Hello Porchsters,
Wanted to drop in again and let you know I was still around. I apologize for being gone so long as I know I have disappeared many times in the past. Hopefully, you wont hold that against me. I have reasons and I have kept them to myself because I didnt want to step on anyone's toes who is dealing with much worse things than I am. I am trying my utmost to grab a rocking chair, pour some tea and set a spell, but it has been slow goin'.
Hope all of you are doing well and I do miss stopping in. Take care, all! My best to each and every one!

Hey, John Masters. Good to see you - and don't worry ab out your occasional absences. We miss you, but we understand. You gotta do what you gotta do.
Lucy, I have to be at the church at 6:30 in the morning. The bus leaves at 7:30, but they ask us to be there an hour early. Most people will be there, but there will be at least two who will slide in at the last minute, and I know who they will be. It's always the same two people. Anybody can be late once in a while - it happens - but every single time? There are no mitigating circumstances, either. It's just a habit.
Ha! I remember one trip years ago when I overslept and knew I could never make the bus on time. I knew where we were going, and knew the bus would be going right past the Sonic which is on the access road to Loop 12, just about a block from my house. So I called our missions pastor, who is in charge, and asked to speak to the bus driver. Dennis got on the phone, and I asked him if he knew where that Sonic is, and he did, so I asked him if he could plan to stop there, just pull over to the side of the road, and I'd be waiting. I was all packed and ready, just pulled some clothes on, dragged my suitcase up to the Sonic, and climbed aboard when he drove up. Nobody had to wait! I was lucky I live where I do. Otherwise, I just wouldn't have gone on the trip. It was just a day trip, but still, nobody likes to wait on tardy people, especially the perpetually late.
I'm about ready. Got the sprinkler timer set so things don't die while I'm gone, tied up that gladiola so it won't get broken, laundry is all done, and my hair is washed. I had thought I'd have to take Toye Starr out to David and Brittney's house, but Dave said he's coming to Irving tomorrow morning. I'll just leave her in the bedroom, she's used to that, and he'll pick her up and take her home with him. She'll be in good hands, will be spoiled rotten when I get her back.
Well, gotta go stick some clothes in a suitcase, and I'm all set. Oh, and water all my orchids in the sunroom. They're in full bloom, so pretty. I never dreamed I could grow orchids, but with all those south-facing windows, I think I could grow just about anything in there. They love it!
I'll try to check in along the way. You all play nice, and act like somebody now, you hear? Blessings! --Romeena

Hope Romeena is having a good time. I had a really good weekend away. The facility Bruce's mom is in is just great and she loves it.To both of us, she seemed better than when she lived down here. Her mind was much clearer, which I assume is because someone else in controlling her medication, and her shaking is getting better. I am really glad we went because now Bruce is more relaxed about her being there. The little town she is in was nice, too, and we stayed in a nice little motel. Those of you who are on Facebook saw the pics I posted of our trip to the old drive-in movie. It was a blast!
We took the scenic drive home and it was just beautiful..lovely wildflowers and pastoral scenes with cows grazing in green meadows...so many trees, too. All in all, it was a terrific weekend. Hope you all had good ones, too.
Well, I am pretty tired from all the driving so guess I will kick back and take a rest. Good evening to all!

Saw your post about your trip to the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum, Ro, and I had to comment. Mostly because we were just there last month. The wife was bound and determined to spend our refund money(the word "save" is a four letter word in our house, apparently), and wanted to go somewhere big. So the choice was between The Creation Museum and the Ark in Kentucky, or Niagara Falls in New York. My pick was neither because I wanted to have enough money to be able to pay the mortgage and other bills for a while without having to worry too much about it, but that wasn't going to work and I knew it when I am married to spendy-mcspender.
So seeing as how I didn't really want to go look at a waterfall(granted a big one), I chose the Creation/Ark. I had always wanted to see it, and I thought it might be good for the family.
I will tell you more about the trip down to Kentucky later, which was an adventure in itself, but I have to get ready for bed for now.
Anyway, I am sure Romeena will love it, and it is very well worth making the trip to see it. The Ark, as you can imagine, is massive and is a sight to see. While walking over to it, I joked to Kai sarcastically, "Nope, no way you could fit a dinosaur in that." in answer to all the atheistic critics who really think it was "impossible".
I still have to put some of the pics on Twitter or something, but will try to do that soon.
Glad you had a good weekend, Boo.

