Yesterday I got a letter in the mail addressed to Mrs. Andy Taylor. So I opened it and read it. It was from a Mr. Henry Wheeler. He wrote about a few years ago that he and your Aunt Bee were seeing a lot of each other, but that you seemed upset at the thought of it, and kind of threatened him. What was that all about? It doesn't sound like you a-tall".
Andy: Well I'll tell you Caroline, I did some checking up on Mr. Wheelers past, and discovered he was a lazy shiftless feller who just used women to get some free meals and shelter. But the minute things started getting too serious, he high tailed it out of town. I was concerned he was gonna use Aunt Bee the same way, and, well, I just couldn't let that happen. You understand that, don't you"?
Caroline: " Well of course I do Andy. But"..
Andy: "What's he doing writing you anyway"?
Caroline: "Well he said he had always had real feelings for Aunt Bee, but you had scared him off. Then he had heard you had gotten married and thought maybe now he could resume courting your Aunt Bee. He seems like a nice fellow to me Andy. Said in his letter he's been working at some hotel for quite a few years and is looking to settle down in Mayberry".
Andy: "Well now I'm not sure Caroline. Aunt Bee is still hurting after her torrid fling with that Hanover character. She hasn't had the best of luck with men you know. Wheeler, Hanover, Hendricks, some visiting Preacher, an Author, Fred Goss. I mean she goes through men like Barney goes through bullets. I'd love for her to find a nice feller and get married, but Wheeler? I just don't know Caroline".

Well, YAHOO, Asa started a ep! I wish I had time to add on but have to get ready for work at Shoreline. :( I will work something up later.
Asa, in the original story, I mention that Caroline was a widowed preacher's wife from Silar City. I am so happy to married her to Andy!
MDC, Shoreline is still in limbo and nobody is talking. I will share more of the mayhem later.
Gotta run!

Caroline: Well Andy, people DO change you know.
I think it would be good for Aunt Bee to see Mr. Wheeler. She's no spring chicken ya know.
Andy (grinnin' from ear to ear) Yep, our dear old doc Andrews would agree with ya there.
Well, let's show her the letter and see what she thinks!
The five "strollers" turn in at Andy and Caroline's house, and as they pass the mailbox,
Andy notices the name on it... "Mr and Mrs Andrew Taylor." He smiles as he thinks about Floyd's remark
of years ago when Miss Peggy and he were seeing each other. Of course, she ran off with that hungry buzzard, DON! Suddenly his thoughts are interrupted by Aunt Bee yelling out from the doorway..."Did you five have a nice walk? It's such a lovely evening."
Caroline: Yes, Aunt Bee, it WAS nice. Andicarolie got a little tired, but Andy carried her for a bit.
Those 4 year old legs are hard to keep up with us sometimes. Oh, I have something for you.... NEXT?
I hope ya all had a good Saturday. My truck is out of the shop, but I may have to check the driveshaft
for out of true, as I am still getting a bit of a shake.
Good Sabbath. Going to do prison ministry again. God bless.
Prayers,

"Something for ME?", asked Aunt Bee, hurriedly wiping her hands on her apron. "What is it,dear?"
Caroline smiled as she handed the envelope to Aunt Bee. "See for yourself,Aunt Bee. I think someone is still sweet on you after all of these years!" Caroline gave a quick wink and left Aunt Bee alone in the kitchen with the letter.
Aunt Bee unfolded the letter and started to read. "Well, land sakes! I never would have expected THIS! Mr.Wheeler! Heavens, I don't know what to think, what to do! Ooh, I have to call Clara and tell her!"
Aunt Bee grabbed the receiver from the phone and breathlessly summoned Sarah. "Sarah?? It's Bee. Sarah, get me Clara Edwards on the line. I have something I cannot wait to share with her! Thank you,Sarah. Oh, where are my manners? How have you been,Sarah? I see... well, soak it,Sarah. Hello, Clara?! "

Aunt Bee is just beside herself at this point. "That Clara! She thinks the world revolves around her and those infernal pickles! She needs to get a life! And how rude of her to not let me get a word in edgewise- ugh!"
Aunt Bee sits and stews for a minute over Clara, wishing there was some way she could knock her off of her high horse. " Clara Edwards needs to be taken down a peg or two. 88 blue ribbons! The old braggart! Well, she won't win a ribbon THIS year,if I have anything to do with it!"
Aunt Bee suddenly gets an idea of how she can kill two birds with one stone. Speaking out loud she says, " Hmm.. I think I WOULD like to see Mr. Wheeler again, but I don't want to seem too forward. I can't call him and just come right out and tell him, though. No,a lady must play hard to get. But.. what if I call him and tell him we have aphids on our roses again and ask him to come by and spray the bushes?"
Aunt Bee gazes off and cracks an evil smile- " And I will make sure to get my hands on some of that pesticide! Then ,Clara BEWARE! BAHAHAHA!! "

Aunt Bee: Its a good thing there are 3 county fairs a year to enter pickle making contests or Clara would never have those 88 ribbons!
There's the one in Mt. Pilot, the one in Hillsdale, and one right here in Mayberry.
Well, now about Mr. Wheeler. Oh dear, what should I do?
OK, I'm going to call. His number is here in his letter 4567
in Cyler City.
"Hello Sara, could you please get me 4567 in Cyler City?"
"Yes Miss Bee, it's ringing..." OK, TAKE IT :)
