Merri - so sad to hear of the loss of that deputy, it just breaks my heart. Prayers for his family. Folks - pray also for the volunteer firefighter who was in the other vehicle in that wreck and who is in the hospital with back injuries. I'm sure it must be tough on him both physically and mentally right now.

Well, folks, just a quick rock tonight. Love you all!
AFD

October 09, 2007 - Msg 56784: AFD, you're absolutely right, we need to pray for the volunteer firefighter as well. I'm sure his mental anguish will be just as great as his physical. As I was picking up my little one from school today, I passed the funeral home where the Deputy's visitation was to be held and officers were starting to gather. I just wanted to hug them all. It's so hard for them to lose a comrade in uniform.

Anyway, SPOT, if I'm running a little behind in the morning, can you go ahead and order me a pecan waffle and a cup of coffee? Their waffles are the best, I guess that's why they call it "Waffle House!"

Good night all--many blessings. --Merri W.

Well, Jill dropped Layla off this morning and she is still asleep. When Jill got here she was visibly upset about something and told me that her husband was drunk last night and beat her up. I took a good look at her in the light and really didn't see anything except for some parks on her throat that she said was due to him choking her. I am washing the shirt she was wearing and it does look like it had some blood stains, possibly. She said he made her nose bleed. Anyway, I gave her the big lecture again about the baby's safety and what she needed to do. CPS Was notified the last time something like this happened but nothing was done. Jill tells me that she is going to file a restraining order but she dropped the charges last time, so who knows. She is refusing to leave the apartment and go to a Christian shelter with the baby. It seems she is holding out for some guy who is supposedly in the navy and coming home in 2 weeks. She is planning on moving him in with her, I think! There is no reasoning with that girl. I want to wash my hands of it but now I have the baby to think of. I have emailed my pastor and both deacons (Bruce and Keith) and am waiting for their advice. I am asking the Lord to show us what to do. The baby is sleeping in by room, wearing the same outfit she had on all day yesterday and reeking of cigarette smoke. A couple of times she has cried out in her sleep and I have had to comfort her. It's not a normal cry for a child her age. It sounds very frightened. Please continue to pray for us today.

Me-They, what's the upper age limit on your tolerance of baby feet? I've nibbled a few baby toes that were a bit steamy and sweaty, and had little wads of blanket fuzz caught between them. Are those still okay?

Tom is okay, he's just taking a little time off. He very kindly sent me a quick email, so we wouldn't be worried about him. Very considerate!

All you people and your Latin. I speak some Spanish, but Latin it ain't. I'm sadly ignorant of that subject, I guess because I never studied it. I have something of an affinity for language, and words and their origins fascinate me, so I might have done well in Latin if I had explored it. We'll never know, will we?

Well, I feel like an old horse that's been "rode hard and put up wet", and I'm headed for my bed. As I said, last night was a long one. Have a great day, friends. --Romeena

October 09, 2007 - Msg 56809: Y'all, Laci (my grandchild) is being admitted to hospital with RSV. She has been sick for several days & we just found out she has it-again. Her doctor would NOT give her the RSV shot last year because she was over age 3.She got RSV-was very, very ill before Christmas,if y'all remember. My daughter BEGGED for the RSV shot several times this year-doctor said"She's too old,she won't get it again." Well, she got it and that baby is in MUSC now for no reason other than the dr's stupidity. We are BEYOND angry. She WILL be sued.

Please keep Laci in your prayers. She's been through so much and this could have been Prevented! If there's any good thing,it's that the RSV is milder this time. She'll be in MUSC till it runs it's course-usually several days. I need to keep the phone line open,so won't be on computer much. I'll check in tomorrow & update everyone. This is so unfair and uncalled for. RSV is a virus that affects preemies, which Laci is.She'll always be a preemie-whether she's under age 3 or how old. October 10, 2007 - Msg 56821: Good evening, all. It's very late, but I came in from work this morning, fell into bed and slept for several hours, so naturally, am not particularly sleepy tonight. I live in an upside-down world, I guess, sort of like perpetual jet lag.

Rev, are you talking about the green tomato relish? It's wonderful with fried catfish, and you did give me yours. Oh my, what fun that lunch was. Good food and good company, what more could one ask? While you and Mrs. Rev are at the fair, you just must have an ear of roasted corn, and send one to me. Maybe you could fax it? The way they prepare it in that big old revolving roaster thing, it's just pure heaven. I don't want anything on mine, I just peel that shuck back and start eating!

