Just don't call Mr. Wheeler to fix the roof or you may end up doing the work yourself like Andy had to...lol

Romeena, hope you get the right amount of rain and not have to deal with what Possum's people had to. Speaking of Possum, as MDC said, we thinks is Ok to come out from under your rock now....

October 23, 2015 - Msg 103049: Good evening, porch! PH, it's good to see you - we've been missing you! Sounds like you've been busy as a cow's tail in fly season. Closing out a home like that is not easy. I've been there, and it's hard. My dad was still living, and I'll never get the picture out of my mind. He sat in the middle of the living room, on a folding chair, and watched as his life was dismantled before his eyes. He was moving to an assisted living facility, so part of his furniture was going with him, my brother took a few pieces, I took a few, and my children took little bits and pieces. My mother had at some time gone through the house and put little sticky notes on the bottom of a lot of things, with the name of the child or grandchild she wanted it to go to. That helped! I'll never forget my dad's bravery, and dignity, through the whole process. He was quite a guy.

We've gotten a lot of rain. If I didn't have that drainage system in my back yard, with the pump to carry the excess water to the street, I would have water coming under my back door right now, but as it is, there was no problem. Some areas have flooded, and there were the usual situations where someone tries to drive into it and gets stranded (why will they do that??) but so far, no tragedies that I've heard about.

I hope it lets up for tomorrow though. I really do have to make that home health call tomorrow, can't put it off like I did today. Oh well, as I said, I won't melt. Blessings, friends! --Romeena

POOR Horatio--good to see you! Like RO said, I bet most of us have been thru that. At least I now have MYSELF sort of "tuned in" to what might happen down the road if we have to sell.
Speaking of that TAGS episode, you are right, tho he could have been just vouching for his "character." But also, he says that a trip to Mt. Pilot normally only takes an hour, but in other eps, MP is said to be only 12 miles away!
RO--I guess you know that your rain is from that terrible hurricane Patricia. Please pray for Mexico, as it made quite a swath thru there.
ASA--I also like that "copper clapper caper" bit!
I saw on Antenna TV that they are going to run the old Johnny shows starting in January. I'm guessing mainly the guests and skits as his monologues would be very dated.

October 24, 2015 - Msg 103051: OH, I also saw on FB that our Floyd will be turning 50 in 50 days!

October 24, 2015 - Msg 103052: Good morning, porch! You say our Floyd is about to turn 50? Why, he's just a whippersnapper! I remember when I turned 50 (barely) and I thought I was just so old!! Little did I know that someday I'd be 76, and 50 would sound so young.

It's still raining here, my back yard is just soggy, and there's no sign of it letting up. The Bible says the rain falls on the just, and on the unjust. Makes me wonder which category I'm in!

Guess I'd better feed my little sidekick, and get dressed. That home health call has to be made, and then I have to come home, shower and wash my hair, and go get a haircut. I miss the days when I could let the shampoo lady at the shop wash it. She did a great job, lots of neck and temples massaging, and got my hair so clean. However, since that neck surgery, with the hardware that's in my neck now, lying back into that shampoo bowl is not an option. Not even with towels to pad it - it just doesn't work. So, I shampoo at home, and go to my appointment with wet hair! It's not really a problem, because my hair is pretty much wash-and-wear anyway. I just comb it into place, push the waves in, and let it dry. A little bonus God gave me when I took chemo in '79. I lost most of my hair, but when it came back in, it was wavy and much better-behaved than it had ever been. Grows like a weed, too, at least an inch a month, and it's quite thick. I just keep it short, and it's very easy to manage.

OK, off I go. Blessings, friends! --Romeena

October 25, 2015 - Msg 103054: I love BJ Thomas. Great singer. He is no Gordon Lightfoot, but pretty darn good. I hope the rains are not getting to carried away for you gals, and that your pump keeps on pumping Romeena.

GF, boy howdy, I got called in to work last night for a water leak. Sure enough, another pin hole in a copper line. This one in a different building, and on a cold water line this time. And within a half an inch of a soldered joint. I can see this is going to be a continuous problem.

Good to see you PH. Sounds like you are plenty busy, but making a little money for your efforts at least.