Happy belated Birthday Maudie. They seem to roll around with greater frequency anymore, don't they?
MDC, I am still praying your test results all come back good buddy. There is a woman in our Church who went in yesterday for a knee replacement. I went and visited her Sunday night for a bit. She seemed in good spirits so I didn't mention all you have gone through.
Hey to Sterling and John Masters.
GF, I am firing up sprinkling systems this week. Wish me luck. The one system that I had all the problems with a couple of years ago has calmed right down since I installed the pressure regulator on it. Glad I did that. Has saved me a lot of work I think.
Well off to it.

Big Maude- Did Miss Barbara Eden do your manicure and pedicure?
Boo- That sounds promising about Bruce's mother! She looked happy in the photos you posted on Facebook.
Sterling- We went to the museum portion not long after it opened but have not seen the Ark. I'd love to see it. It's only about 2 hours or so from my parents house but honestly our time is so limited up there that I just want to see family.
Hey to G-F and anyone I missed. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Hey to Lucy. Yes, Bruce's mom seems pretty happy. She misses her old friends and church, of course, but hopefully she will make new friends. She seems to like her roommate, but unfortunately the woman is beginning hospice this week and is not expected to live long. She is 90 years old, though, so who knows. It's gonna be a hot day here in Atlanta! It seems like 90 just came outta nowhere. I chose to live in the South so I shouldn't complain, HOWEVER, my electric bill triples in the summer! We bought some super duper fans at Sam's Club so hopefully that will help with the AC this year. I love having my windows open. I know what you mean, Lucy. We seldom have our windows open due to the high humidity right here on the coast (I am about a block from the gulf of Mexico, literally). Even in the cooler months, when the humidity is up it is just gross. I am looking forward to moving after Bruce retires. I have had it with this 90%+ humidity nearly every day of the year. Last weekend we were 5 hours north of here and it was so much nicer. It gets really hot in the summer in central and north texas but the lower humidity makes it much nicer in the evenings/nights.
Praying all goes well on Monday, MDC. It's true we are no spring chickens, but neither are we washed up..you are still fairly young and I'm sure things will work themselves out. Patience and faith. :)
Well, I am working this evening for a friend who has relatives in town. I will be on a work stretch through the weekend and on Monday, so you may not hear from me for a few days.

LUCY and all: Our AC unit has two cycles on the compressor; so when
it's not too hot out it works as a 2 ton unit, but in the extreme heat of July and August, it works as a 4 ton unit. Also, we have an "equal payment plan" where, based on our past usage history, we pay a fixed amt each month, and then once a year, pay a little more or less depending
how things came out.

The bad news is there are a bunch (and I mean a bunch) of broken and/or displaced heads that need attention. So that has been what I am working on. Bought over $400.00 just on parts yesterday. Also one of our Electrical Supply houses had a tool day yesterday. Went and got fed and looked at all the newest in tools and supplies. I even bought a couple of items I have been needing. I am going to miss the tool allowance I get after I retire. But on the other hand I surely won't need all the tools I have either. Did you keep all your tools or did you sell things when you retired?
Prayers for good test results GF.
Good to see you Boo and lucy, and Happy Mothers Day to you and all of out Porch Moms on Sunday. Always a bit of a bitter sweet day for me. GF, A big AMEN Brother. I have numerous jars full of hardware that are invaluable. We do think alike. But our discussion is hitting close to home. One of my vices is a love for tools. Over the years I have accumulated more tools than any 10 men should have. It doesn't help that my work gives me a yearly tool allowance. That "free money" has allowed me to build up my inventory of Bosch power tools. And I have more hand tools than you can imagine. I really do need to downsize I reckon, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Maybe I should join a group. You reckon they have any groups for tool hoarders? Dirty dirty me! :)