Possum, I think you had every right to panic and to be upset, especially since they DID tell you she had RSV. I disagree with them, saying she no longer needs it. She does so, age has nothing to do with it. Physical maturity is key, and since she's delayed due to her premature birth, she deserves every helping boost she can get. Stand your ground.

Boo, God does not overlook your efforts. You may not get to see the end result of some of the things you do, but no deed done in His name goes unrewarded, and the effects are felt by those involved, whether you get to see it or not. My husband always made a point of recognizing and praising little children, especially those who were less attractive, or very shy. He would spy a little girl who perhaps wasn't as pretty as the other children, and would key on her best feature and make much of it. He'd tell her how pretty her eyes were, or what beautiful hair she had, or if everything else failed, he'd tell her she had the prettiest smile he'd ever seen. The child would invariably just glow, and stand a little straighter. He said he hoped those compliments would plant a seed of higher self-esteem that would stay with the child. For some, his words may have been the first compliment they ever got. So, the things you're doing for the children around you will stay with them, and foster good things in their hearts, whether you ever get to see it or not.

Well, I'm off to bed. Oh, I get to puppy-sit with a friend's little Maltese, Oh!Reilly, on Friday and Saturday. That should be fun. He's a tiny boy, about five pounds of boundless energy and self-importance. I'm looking forward to it.

Blessings, everyone! --Romeena

October 10, 2007 - Msg 56822: Oh, I almost forgot. Opiemom, once again something my husband said comes to mind. I remember many years ago when a person was put in a position of responsibility in the church we attended at the time, and a friend of ours was disappointed that "God didn't choose me for the job". My husband told him that perhaps God wasn't choosing the person for the job, but rather was giving the job to the person, for a reason. Maybe there was something He wanted that person to learn, and the job would teach it. Just a thought.... --Romeena

October 10, 2007 - Msg 56823: Thank you, Ro, for sharing Dale's wisdom with us. He is one person I look so forward to meeting in the next life. I needed that encouragement. I feel very torn sometimes about what to do in this situation. I took the baby home to her mother last night after she got off work and I am hoping all was well last night. Jill saw her husband yesterday in town with another girl so I am hoping that will keep him occupied enough to keep him away from Jill for a day or two. I expect the other girl has been waiting in the wings for Jill to give him the boot. I am going to take Jill to fill out the papers for the restraining order, etc. today and CPS will be notified of the situation. I am also going to talk to her about getting public housing and daycare. Prayers, please. I have been so upset with Jill that I have been pretty negative with her. Maybe I need to try and find a way to build her up and encourage her. I am very glad she passed her GED but wow, what other obstacles she has! Of course Bruce is discouraging me from getting involved besides calling CPS. He doesn't trust Jill and thinks she may be dishonest and trying to gain my sympathy. He could have a point there, she has been dishonest in the past. I'll keep you all posted...

Bible study at the drug rehab last night was great! My friend Keith brought his daughter, who is a pastor's wife. She gave her life testimony to the girls and it was powerful. She was a drug user and alcohol abuser from age 13 until her early 20's. She talked to the girls about how the Lord delivered her from those things and it was just what those girls needed to hear. After the meeting, we had one girl wander in who had not been there before and the poor child was so troubled. She said she wants to stay clean and live a better life but she is terrified because she has never known anything else in life. She is afraid to give up the only crutch she knows of to dull her pain. Keith and I talked to her about how God loved her and what he did for her through Jesus but she told us she wasn't ready to make that decision to follow him yet. She did tell us that she would think about what we talked to her about this week and come to bible study next Tuesday. Please remember to pray for Christina. She was just so pitiful and afraid.

I want to thank all of you again for your many prayers for me. I need them and you are so very gracious to pray. I love you all.

Possum, so sorry that little Laci is sick again, bless her heart. I will pray for her to get well soon. Give her a kiss for all of us.