My goodness, the weather this fall has just been spectacular. Mid to upper 60's in the afternoon. Upper 40's at night. I fired up the furnace yesterday morning just to make sure it was ready to go after servicing it. Other than that I have not had the a/c or the furnace on for a month now. I can dig it! :)

Well better go get ready for Preachin. Our Church building aint leaning one direction or another, and we have a/c in the building, and the women aint hollering about needing robes. So maybe I will suggest a pool table for the mens group. Might work. :)

October 25, 2015 - Msg 103056: Here I am- put them long poinky sticks away & get that smoke outta here!! LOL

I've been hiding from these monster mosquitoes,y'all! Since the SC flood,we have gazillions of them, and they are huge! It's terrible. We need a mosquito wrangler to come in here and round 'em up & carry them off somewhere.

B.J. Thomas- good singer, always liked him. I recall Rev telling us that he used to perform with him.

Speaking of Rev,I went through his hometown of Prosperity last weekend-rode right by his home church. Sure miss that good ol fella.

There was a shooting last night at the SC State Fair- my daughter was there and heard the shots, saw blood, ran out of there as fast as she could. She said people were screaming and throwing their kids up under benches & tables, trying to protect them. News reports say a 15 year old was shot in the lower body & is hospitalized. And they have metal detectors and security at the entrance gates, for what good that does. Crazy!!
She called me immediately after the shooting to let me know she was okay. Laci was with other relatives,so thank goodness she was not there.
You can't go anywhere anymore! People get killed in church!

Ok,well,y'all know how it is,so let me hush. Wishing everyone a nice peaceful Sunday.

It's no wonder they get so much for it at the store, it's a lot of work, I marinated it for 2 days and then it takes about 2-3 hrs. to dry it out in the oven... I don't do it to often so it's a special treat when I do...

Romeena & Boo, I hope you two are drying out and not had any damage from all the rain....

Good to see you Possum. Scary thing about the shooting. Glad your daughter is ok though.

I hope Romeena and Boo are ok. Sounds like quite a storm for sure.

I think I just may heat me up a bowl of that chili for lunch, watch some football on tv, and take a little nap. Yep, that's the plan. Chili, football, nap! Yessir, that's what I think I'll do, have a bowl of chili, watch some foo....

POSSUM--so sad about the State Fair shooting!

October 26, 2015 - Msg 103062: Wow Possum, glad your daughter got out of there. Sounds like she was pretty close to the action.

Things are crazy all over. Just yesterday, here in our little sleepy town, Noah and I were on the bike trail on our way to a playground, when I noticed a couple doing something in the grass. They weren't looking for stones to skip on the lake either, if you know what I mean.
This was right out in the open, not even 8 feet from the trail. We had just passed a little girl about 5 years old riding bike with her dad and grandpa walking behind coming from the other direction, and I know they must have seen it as well.
After telling them to "get a room." I called the cops on them. I couldn't believe they were doing this right out in the open, on a public path on a Sunday afternoon, with kids and all sorts of people walking or biking by.

I may have irked some people here recently by not presenting enough details to a story. But I don't think anyone will mind if I skip the details on this one.

Yep G.F. I survived the chili. Now dealing with the fall out... so to speak. :0 How did your jerky turn out?

MDC, As for repairs, I cut out the bad section and resolder new pipe in its place. As GF mentioned, there are times when we will make a temporary repair with a piece of rubber and a hose clamp. But that is just to hold it over until we can do the repair right at the appropriate time.

My goodness Sterling, that is strange what you came across. Just another indication of where we are at anymore in our sorry twisted society.

Sure hope Ro is ok. Ain't heard a word from her since she had to go do her visit.

Better get back to plumbing I reckon.

October 26, 2015 - Msg 103066: Good morning, porch! Yep, I think our drought has broken, for sure. I don't know how much rain we've had officially, but I'm thinking it has to be in double digits. Today the sky looks like lead, and more rain is predicted. Then they say next weekend will be rainy. Poor little trick-or-treaters! Our church does the Trunk-or-Treat thing, where people decorate (or not) their cars, load the trunk with candy and park in a big circle on the church parking lot. The kids come in costumes (demonic stuff is discouraged) and go from car to car. We'll also have a bounce-house, and a cookie-walk, a fish pond, balloon-popping, the usual stuff that kids enjoy. At the entrance there will be a table where volunteers will register the families that come in, getting names and addresses, and of course, later there will be a follow-up visit to thank them for coming, and to invite them to church! I just hope we don't get rained out. If we do, I guess we could down-size it a bit, and move into the gym. Not sure about the bounce-house, though. Well, that's not my problem, but I do hope it doesn't rain.

