January 24, 2008 - Msg 59841: Wow! I swept, and I wasn't even sure I was on the porch. Just saw some dust-bunnies and went after them.

Yeah, old Phelps is going to get it some day. He's going to push the wrong family just an inch too far, and someone is going to take him and some of his thugs out. Some distraught father trying to bury a solder son/daughter is going to snap, and that will be that. The man is a viper, and he leads a nest of vipers, and sadly, I really think they believe they're doing God's will. Unfortunately, God doesn't award points for intentions.

Well, gotta run. Time for Starr's nap, and mine as well. Be blessed! --Romeena

Good sweep Romeena, now if you could just "sweep" all these NY and New England folks out of here!! haha. I had to laugh out loud when the NFL announced that it was planting 42 whole trees in our area to "offset the carbon footprint" of Superbowl 42. That was the same day it was also announced that over one thousand private jets will be landing here for the game! It is in a new stadium in a suburb of Phoenix-Glendale, AZ

January 25, 2008 - Msg 59861: Here's the long and, perhaps, boring story about what *may* be causing the problems some of you are still seeing.

When our servers (tagsrwc.com's host) were changed on Monday, the IP address of the server changed. Every machine on the Internet has a unique identifying number, called an IP Address. A typical IP address looks like this -- 209.51.136.65 -- which happens to be the tagsrwc.com server's new IP address.

When the IP changed, the Domain Name Servers (DNS) all over the Internet had to be updated to show the new IP address that's associated with TAGSRWC.com as being 209.51.136.65. DNS is kind of like a phone book where you go to lookup a domain name (TAGSRWC.com) and you're given the "phone number" (IP address) of the server so you can call it and get an answer.

When you change an IP address, all the DNS servers on the Internet have to be told that the IP they have listed for your server has changed (like notifying folks you've changed your phone number). This *normally* takes about 72 hours for the information to be spread around but some DNS servers "cache" the information longer than others so the time varies.

Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) normally runs a DNS server to which your computer contacts to ask for DNS lookup information.

That said, your local computer can also cache information about the IP address of domains.

To flush and reset a client resolver cache using the ipconfig command so Start> Run and type
ipconfig /flushdns

Doing that will NOT hurt your computer and it may help clear some of the problems some of you are seeing.

You may also want to clear your browser cache (temporary internet files) as well.

You can check to make sure you are getting to the correct IP when you got to TAGSRWC.com by doing the following. Go Start > Run and type CMD
In the CMD window type: nslookup tagsrwc.com

You should see a result that list: Address: 209.51.136.65

If you get any other IP address....there's still a problem with DNS somewhere.

I hope that helps a BIT in explaining what's happening.

I'm sorry for the continued problems.

--Floyd

January 25, 2008 - Msg 59862: Probably a stupid question, Floyd, but if we are not having any more problems getting here, should we do the "flush" anyway?
That sounds like a new dance, "The Flush".;)

Thanks for your help as always, Floyd!

-Sterling Holobyte

January 25, 2008 - Msg 59863: Well, I made it on this evening! Hope the rest of you can. Sounds like it's real cold in some of your areas. Its in the 40's here and rainy. I had to take Sean to Houston today and talk about some crazy drivers! I was almost run over several times by speedy drivers (while it was raining...).

I agree, Possum, what is up with TVLand? I keep seeing commercials for a new show...something called Class Reunion (I think that's the name, anyway), and the commercials are not exactly kid-friendly. TVLand used to be a safe place for kids but not anymore.

Someone one her mentioned that Bonanza was kind of "corny" and since I never watch it, I thought I would give it a shot. I watched it a few days ago and I must say that it was so sickeningly sweet that I nearly went into a coma! In the episode, Hoss was trying to find his true love and bring her home after the break-up of her bad marriage. She was supposedly pregnant and in the hospital to have the baby. She did not look pregnant and she died (apparently only from the lack of "will to live"). Very corny stuff, but "more power to ya" if you like that kind of thing.

Better go get Erin in the bathtud...