Good afternoon, porch! I'm baaa-ack! Actually, I've been home since Saturday evening, but my computer wasn't working until today. It didn't matter, because I came home sick, probably pneumonia. Horrible cough! One of those coughs that "diesels." Do you know what I mean? You crank it up and cough, and then the coughs just keep coming, without your help. You can't stop them, like an old car that won't stop when you turn the ignition off. I haven't seen a doctor, been too sick to go! I finally called one this morning, and he's sending me some antibiotics. My pharmacy delivers, so it should be here soon. Actually, I already feel a little better today than I did yesterday, but Sunday, I was a sick pup. Even missed my grandson playing with the Ft. Worth Youth Philharmonic, at Bass Hall. Sure hated to miss that, but I've seen it once, and there will be other occasions, I'm sure.
Our trip was fantastic! Good friends! Many of us go back 40 years or more. We travel well together. Our bus driver, Dennis, has driven us on more than fifty trips now, over about twenty years, and he's just part of the family. Excellent driver, too. It's not a little church bus, it's a big Lone Star charter coach, and it's comfortable. We request Dennis. I would strongly recommend both the Ark Encounter, and the Creation Museum for anybody and everybody. The ark is unbelievable! Huge, at 510 ft long. Once you get inside of it, you can easily believe that Noah did exactly what the Bible says he did, and had all those critters on board. Did he have some of all the animals we know now on board? No. The Bible says he had a pair of each KIND of animal. In other words, animals weren't nearly as diverse as they are now. He may have had a pair of bears. Just bears. Later, as they spread from the ark and repopulated things, they diverged into brown bears, polar bears, grizzly bears, etc. The God who created the basic bear would have no trouble making it possible for that animal to adjust and adapt to changing surroundings. That is adaptation within a species. It's not evolution. That would be when an ape turns into a man, and I'm not ready to own up to any monkey cousins just yet, though I can think of one candidate. Also, as for the dinosaurs, or any of the huge animals - who said he had to bring adult animals on board? He could have brought juveniles, smaller specimens. And - he didn't have to bring any marine animals or fish. They were all safe in the sea. The Bible clearly states that the animals came to Noah, he didn't have to go find them. And so God started once again with the basic building of the family of people and animals on the earth. He preserved a remnant, as He always does, and from that remnant, we all eventually sprang.
I rented a scooter at the Ark, for $35, and it was the best investment I've made in a long time. I ran all over that ark, saw everything, and wasn't worn out at all. I would have been exhausted before I saw a third of it without that scooter. I strongly recommend both the Ark and the Museum for a family vacation!
Now, I'm going to put my weary bod back in bed. Blessings, friends. More tomorrow. --Romeena

RO--sounds like you had a good time, but we aren't spring chickens anymore, so please take care of yourself.
As for me, I now have appts with a vascular surgeon on Monday and a urologist on Tuesday. The ultrasound of my kidneys showed several cysts, and on my left kidney two of them have broken thru the kidney wall and formed a nodule outside. Those kind can go from benign to the big C, so I need to get them checked out by the urologist. Then, the kidney doc thinks the swelling is more from "venous insufficiency" than from the kidneys not working right. He came to that conclusion because my urine was very good, no protien in it, as it should be, and also my creatine etc was good.
So a vascular surgeon will check to see if my big vein carrying blood back to the heart is really doing so as it should. But I do have that a-fib heart which is a little weaker these days, so that is indeed a good possibility. I am going by process of elimination (no pun intended) to find out the cause. In the meantime, I continue the diuretic.
Thanks for the prayers, and thanks for listening!
Our weather today was a beautiful 78 degrees!

Me-They, nice to see you. I actually haven't been visiting here very often either, but it is still nice to see familiar "faces".