"Medium Done Cow"? How about "Rarely Done Cow"? A touch of pink just doesn't get it for me. I like LOTS of pink! Maybe some downright RED! My dad once said he had seen a cow get well that was hurt worse than my steak was. Funny thing. When I married Dale, that boy wouldn't touch meat that wasn't practically charred, he wouldn't eat pinto beans, or black-eyed peas (called them cow feed) and Mexican food was out of the question. Within five years of marriage to this Texas gal, he ate all of those things with pleasure, and once told the waiter at a steakhouse to just trot his steak past the fire, knock off the horns and hooves, and it would be about right. His family was horrified, especially when he told them he had learned to like guacamole, and boy, he really did like it! His brother, on the other hand, refused to eat a dill pickle from a quart jar that had one small jalapeņo pepper in the bottom. I had one left in a jar, and had just dropped it into the pickle jar, rather than store another jar with one pepper in it. It wasn't even a very hot pepper! Still, my BIL tried to act like his mouth was on fire after he ate part of a pickle. No reaction was noted until he saw the pepper, then all of a sudden, the pickles were hot! Doofus.

OK, got things to do. Blessings, porch. --Romeena

October 26, 2015 - Msg 103067: Me again. The above was written this morning, I got interrupted, and just came back on and signed off on it. Then I read the things that had been posted since I started the first one. Wow! Possum, that's scary about the shooting where your daughter was. And Sterling, too bad you didn't have a bucket of cold water to throw on them. For cryin' out loud, what are people thinking? They should be arrested for that. But the ACLU would probably scream about it violating their rights to something or other, can't imagine what. I am so everlastingly sick of political correctness!

That atheist snake, Mikey Weinstein, has lodged a complaint about the "Christmas Child" program, run by the Samaritan's Purse organization. Our church participates every year. People fill shoeboxes, or a similar container, with small items that would be helpful or attractive to a needy child - small toys, toothpaste, toothbrush, a comb, hair clips, underwear, maybe a t-shirt, hard candies, pencils, anything you can stuff into a small box. These are then delivered to needy children around the world. Of course, a brief message about the Gospel is included, and that's what ticks old Mikey off. So he wants the whole thing stopped. What a sad, unhappy, hate-filled person he must be. When I think of what all Christians are asked to ignore - filthy music, language, movies, TV shows, exhibitionist behavior and clothing (or lack thereof) - I wonder why he can't just mind his own business, and ignore what offends him, as we are asked to do. He'll get his reward one day, and for that, I feel sorry for him.

G-F, I'm impressed! You make your own beef jerky? I love the stuff, when I can find some that's good. And Asa, look at you, making that chili! I'll bet it was good. Thanks for your concern about me, but I'm fine. Haven't washed away yet, but more rain is coming later in the week.

Blessings, everyone. --Romeena

October 26, 2015 - Msg 103068: Yeah, G-F, and these two definitely weren't just necking up at Myers Lake. They weren't "totally" undressed, at least on top and partially on the bottom, but any 8 year old could have deciphered what they were up to.

Yeah Romeena, I thought of going up right next to them staring at them to see if they noticed me and stopped, but since I had Noah with me I just wanted to go by as quickly as possible. That, and I don't know if they would have stopped anyway since they seemed to not care who noticed them doing what they were doing where they were. Your cold bucket of water is a good idea though. Now I wish I carried one with me. There was a little creek nearby, maybe I should have thrown them in.

Romeena, we were thinking of going to one of those "trunk or treat" things at another church yesterday. But as I was picking Kai up from our MIL, I had a conviction about that happening on a Sunday, and I really think God placed some truth on my heart about it.
I told my wife I didn't want to be a part of that on a Sunday, and did receive some backlash at first from her, and Kai, surprisingly. I told my wife that if it were on any day than Sunday I would feel differently about it. It just seemed odd to me doing that on what traditionally is a holy day.
She pretty quickly saw my way and decided to not take Noah at all, with or without me.