Boo

January 25, 2008 - Msg 59864: Hmmm... did the CMD one first, and it brought up a couple other IP addresses, but then did bring up the one you listed, Floyd.
Then I did the "flush" and then did the lookup again, and now it just says that tagsrwc.com can't be found.
Curious.

btw Boo, what's a bathtud? ;)

January 25, 2008 - Msg 59866: Hey Sterling,

The fact that you saw more than one IP when you did the nslookup...that's the problem. There should only be ONE result for the IP for TAGSRWC.com.

If tagsrwc.com can't be found, how are you getting here? :)

January 25, 2008 - Msg 59867: test

January 25, 2008 - Msg 59868: Wow! Not only did I get on, but my "test" worked, so maybe I'm hooked up again. If not, I'll run through those instructions, Floyd. To my surprise, I understood almost all of what you said. I am going to clean out my browser cache for sure, I do that about once a month anyway.

I'm just getting sick of TVLand. They keep running those lame movies, over and over, until they just beat your ears down with them. I change the channel the instant one of them comes on. If Dish Network is doing any sort of monitoring, they sure do know that I'm not watching TVLand's sorry movies. Now I love real, genuine old movies - the old classics. These pitiful things they're shoving off on us are worthless, and I wouldn't watch them on a bet. On the outside chance that I would watch one now and then, I'd only do it once. Why do they insist on running them over and over, all week long?? Stupid.

My son is back in the hospital, kidneys not functioning well. His liver is a wee tad better, so that's good. Now the kidneys are scaring us to death. Please keep praying for him.

Well, gotta go cuddle little Starr. She's just the sweetest little thing, perfect textbook Maltese disposition. Playful, affectionate, not too timid, and sweet to the core. When we go to bed, she waits for me to get settled and extend my left arm, and then she tucks in beside me, usually flat on her back, with her little head resting on my arm, right at the shoulder. Sometimes she's on her left side, with her little back up against me. Either way, she's asleep in seconds. It's the sweetest thing you can imagine. The Plum was a bedtime cuddler too, I guess it's just a breed trait. Starr is an equal-opportunity cuddler, too. Visitors get a full dose, with her hopping into their lap and insisting on being petted. No one has refused yet!

Be blessed, friends. --Romeena

CARING
Those who believe you must be "kin" to care,
Are really missing a lot.
For we are related in this world,
Whether we like it or not.
In life, there are two choices:
To be as caring as we can-
Or we can ignore te world outside,
Turning our backs on man.
Whatever we decide for ourselves
Is strictly our decision to make.
But sooner or later, we all learn
It is better to give than to take.

Spot it's going to warm up some this week .

And I had such thoughtful and interesting posts, too; now I just plain forgot what I said. I'll sum it up and just say, Prayers for everyone.
- Hazel

Oh, # 59876, you asked what it meant when they said "take a lock". They actually said "Tick a Lock". It's an expression which means something like "Let's not say anymore about it!". Or, "hush!".
Aunt Bee: "Silence is my game, Mums my name. Tick a lock!"

January 27, 2008 - Msg 59883: Yippee! It worked! Guess the steps finally got fixed. Hope they don't fall through again, but if they do, we'll just wait and they'll be repaired soon. You're right, Tom, I think we have termites.

To #59876 - They're not saying "take a lock", they're saying "tick-a-lock", the imaginary sound of a lock clicking shut, and meaning that their lips are sealed, locked, nothing more will be said. --Romeena

January 27, 2008 - Msg 59884: Oops, sorry, Hazel. Didn't see you there, you must have come in while I wasn't looking. Didn't mean to be copying what you said.

Interesting, that "tick-a-lock" thing. You're right, it can mean "Hush" - usually the way Barney used it, silencing Andy. It also meant "I'm not talking, you won't get any more out of me." I can remember using that phrase as a kid, playing with my cousins. Did anyone else use it?

Wow, it's good to have the porch back. Like Hazel, I wrote several posts over the past few days, only to have them refused when I tried to post. Mercy, what a loss to posterity! (heehee)

My son is still in the hospital, haven't heard any reports yet today, but there was some slight improvement yesterday. Please keep praying.