Oh Spot, I am envious of your garden. I mentioned last week we don't plant any tender stuff until Mother's Day, then replant it a couple of weeks later when it freezes. Sure enough, I woke this morning to snow falling and they are calling for a low temp below freezing tonight. Oh well, I just hope it doesn't nip my peaches too bad.
Glad you are back safe Romeena, but sorry you got sick. That's not fun. You take care of yourself.
MDC, "A process of elimination". lol Good one. You remain in my prayers for sure friend.
GF, In our tool discussions I am wanting to buy a decent battery powered leaf blower. I am considering a Dewalt or a Milwaukee brand. Any thoughts?
Boo, I hope you and your family are doing ok. Maybe I'll send you a snowball made with our Utah powder. ;)
Well better get back to work. This snow and cold has driven me indoors for the day.

Yes, send me that snowball, Asa. :) We are doing better, thanks. I have learned to roll with it and go with the flow. Not much causes me to panic anymore, believe me. :)
So sorry to hear about the pneumonia, Romeena! That can be really bad stuff. Did you get a pneumonia shot this year? Not that that always prevents it, but just wondering. I had a bad pneumonia once and it was terrible and I was only 20. Hoping you are soon well. Lots of fluids and take care of yourself. Don't hesitate to ask for help from your friends/family if you need it.
Well, MDC, glad you are on top of things and getting all checked out. It's a process that no one wants to go through, but you are wise to do it. Lord direct all involved.
Well, finally...finally we have a crew hear to put in the sprinkler system. It has taken weeks but we finally got someone nailed down and even made him sign a contract if he bails on us. He seems a little squirrely but hopefully, he won't mess up. When I met him yesterday I outright told him, "Don't disappoint me. I've been living in dirt and sand for 7 years!"
Well, stuff to do..Erin has another appointment with the sports med doc today. Her shoulder is much better so I am hoping we can stop the physical therapy.

I don't know Asa, I have a corded "Weed Eater" brand I use, but usually in the fall I use the "Mother Nature" brand and let nature take its corse. I do mulch them into my flower beds and in my compost bin to make that black gold for my plants...
Sorry to hear about your cold weather, I still have been moving my stuff in and out of my garage... I KNOW how weather is in Ohio, Like Forrest says.."Ya never know what your gonna get!"
We do thank the farmers in Florida, Georgia, California and Texas for their early produce tho..🌽🍅🍉🍓
Continuing prayers for Romeena and MDC and others who are feeling under the weather...Hang in there!..
TOM Where are You?..We have been having some warm weather this week so it's time to pop out for awhile....
This weekend is the Mayberry in the Midwest Event near Indianapolis, I'll say hey to Floyd from the Porch for y'all.

Afternoon' Friends!
My workday is wrapping up after a surprise visit from our CEO who is out of our Little Rock office. It went well but I was just surprised!
Romeena- I am so sorry you're feeling bad! Your trip sounds wonderful!
MDC- When you mentioned your legs I actually had the thought of your heart. I'll be praying.
Sterlin- It's an old farmhouse so I am guessing it was someone's home back in the day.
Spot- Your garden sounds like it's doing real well this year! Are we still in a drought?
Asa- I don't care for 91 (which is expected today) but I don't think I'd care for snow in May either.
Boo- I'm glad Erin's shoulder is doing better!
G-F- Have fun at the Mayberry event!
Well, I need to shut down the computer. Y'all have a great rest of the day!
Blessings to you and yours,
~Lucy

Wow, a VERY slow day on the porch. I hope RO and everyone else is
OK; and GF at the TAGS midwest gathering.
I got a blood test today to check my thyroid and iron levels to see if such may be contributing to my fatigue and also the chills! I've been poked and prodded
so much this month that i feel like a pin cushion! ha
Well, you all have a good porch evening.

Good Friday morning all.
MDC, It sounds like you have been poked and groped and doped buddy. I hope it all comes back good though. How is the new knee doing? I went up yesterday after work and visited with a lady in our Church who just had her knee replaced. She is in a rehab center now for a couple of weeks getting P.T. She seems to be doing pretty good.
I hope our Dear Romeena is ok. I worry about her so.
Yes Lucy, crazy weather for sure. But our snow storm yesterday is doing tornados now in the Midwest. So I think I'll take the snow and cold. One of our local ski resorts had a low of 9 degree's last night. We got down to 29, so it may have done damage to my peaches, durn it!
GF, Have fun with your Mayberry weekend. I wish I could be there. One of these days I may make it.
Well off to work I go. In the middle of summer prep now, so plenty to do.