And I decided to take Noah to the park, which is when I ran into that other situation I just talked about that also shouldn't have been taking place in a public place on a Sunday(or any day for that matter).

About that Weinstein character, why does it seem that these people always feel the need to stop anything that is doing good, for body AND soul?! Is it because they don't have any?

October 26, 2015 - Msg 103070: 👀👀 Must be the Count Sterling....lol

October 26, 2015 - Msg 103071: Hey, Sterling. I would feel the same way about the "trunk or treat" thing on a Sunday. Ours will be on Saturday night, which is Halloween. A few years ago, Halloween fell on Sunday, and we still did it, but on Saturday night, not Sunday. Also, we discourage the gory or witchy costuming. Any decorating done by the church is just cute, with pumpkins and such, and any church people who wear costumes go for happy stuff, like animal costumes and the like. We usually have a couple of Raggedy Anns or maybe Popeye or some such. One year two teenage guys came in a horse suit! Of course we can't and don't try to control what visitors wear, and there will be at least a couple of hundred kids from the neighborhood, and there are bound to be vampires and witches and ghosts, but we can't control that. We want everyone to feel welcome, because after all, that's the whole point - to get non-members to visit the church, get to know some of us, and maybe they'll feel welcome to come back for services. Many times, they do.

Mikey Weinstein is a pitiable character, and some day he will have a lot to answer for. It would be easy to just hate him, but I try to remember that God loves him too, and died for him the same as He did for me, so I just try to pray for him. It's hard to do, sometimes. We can't help hating what he does, but we are still commanded to love the sinner, because that includes all of us.

Well, guess I'll go rustle up some supper. Wish I had a bowl of Asa's chili! I've got some in a can in the pantry, but somehow, it just wouldn't be the same. Maybe some soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. That sounds pretty good. Blessings, friends. --Romeena

October 27, 2015 - Msg 103073: GF--did you make any 'turkey jerky' in a Ronco dehydrator? ha That Ron Popeil sure came up with some goodies!
ROMEENA--Samaritan's Purse is a private, Christian entity. Seems like this Mikey guy would have no say in the matter! Strange stuff.
ASA--thanks for the answer.
STERling, I dont want to start a moulage, but think about what you said, if you have reservations about doing something on a Sunday, why would any other day be different? I have strong feelings about that "holiday" and no longer
do the traditional stuff. Our country is the only one in the world that now has this 2 month long, macabre obsession with it! We do an alternative
at church where the kids come dressed as Bible characters. Kids just want to 'dress up,' so we keep it positive. We've had everyone from Moses to the Archangel Gabriel...very well done too. Just my thoughts on it.
Prayers,
MDC

October 27, 2015 - Msg 103074: Good morning, porch! MDC, you're right, one would think that Mikey would have no right to try to damage a private entity, but our government gives him that right. Just as California has passed a law - a law, mind you - governing crisis pregnancy centers who, unlike Planned Parenthood, are NOT abortion mills. I received an email from the ACLJ - here's an excerpt: California just enacted a pro-abortion law forcing pro-life pregnancy centers to promote free abortions or face crippling fines. Tell me what's constitutional about that, please? Yet, they're getting away with it. As it has been said, all that is required for evil to prevail, is for good men to do nothing.

About the Halloween thing - I hear what you're saying regarding Sunday vs any other day for a Halloween festival, and your point is well taken. However, I think that question could be raised in a lot of situations. For example, when I was younger and had the legs to swing it, I wore shorts a lot in the summer. However, I just couldn't make myself wear them into our church facility. If I knew I was going by the church for something, even just to pick up a book or whatever, I would put on jeans. It was a matter of respect. These days, as I've said earlier, our Halloween function is more of a carnival-type thing, with little games and the kids "trick-or-treat" at the cars parked around the designated area, with their trunks open and candy being given out. One year, before we opened it to the neighborhood, we had a party for the church kids and called it an "Old McDonald's Party", and asked the kids to come dressed as farm animals. Now, with the whole neighborhood invited, we can't control the costuming, but the flyers suggest animals, cartoon characters, "friendly" stuff. Not all will comply, and I'm sure we'll have some zombies, but at least it gets them on the church property and in touch with some of the church folks, and maybe they'll come back. Years ago, while my own kids were small, we got away from the occult stuff, and just made it a fun evening, with cute and funny costumes.