Be blessed, friends. --Romeena

January 27, 2008 - Msg 59885: Ha! Interesting! My first post above went through and appeared just like always. Then I tried again, with #59884, and it wouldn't go. January 27, 2008 - Msg 59891:
Boo, my interest in oregano started 7 years ago before I was on the porch. I would come down with everything that every resident got at my mother's nursing home. One day I heard about it on the radio and decided to try it, because, after all, it's a seasoning for pete's sake, so I figured it couldnt hurt! Well, it worked! That's why I take one capsule everyday, cuz it does keep up the immune system all year thru all the seasons whilst you're in crowded places etc.
It is called Oregamax, and if you google it, you will see that you can also get it on line. The only side effect so far is that no matter what we have for supper, I always say, "Mama Mia, thatsa onea spicy meata balla!" haha
It's raining here today and I'm lovin' it!!

January 28, 2008 - Msg 59900: Hey Y'all!
How is everyone this fine Monday morning? It's sunny and chilly in Hotlanta. I had Bryson home a bit this morning. He was tired because he stayed the night with his friend on Saturday night and hadn't recovered. When he refused to go to sleep I took him to school late. It's hard because he needs his friends and he's highly social, but when it comes to affecting school I will NIP IT IN THE BUD (sleepovers) quick.
Romeena- I'm so sorry to hear of your son's illness. Prayers for a speedy and long lasting recovery. Also, that his family will be able to have strength and peace!
Boo- Sorry to hear about your kiddos. If it ain't one thing it's another with kids. I hope they get better soon.
Spot- Thank you for the poem. Are you able to stay warm? Thank you for the thoughts on my tooth. It's still sore because they weren't able to finish last week. They did a temporary fix, and will hopefully get it finished on Friday. Tylenol has been my best friend lately.
Des- It seems the cost of everything has gone up so much. Our gas is near $3! Mr Lucy went grocery shopping yesterday and was shocked at the price of eggs and milk.
MDC- I'm glad the oregomax works well for you. I put some on my tooth the other day and it was definitely pungent.
Homemaker- You're right, God is Good.
Rev- Are you out on tour right now?
Poor Horatio- How are you? Haven't heard from you in awhile.
Auh20- How are your girls? By spring are they just plum sick of snow?
Floyd- Thank you so much for your hard work and God given smarts for our porch!
Hazel- Did you go into Porch detox? Isn't it great to know that there is a constant here? How's your husband?
Possum- What is it again that you do for a career?
Sterling- How's little Kai doing? I often think of you and your situation. Let us know if there's anything we can do.
New Neighbor & Asa- How are y'all related?
Hey to MW, Goober, Dr P, and all Porch Friends. I need to get some work done. Y'all have a wonderfully blessed day!

January 28, 2008 - Msg 59906: Good afternoon porch! Just stopping by for a minute.

Working as usual. Looks like the porch has been busy the past few days.

Prayers for Romeena's son and Boo's kids, as well as everyone else.

Busy week end.. I had to take my Mom to the ER on Saturday. Turned out she had a kidney stone. She was having terrible pain in her lower abdomen and nausea. She is 77 and had triple bypass and her mitro valve repaired about 7 years ago and has had problems with kidney stones in the past. Just to be on the safe side we went to have her checked out. We were there about 4 hours and after running a lot of tests, they determined she had a kidney stone. I guess 4 hours is not too bad but we spent much of the time waiting on them to do one thing or the other. She went home with me and stayed Saturday night but is back home and doing okay. She must of passed the stone because all her pain and nausea are gone. She is on antibiotics for 10 days. Keep her in your prayers please. It is petty much up to me to make sure she is taken care of when she needs something and I do worry about her. My Dad died when I was 11 so she lives alone now. My brother is not a lot of help so me and my husband and kids keep up with her. She is very independent and does well most of the time.

Guess I had better get back to work.

Big Maude

January 28, 2008 - Msg 59907: Hey, everybody! Big Maude, prayers for your mom, and for you. I know what it's like, looking after aging parents, it can be tough at times.

Boo, I declare, it seems like those two kids just can't get healthy! If it ain't one thing, it's another. Hope you can get them both on their feet soon.

There was some slight improvement in my son's condition as of this morning, so am very hopeful. I'll just be glad when this nightmare is over, and he's back to his old self.