October 10, 2007 - Msg 56824: It seems Laci has pneumonia-not sure whether it is bacterial, viral or aspiration. Yesterday's chest xray had ruled it out,but she did have some type of spot in one lung that drs. thought was just mucus. She got so dehydrated that perhaps the pneumonia didn't show up-that's what the very competent dr.(hooray for him!) who finally came in last night said. Laci's care was terrible yesterday- no IV fluids, she wouldn't drink, nurse didn't check her temp since 4pm and she wasn't given anything for fever. They just let her lie there lethargic and burn up & dehydrate.I've dealt with that nurse last year-he is a do-nothing who basically walks the halls. It's like pulling teeth to get him to do anything. I think the only doctors who checked on her were docs in training.Thank God someone with some sense showed up last night! He told my daughter to "raise cain" with that nurse & demand he check her temp, etc.Doctor said they did NOT want him to go out and speak to the nurse! Doctor was beyond mad! My daughter took care of things (you go girl!) and thankfully the shift changed and Brian the incompetent nurse went home. I called to check on Laci a few minutes ago- fever is down, she went for a new chest x-ray,she was sitting up in bed trying to take her clothes off,so she seems to have perked up!Once they get a handle on what they are dealing with, perhaps she'll be home before long.I feel better just having a diagnosis of sorts-it was awful worrying & wondering last night.I had all sorts of thoughts-thank goodness it's not her heart. Her heart's just reacting to all of the stress and breathing meds. I will check on her again & might go down to hospital later-depends what's going on.

Thank y'all so much for the prayers.I know we kept God busy last night, but somehow I've got the feeling He didn't mind one bit! Love to all.

October 10, 2007 - Msg 56825: I feel for you, Possum. That's just terrible about that nurse. It's bad enough your family has to deal with the stress of a sick child, but it makes it ten times worse when you also have to deal with a caregiver who doesn't care. I pray God brings in a competent, compassionate caregiver for the remainder of Laci's stay. And also that she will be out and well soon.

October 10, 2007 - Msg 56826: Possum, as a nurse I have a couple of things to say. First of all, I can't believe the dr didn't say something to the nurse himself. If Laci is one of his patients, he is responsible for being sure she gets the care she needs if he knows that the nurse is below standard, he should do something. Secondly, the nurse needs to be held accountable. If I were you, I would ask to see the Director of Nursing and let him/her know what happened. Don't go to the charge nurse, but to the director personally with your complaints. Someone needs to follow up because sub-standard care could cost someone's child his or her life. The pediatric unit is the last place we need incompetance. I think it's great that you and your daughter are vocal about it and that your daughter did what needed to be done last night. Sounds like the dr dropped the ball, though. God bless you for being Laci's advocate. Continued prayers for her and you.

October 10, 2007 - Msg 56831: Laci DOES have pneumonia-not sure yet if it is bacterial or viral. Not aspiration, though. She'll be in MUSC a day or so longer,we expect. Still running a low grade fever, and her oxygen level isn't where they want it yet,so they are keeping her on oxygen. She won't go home until that levels out and no sign of fever.

Laci's mom (my daughter)just came home to get a few things and stopped by my house to update me before heading back to Charleston.I misunderstood about the doctor,Boo. He DID read the riot act to that nurse, plus he wrote him up! He then told my daughter to go chew him out-I got it mixed up somehow. This was all relayed to me by phone & my mind was whirling with worry and such. He also gave my daughter a complaint form to take to the Director of Nursing. Her office is right across the hall from Laci's room! Sorry I didn't have all the facts correct.

That nurse couldn't even run the EKG on Laci yesterday! He tried to put the leads on her back and feet. Laci's mom is a certified EKG Tech and literally snatched the wires away from him and did the EKG herself! The doctor was very impressed with her knowledge and has talked to her about some sort of scholarship/work program they have at MUSC that he'd like to offer her. She hasn't been able to find a job in her field for over a year now,so maybe something positive for her will come out of all this incompetence! She wants to continue her studies and become a pediatric nurse-very smart girl,if I may brag a little! MUSC is a wonderful hospital, the children's hospital is ranked 9th in the nation. Overall, the nurses are fantastic. There's always one though, doesn't it seem?

Merri, hope your baby improves.Also,Me-They's little boy.And Boo,I'm still praying for good things for Karen's grandbaby.Thank you for your advice concerning the "bad" nurse. My daughter is going to talk to the Director very shortly.

Thanks again for the prayers.Laci is a lot better today and hopefully will shake this off and be home soon.Y'all are the cats!

October 10, 2007 - Msg 56832: Thanks, POSSUM. Boy, we do have some gaurdian angels on this here porch, don't we? Tell you the truth, I wouldn't want to be the father/nurse/anyone else crossing you or BOO. Praise the Lord for women like you.

Chad is feeling better today and went to school. However, I just got a call from the Mrs. and both daughters are now running fevers. It's odd for Nora; she rarely gets sick. Keep them in your prayers. In fact, why don't we all set aside a little time tonight and say a special prayers for all the kids out there, especially the ones who don't usually have anyone praying for them.