I know some people object to Easter and Christmas because the dates and celebrations can be traced back to pagan practices, and I suppose there could be a point there. However, I've always felt like there's another way to look at it. Maybe we've taken a pagan holiday, turned it upside down, pre-empted it so to speak, changed the focus and made it into a holiday that honors God. It really doesn't matter that Jesus wasn't actually born in December. What matters is that he was born, and we celebrate that. Easter may fall on the day of a former pagan holiday, but who cares? What do eggs have to do with Christ's resurrection? Not much, but eggs are a symbol of the beginning of a new life, and on Saturday night before Easter, while I dye the pretty eggs, it brings back memories of my mother doing the same thing, and telling me the story of the resurrection while she worked. Also, on a more primal level, the smell of the vinegar that is part of the dyeing process never fails to remind me of the vinegar that was offered to Christ to drink, when he was thirsty on the cross. See John 19:28-29.

Well, enough of that. I've got a home health call to make in an hour, and I'm not even dressed yet, haven't even fed Toye Starr! Blessings, friends. --Romeena

October 27, 2015 - Msg 103075: Phew! I'm home, finally, and what a day! When I left this morning, I noticed that my car was handling funny, pulling to the right a little, and I could feel bumps more than usual. That car usually rides over most bumps very smoothly. I finished my first home health call, and started to drive away from her house. The car felt heavy, there was a grinding noise in the front end, and it pulled hard to the right. I was three blocks from my mechanic, so I went straight there. When I got out and checked, I found the right front tire was flat, completely, and a bit beat-up from the three block drive. The tires are only three months old, so my mechanic just put the spare on for me, and I drove to Discount Tires, where they put on a new tire, no charge. There was a big old screw embedded in the flat one. Who knows where that came from?? Then I made my second call, and found that my patient had a sky-high blood pressure, so had to call his doctor, etc. Finally, I'm home, and I'm glad! A big old glass of iced tea is the thing I want most right now.

Oh, my. I've got piles of stuff all over this room, and I've got to go through them and sort out what's junk and what's to be kept, and I don't know when I'm going to do it. I've got to plan a lesson for my ESL folks for tomorrow, and that will take up much of this evening. Then much of tomorrow I'll be at the church. Thursday I'm going with a church group to visit the Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park. Should be interesting, but will take up most of the day. Friday I'll be getting ready for my daughter and SIL to arrive late that afternoon - got to buy groceries, etc. Then they'll be here for the weekend. Maybe next week I'll find time to get this done. I've got to finish, so the new carpet can go in. I want that done by Thanksgiving, so I can put up my Christmas tree on that weekend. Again I ask, how did I ever have time to work???

Blessings, friends. --Romeena

October 27, 2015 - Msg 103080: Well, G-F, all I can say is, it may be you, but it sure as shootin' isn't JUST you, because that disgusts me, too. Of all the over-the-top, tasteless displays, that takes the cake. I thought the man crucified upside down was a particularly offensive touch. What are these people thinking???

Yes, I suppose my car has a jack, though I can pretty well promise you that I won't be caught trying to use it. I learned a long time ago - just "call the man!" Actually, I was very fortunate, in that I was just three blocks from my mechanic. Here's the funny part! My car displays "trouble" messages, and it has been saying "check tire pressure" for over a week now. I can scroll through a display for all four tires, and it will say "OK" or "LOW - pressure is 17 (or whatever)". I had checked that, it was telling me the left rear tire was low, but I had it checked and it wasn't. I was thinking something was wrong with the sensor. So when the car was pulling and making that grinding noise, I checked and it still said the left rear was low. Therefore, I'm thinking bearings were shot or something, not realizing it was a flat. When I turned into the mechanic's lot though, I could tell by the way it felt that it was a flat. I ran that little check again, and it still said the right front was OK, when I was looking at it, flat as it could be. Anyway, when I got it to Discount Tire, I told the service guy about that display, and asked if maybe when they put the new tires on three months ago, they crossed something up so the sensor was reading the wrong tire. Turns out I was right, and they fixed it.