Well! Has anyone else given any thought to the Mayberry Cruise in November?? If not, then please do! You'll find the link on the Mayberry home page. I checked it out, the prices are great, and judging by the pictures from the previous two trips, it looks like a whole lot of fun. So, I called Eloise, she wants to go, and our reservations are made, deposit will be mailed tomorrow, and we're going!! The young lady who is the ramrod for the thing, Sharon, is just a delight to talk to, and sounds like she's a lot of fun. Floyd, are you going again this year? I saw you giving haircuts in the pictures from the other trips. I'm really excited about this, and hope a lot of porchsters can go.

Well, that's about all I know for now. Let's see if I can get this to post. Starr says howdy! --Romeena

January 28, 2008 - Msg 59908: This is a test. This is only a test. Please do not panic.

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59913: Good morning everyone. I hope that you all are doing well. Glad to hear the younguns are doing better, BOO. Prayers fro BIG MAUDE's mom. Continued prayers for ROMEENA's son. How's Mr. HAZEL doing?

Sorry, "Mysterious Poster," I haven't the fogiest, but welcome anyway! Speaking of returning, I wish we'd hear from AUH2O, AFD, MAVIS, IDELLE, GOOBER, HORATIO, and a bunch of others. I think REV's disappeared, too.

I won't be taking any cruises this year, ROMEENA, though it sounds neat. Take lots of pictures for us!

Hey, STERLING, did you get the e-mail that ROMEENA forwarded from me?

Funnny story: yesterday the Mrs. hear the kids gazoo, and knew that Veda and Chad were napping so went to investigate. She walked in the living room and Mazy (our dog) was up on the window. She turned around to face the Mrs. and there was the gazoo, stick out of her mouth. It was the funniest sight. Those cats drive her crazy.

Not so funny is that Mazy loves playing with sticks outside. Well, when she can't find one she does the next best thing--she breaks it off from somewhere. I knew she had pretty much decimated a climbing hydrangea, but I discovered Saturday that she has all but ruined the grapevine. I thought the Mrs. was going to blow her stack. She waited for five years to get a crop and finally did last year. I hope that it will bounce back okay. Or the Mrs. may bounce the dog. In the meantime, I've put wire fencing around vulnerable shrubs and such until spring.

See y'all at lunch. Who's cooking?

BOO: Need shorts...INCOMING!

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59914: Hey everyone. I just can't seem to get here! I've followed instructions by FLOYD. What's weird is that I can NEVER get on the porch in the evening! This is really frustrating! Maybe FLOYD could contact the server provider? I just don't know what else to do.

Anyway, hope everyone is well. Miss chatting with you all! RO, that cruise sounds like so much fun. I've never heard of it! Hope you have a great time. November seems like years away, doesn't it??

BOO, how are the kids? Hope they're getting well. I actually feel lucky if I can get through a week of school without my daughter coming down with something.

LUCY, hope your mouth is feeling better. That sounds miserable!

Well, continued prayers for all those who are needing them! Have a great day--I'll TRY to be back later. Wish me luck. MW

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59915: Morning all, Happy Tuesday. working today, wish I could figure out a way to earn a living without having to work!

Lunch will be at Olive Garden. see you there.

Blessings and prayers to all!!

It's just to frustrating and life has to many frustrations in it to go seeking more. So until things get to working I probably won't see much of you good people. Just thought I'd mention it so no one gets to fretting if I'm not around much.

Asa

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59919: FYI to ASA and all others: I, too, was having the same problem the last couple of days. However, I don't seem to be having it today so perhaps FLOYD has taken a whack at them spiders.

Gld everyone is doing good, prayers for those that need them. Big Maude thanks for the spaghetti, what was that spice you put in there, or is it a "secret" ingredient? teehee
Hate to stop by, & run back out so fast, but got lots to do tonight, the last 2 days in my grooming shop have been crazy & I'm getting behind on other stuff here at the house. I got a schedule all worked out to get things done that need to be done & all it takes is one client being late to mess it all up. Oh well, what am I gonna do??
Prayers...
*Mavis

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59930: Dadburn it! Had a post all ready to go, mashed the post button & got an "error 404" page! I hate when that happens.
I was trying to guess in the game, is that you Nice, Real Nice Mary Grace after all this time?
*Mavis