Talk to y'all tomorrow.

October 10, 2007 - Msg 56833: Afternoon Porch Family:
Just wanted to check in and add my prayers for all the little ones. "All things work together..."
Just wanted to add my "little" neighbette to the prayer list. She is scheduled for an untrasound on legs tomorrow. After standing 2 or more minutes, they turn colors, go to spotted and cold. They then tingle and go numb. The Dr.s are wondering if there is a narrowing of the arteries, or if there is a pinched nerve in her hip area. (rough basketball & sports.) Thanks from this porch! I'll keep ya posted. ~New Neighbor
Oh, by the way...fresh apple dumplings hot out of the oven! Grab a bowl and scoop some fresh made icecream on top!!!

M-They- could be that "change of weather" time of year gettin everyone sick. Now that the evenings are "cooler" here, like 75, I take walks and pray as i walk. I'll send some good ones up this evening too at Prayer Meeting that i am starting to attend again. Prayers for all of you and yours.
Also, APB FOR POOR HORATIO. Hope he is doing ok.
Prayers too for our troops, leaders etc.

October 10, 2007 - Msg 56835: Well, drat! I had a post all ready to go, then switched over to something else for a minute, and forgot and closed out instead of using the back button, and lost it all. Doofus.

Possum, I'm glad that doc followed up with that nurse. That will carry a lot more weight than a complaint from an anxious mother. The nurse needs a reprimand, perhaps some remedial training, and perhaps even termination. There is no excuse for such behavior. I'm happy that Laci is doing better, in spite of the nurse's lack of attention.

We got the biopsy results back on the spots removed from Brittney's abdomen, and they are BENIGN! Praise the Lord - He is good, all the time.

I think all the checks are in, so tomorrow I'll be sending the check off to the church in Millie's memory. If anyone else wishes to participate, just drop me an email and tell me how much, I'll put it in, and catch your check when it arrives.

New Neighbor, your little neighbette has done well to seek help. That sounds like a potentially serious situation. Let us know how it turns out, please.

Well, I see a sluggish fountain in the pond, must need a filter cleaning. Have a great evening, everyone. --Romeena

October 10, 2007 - Msg 56838: Hello all y'all porch folks!

I've not been able to post recently but do keep up with the doings on the porch and my prayers have been raising you all up. Romeena, so glad about Brittney. And prayers for all the wee bairns, especially Laci, Layla and Chad.

Boo, I worked for domestice abuse victims last year in a legal clinic program and would be glad to talk to you privately via email about what Jill can expect as she goes forward. Just say the word and I'll post my email address. Domestic abuse runs in a cycle and I truly, truly hope Jill is ready to get out of the cycle and not just at the bottom of a cycle. Please let me know if I can be of help and keep your spirits up -it is very hard being a witness to domestic abuse.

I started the new job but have not found a place to live for a number of reasons, which means I am commuting 110 miles each way every day. I don't know who is going to give out first, me or my old car. Actually the 1.5 hour drive in the morning and the evening is in a way a luxury because it gives me uninterrupted time for prayer and I get to see the sun rise and the sun set over the prarie each day. I am not sure what I'll do when the weather gets bad. But at least Iam employed at last.

I hope you are all able to enjoy the fall. Somebody make some pumpkin bars for lunch tomorrow.

Hello porch family....So many prayer needs but that's what God would have us to do for each other. Thank God for this porch!

Ro....yep...that green tomato stuff was what I was trying to think of. Thanks! I will send you a fair roasted corn.
The more you talk about your beloved husband Dale, I sure wish I could have met him. One day I will.

Boo...I sure do thank God for your ministry. I know those young girls lives are being transformed for Jesus!

Merri....Praying for your little one.

Possum...praise God that Laci is doing better. Still praying. As you said, just because one nurse is bad, MUSC is a good hospital. They really treated me super when I had throat surgery some years ago.

M-T...I agree....let's pray for all the little ones tonight.

New N..... fresh apple dumplings & homemade ice cream.....yum yum!

Ro....thank You Lord that Brittney's biopsy came back benign. Yes, God is good!

Belle....so good to see you back.

Spot....have you left yet?

Supose to cool down here this weekend. It's been in the 90s for the last two days but by weekend, highs in the mid 70s and down to the mid 40s at night. A chill in the air coming soon.

Well better get ready for bed. Prayers for all the porch family. Remember Jesus loves you!