Well, guess I'll go watch a little TV. I've got my ESL lesson planned for tomorrow, so I can relax. Blessings, friends. --Romeena

October 28, 2015 - Msg 103085: Hello everyone. I read some of the past posts but not, sorry if I missed a comment addressed to me personally. We are doing ok. I am glad to see the rest of you seem to be. POSSUM, terrible thing about that shooting and so thankful your daughter and Laci are ok! Crazy times. The other day there was a shooting threat at Sean's college..different campus but it just makes me so mad.

Ro, sounds like you are staying busy enough. Hope you are able to easily accomplish your tasks before the holidays. When are you going to start your tree? I am seriously thinking of starting my decorating early this year since I am working..less time to accomplish. I have already done most of my Christmas shopping. Yay! Since my kids are older now, we get them less gifts, so it is easier.. We usually set a reasonable limit and get them a couple of things. Last week Sean and I were in the mall and went to Bealls. They had their leather jackets on sale and I got a beautiful brown leather jacket for Sean. It was regular 180.00, a good brand, too. I got it for 80.00 after the lady who checked me out told me to get a coupon off my phone for another 25% off. Of course, he wont get it until Christmas. That will be his big gift but I will get a couple of other things for him. Erin's gift is pre-ordered and I have a few more things to get online for her.

Anyway, we aren't doing anything special for Halloween. My sister and her son are coming over for caramel apples and snacks, maybe a movie. Matthew's little girl, Emily will do the trick or treat thing with her mom but we might get her after that, hopefully. Matthew is doing better but still has his bad days. His unfaithful wife is almost an ex now. Things were complicated, legally, when she told us she was pregnant with her 21 year old boyfriend's baby (she is 35). She has to sign a document with Matt's lawyer ensuring that this baby is not Matt's and I guess she is dragging her feet. They have been apart for more than a year so no chance. He hasn't even been in the same room with her for a year. Enough of that soap opera.. Its frustrating but not much to do about it. So sad what divorce does in families. I see the result of it every day at work

October 28, 2015 - Msg 103086: I was afraid to continue in the same post because of this crazy laptop..it would surely lose the post eventually.
Well, I am enjoying a day off after two long shifts. I still love my job but it is getting more difficult due to nurses that are sick or having surgery, etc. On Mondays and Fridays I am scheduled with only one other nurse and we split the boys and girls. Just giving all the evening meds and as-needed meds for boo-boos and headaches, anxiety, etc. is a full time job, but add admissions and paperwork and it is constant. I like it that way, though. The time flies by. The last two evenings, I have come on shift to girls in restraint..what that means is that they are being violent and out of control and require being held and contained by a staff member. Its not a pretty thing but it happens. We usually end up giving a shot of some sort of sedative and that does the trick but I hate doing it. This children are full of so much pain and anger, especially the girls. I think it is because of rejection and abuse. I am very thankful to be there to help in some small way, but I have to guard from discouragement. The future of most of these kids seems very bleak. Its as though you see pain in it's most raw and raging form. I shut it out for the most part but it will surface when I least expect it. I guess as long as it continues to surface and I get rid of it, I will be able to continue. I don't wont to end up with compassion fatigue...yes, it is an actual diagnosis. :)

Today is Bruce's birthday. He is 58. Yikes. What happened? The years have flown! I am thankful to have him in fairly good health. He hasn't had any cardiac issues since the stent in 2009. He is too fat, though. We both need to work on that.

I don't remember if I asked prayer for my cousin Dan, but I think I did. He is still in ICU on a ventilator but is making baby steps in progress. They are lowering the oxygen in hope of getting him off the vent but he is in acute renal failure now. My Aunt Linda is doing better and has found a sense of peace in all of this.

Well, better go get a few chores done. I think I am behind in every single things!

Love to all,
Boo

October 28, 2015 - Msg 103087: Sterling, wanted to comment on the couple in the grass. Unfortunately exhibitionism is one of those common fetishes that is gaining popularity in this crazy society. They do that sort of thing on purpose, probably hoping some child will see them. Really sick, but it happens. Pray for revival in this country. Its our only real hope. Repentance, deliverance and revival.