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59931: Well, it worked that time, Tom wonder if that Texas UFO made it all the way to Tennessee & that's why I'm having problems? I bet it's that pair of shorts with the yellow smiley faces all over them that M-T keeps chucking around the place. ;)
*Mavis

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59932: Hello Porch Family:

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59935: Good Heavens. This has become such an ordeal. I agree with Asa; just too frustrating to try to get on here. Hopefully, this will post. You never know. Once you mash down on that "Post Your Comments" button, it's a gamble. And I seem to be losing more than I'm winning lately. I hope you're right, Floyd, and the problem is fixed. I miss my porch. Thanks for all your efforts to help us.
I'll post more later, once I see if this actually "takes".
You know what they say. "Once burnt is a lesson learnt."

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59938: Woohooo!! I got on. Now let's see if this will post. --Romeena

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59939: Hey Yall its me SHAZAM glad to be back on the porch. I have missed you all so much. Hello Horatio, Floyd, Tom, Romeena, and everyone. What have I missed the last five months. Had to save up for another computer. Hope you remember me as I remembered you.

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59940: I guess I will check out the archives and see what's been happening. Will check back before bed. Much love to you and yours from Douglasville.

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59941: Glory be! Looks like Prince Floyd whupped up on those server people and got the problem fixed. Just proves, it's not only what you know that counts, but who you know. He must have hollered at the right one this time, though it's hard to imagine Floyd hollering at anyone, except himself. You know how he hollers at himself in the looking glass sometimes.

Mercy, Tom, I hope it's not homemaker's meatballs flying around. If one of those things hits somebody in the head, it could be tragic! I think I'd rather take my chances with a UFO.

My son was discharged from the hospital again, and is home now. He's got a long recovery ahead of him, and we're praying he won't have to go back in the hospital, but for now, he's at home. I can only imagine how ecstatic his dog was to see him, and how happy he was to see her. To be able to walk over his property, watch a sunset from the dock down on the lake, sleep in his own bed - Thank you, Lord!

Well, gotta go give little Starr a bath. She's looking a bit grubby. Puppies just naturally get dirtier than older dogs, like children get dirtier than grownups, I guess. She's forever crawling under something, or behind something and probably meeting some pretty ferocious dust bunnies. She likes to get a piece of newspaper and "dig" on it, so her front feet get gray and grubby-looking. She chews on her toys, gets them all slobbery and then her face gets the same way, and dries with crispy whiskers - well, she just needs a bath. Like all Maltese though, she doesn't smell bad. They just don't develop a "doggy" odor, thank heaven. Grub and all, she's still awfully sweet.

Be blessed, everyone! --Romeena

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59942: I don't mean to be obtuse, but 59939 and 59940, we're happy you're back, since you're obviously an old friend, but it's so dark here on the porch and I can't see your face. Can you identify yourself, or give us another hint? --Romeena

January 29, 2008 - Msg 59943: I'm back, and I wish you could see how beautiful my baby is. She has a very lovely coat, snow white and silky, thick enough but not so thick as to appear bushy. Also, it's straight, which is a desirable trait in a Maltese. She's still so tiny, only 4 lbs, but she's all there and it all works. Her eyes are big and dark, with fine black rims, and her nose is jet black, so the three "points" of black that a Maltese should have are present. I do believe she's going to be as pretty as the Plum was, just a lot smaller. In the Maltese world, small is good, so that's okay. Her little body is sturdy and compact, straight topline, and she stands foursquare, just as she should. Her one fault is her little overbite, but I don't care. The Plum had a little underbite, which I loved and still prefer, but it doesn't matter. Starr will never see a show ring, that wasn't the point when I got her. I got her as a companion, and she's doing very well in that role. Above all, she has the very sweet and loving disposition of a Maltese, and that's what I wanted most of all.

Do you get the feeling that I'm enjoying this baby? Well, you're right! Be blessed! --Romeena

January 30, 2008 - Msg 59944: ROMEENA -M-T tell me to stop saiding that the U F O was his short flying , so I said it was HM meatball. boy no one can take a joke.
Spot are you at work tonight, because a bad storm is comming and the light may go out from all wind.

LOVE TOM

January 30, 2008 - Msg 59945: Tom, my friend, we're all joking. No one is serious, we're all just kidding. No offense intended at all. --Romeena