Good morning, porch! It's nice to know that you all miss me when I'm gone. I'm feeling a bit better, though still far from 100%. I got my son to relocate the O2 concentrator. It's now in the office, and has a very long line on it, so it will reach my bed easily, and my big chair in the living room, my desk here at my window, and even a little way into the kitchen. That supplemental O2 really helps when you have pneumonia. Yes, I had the pneumonia shot, I guess this is a variety the shot doesn't cover. I'll tell you for a fact, it sure wears you out! I have an O2 saturation monitor, and when I carried my trash to the street last night and came back in, it registered 72%. Yep, I was breathing hard! Put the O2 back on, and it immediately climbed to 96% and I was feeling fine again. Amazing how that works.
Well, I need to find something to eat, but am running out of soup. I need to make a trip to the grocery store, but don't think I'm quite up to it. Maybe I'll call David and see if he's going to be in town, and I can text him a list. I don't need much. I hate to bother him with that, though. Maybe tomorrow I'll feel up to a short trip. You all be good now, and act like somebody! --Romeena

ASA--it was my left hip that was replaced.
The hip itself is doing fine! it is all this other 'stuff' that has me down now. But i think we're 'getting there.' Monday and tues appts should tell me more. (Vascular surgeon and urologist for the cysts)
RO and MAUDE...I hear on the news of bad storms your way. I hope all is OK with you both.
Prayers,
MDC

Sorry MDC. I knew it was your hip. I guess I just have a knee compelsion also. Remember that football player named I.M. Hipp? I always thought that was a great football name, but he never did do much in the N.F.L. I reckon. Anyway, glad to hear that the hip is better.

Good morning, porch. I'm feeling a little bit better each day, starting to get some of that crud up and out of my chest and that helps. (Ick.) Haven't had fever in several days, just weak and tremulous, and O2 sat drops to the basement when I take this line off. I need a few groceries, but hesitate to drive right now. Was wondering what to do, when my son called last night and said, "Mom, I'm going to be in Irving tomorrow. I don't think you should drive right now, so text me a grocery list, and I'll pick them up and bring them by the house." I hadn't said anything to him, that's just the way his mind works. I am so blessed.
One good thing that's come out of this - I've lost about fifteen pounds. I've had no appetite, didn't eat much on the trip and burned up a lot of energy and calories at the same time, and the weight just fell off. Haven't eaten much since I've been home, and it's continuing to come off. I'm pickled tink! This is just the jump-start I need to get this excess weight off of me. I'll feel so much better - already do!
Thanks, MDC. I'm aware of those portable concentrators. The one I have here is a bigger, heavy one with a very long line on it, definitely not portable. I was considering getting one of the little ones, to take along on flights with my son, but now that his plane was destroyed, I guess I won't be needing that. I'm hoping that once I get past this pneumonia, I won't need it on the ground. It's nice to know that something like that is available, though.
We had some good rain last night, and I guess it has brought the earthworms to the surface, because my yard is full of robins, scurrying around and stopping every few feet to listen. Now and then one starts probing the ground, and comes up with a worm! Happy little baby birds in a nest somewhere, I guess.
Well, I think I'll go rustle up something to eat. Not much, I'm not hungry. Maybe I'll cook some steel-cut oats. Sounds good. Blessings, friends. --Romeena

ROMEENA-- well, I guess that is one round about way of losing weight! Just be sure to eat tho, you need to keep up your strength, perhaps some good hot soup would hit the spot. Always does for me when I
am feeling poorly. Glad your son has that "intuition!" :)
I wonder where everyone is these days.
I think an APB over Barney's bullhorn is in order! "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of thy neighbor."
Good Sabbath to all! Jesus is the way!! woo hoo,