October 28, 2015 - Msg 103088: AMEN Boo! Yes, all three are needed! So good to see you on the front porch.
Regarding the other topic, I'll be brief, but it is one of the
hoildays that never got an alternative like Christmas in place of winter solstice, but I dont recall it being so commercialized either, and with such a long build-up like it is today. When I was a kid, we would just dress up a bit with whatever we had, run around the block to about 10 neighbors' homes and were back in a half-hour with popcorn balls, apples and a few candy bars. These people who do all the gore are just SICK!
I mean, really, a life-life child impaled on a post? Sorry, that is sick! Those people have some demonic forces behind them. With all we have today with ISIS etc etc, around the world, why do we need this? Have any of you noticed the increase in shootings etc since the
Supreme court's decision this past June? Lord help us.
OK, I've said my three-cents worth. Soapbox going back
under the porch. Thanks.
We are suppose to get rain tomorrow!! woohoo!
Joanna Moore was on the Rifleman yesterday.
Anyone watch the marathon baseball game last night?
God's blessings on all,
MDC

October 29, 2015 - Msg 103089: Good evening, porch! Boo, it's great to hear from you. Been missing you, my friend! Hang in there with those kids. You may very well be the only positive influence in their lives, and certainly may be the only Godly influence. You have a calling, I think.

There has, for sure, been a frightening increase in the violence and displays of cruelty in our society. Just recently, in this area, someone went onto private property during the night and attacked two gentle, family-pet horses with an axe. One horse was dead when found, the other cruelly wounded and had to be euthanized. They belonged to a little 11-yr old girl, who of course, is devastated. Why would someone do such a thing? Satanic influence comes to mind.

Personally, and this is strictly my own opinion, I believe we're going to see more and more cases of lives, both human and animal, being taken for no apparent reason. It has been getting worse ever since we decided as a society that it was perfectly okay to invade a mother's body and destroy the life growing there, because that life was "inconvenient" or just plain unwanted. We are teaching our children that there is no sanctity to life, that it doesn't matter, and it's permissible to destroy a life just because one wishes to do so. We are reaping what we have sown, and as a society, we're going to be held accountable.

Fortunately, that scripture still stands - II Chronicles 7:14 - and it's still true. If we turn aside from our wicked ways, and seek the Lord, He is still there, and will hear us. Ol' Mikey Weinstein would disagree, but unfortunately for him, I have as much right to speak my happy beliefs as he has to voice his sad doubts. Blessings, porch! --Romeena

October 30, 2015 - Msg 103097: Thanks, Possum. Actually, I wondered when I wrote that question if that might be the explanation, but wasn't sure. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't overlooking something that would be important to Spot. You confirmed my "wondering" and I appreciate it.

Just got home from the grocery store, got all the stuff to make pork chops and gravy for dinner tonight. Robbi and Richard are on their way here, and Dave and Brittney and the boys, and Eloise and Jerry will join us for a big old pork chop extravaganza. Take that, WHO and the UN.

Did you ever hear anything so ridiculous as what the UN is trying to do? They want to ban all cured meats, such as bacon, sausage and the like, because the World Health Organization has decided that those things are bad for our health, and has actually placed bacon in the same category as cigarettes, with regard to being carcinogenic. I've read an article written by a respected researcher, and he says their findings are seriously flawed, and basically, just aren't true. He presents a multitude of findings from other studies that debunk the WHO's conclusions. Lawww, what's next! All I can say is, if the UN thinks they're going to effectively ban the consumption of bacon and ham and such in the United States, I believe they'd better think again. How ridiculous! Also, does anybody smell a rat in this whole thing? We need to get out of the UN, and leave them to consume themselves eventually. --Romeena

October 30, 2015 - Msg 103100:
This morning, I watched some classic TV programs that were related to Halloween. They included Hazel, Leave it to Beaver, Dennis the Menace and Bewitched. During a Dennis the Menace episode, I was surprised to see a guest star that all of us are familiar with. Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ouz-l57Lyis and watch from 3:05 to 4:24 and again from 11:05 to 11:22.

I find it refreshing to watch scary programs that does not include any blood and gore.

COZI-TV will be broadcasting a 12 hour Munsters marathon beginning at noon (eastern time) on Halloween day. I receive COZI both on my basic cable and via my HDTV antenna. To find out if it will be broadcast in your area, visit http://www.cozitv.com/get-cozi-tv/ and type in your zip code.