October 10, 2007 - Msg 56843: Hey, all. Be aware - there's a new email rumor circulating. It contains pictures of a small boy with awful burned-looking areas on his cheeks, chin and forearms. His mother reports that they are chemical burns which he got when he was using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, or possibly a 3M eraser to remove crayon marks from a wall. She goes on to say that when she called Poison Control they told her that the sponges should be recalled, as they are strongly base and cause alkaline burns. They then went on to instruct her to wash the "burns" for twenty minutes, which she did, and the child quit crying, but started again when she removed him from the water. Well, yes, I would imagine so. A badly skinned knee will cause the same behavior. Cool water soothes, air drying hurts.

Looking at the pictures, it's obvious that the "burns" are actually abrasions - the placement makes it obvious that the kid was trying to erase marks he had made on himself. Also, if it was chemical burns, why weren't his fingers burned, since he would presumably have been holding the sponges?? For the story, go to Truthorfiction.com and search for "Magic Eraser". Good grief. Those two companies are going to be maligned for this, and it's all just panic over false information. Amazing.

Well, that's my rant for the evening. Thanks for the prayers for Brittney, everyone. Needless to say, we're all pretty happy right now. --Romeena

October 10, 2007 - Msg 56844: I just had an awful thought. While I do not believe that kid has chemical burns, the question arises - if they really ARE chemical in origin, then who did it? As I said, he didn't do it himself, or his own fingers would be burned as well. Hmmm. Perhaps his mother had better rethink her position and withdraw her complaint, before someone starts asking questions. --Romeena

October 11, 2007 - Msg 56845: Interesting, I certainly hope the poor child isn't being abused!

Speaking of children, I didn't have time yesterday to fill you in on the final results concerning Jill and her baby. Jill called me yesterday and told me that her drunken husband showed up at her house at 2am and they had another fight in which she gave him a black eye. My question is why she let him back into the apartment while the baby was there. Anyway, she called me from work telling me that he was still at the apartment and she wanted him out. I told her that if she wanted him out, she would have to go to the police, file charges for battery and they would take him to jail where he belongs (he is already on probation). Of course that didn't happen and her husband showed up at work and begged her to take him back. Instead of telling him to leave she listened and told him that if he changed...yada, yada, yada. I told her she was being stupid and that I couldn't help her anymore. She never contacted me about taking her to get the restraining order and that's that, except that I contacted the state about the baby after I talked to a local police officer about it. He told me that the chances that CPS would remove the child are very slim since there is no proof of physical abuse or neglect but that they would investigate it. There, I've done all I can do but pray. Thank you for your advice and many prayers. I can't keep going around in circles with this thing. I have too many other people in my life with deperate needs that I can do something to help.

Rev, thanks for those encourging words. Sometimes I just shake my head and wonder why God would allow ME to help Him in his work with those girls. I didn't do anything to deserve it and it certainly is a blessing. It is a real joy, as you know, to be able to share the gospel with people and disciple new believers. I see so much fruit coming from this particular ministry (not because of me, but other people behind the scenes that do so much). The woman who kind of heads-up the ministry is a real fireball named Diane. She never quits and always seems to make a way to get things that those girls need. She is constanly coming up with ways to bless them and people who work there. The facility is now allowing some of the girls to actually leave and go to church on Sunday, which is a big deal for a lock-down rehab. The employees have developed a trust for us and we are even developing freindships among those leaders. When I first started going out there on Tuesdays, the leaders seemed unfriendly and they never left our sight. Now, they are always so happy to see us come and they leave us alone with the girls instead of hovering all the time. I know they trust us and love having us there and it's great to feel that freedom to minister. They used to shut us down at exactly an hour after the meeting started, now they give us as much time as we need and we are able to meet with girls afterward who have questions or need prayer. Pretty great, I'll tell you.

Well, better be moving along and getting ready. Lots to do. We are leaving for Houston this afternoon for Sean's appointment and we will be discussing some medication changes. I would so appreciate prayer concerning those decision. Thank you!

Possum, how's Laci today?...and all you others with sick little ones?

October 11, 2007 - Msg 56847: It looks like Jill is just at the bottom of the cycle, as Belle talked about, Boo.
She's just lucky he didn't file charges against HER for the black eye, because he probably could have. Though men don't usually do that sort of thing.

Ro, I've used those "magic eraser" things with my bare hands and have never had any burns with them, so yeah, it could be someone trying to get some money from the company. And/or someone is trying to divert attention from some abuse happening. If they are abrasions, maybe someone was trying to "erase" their kid.

Hope Sean's appointment goes well, Boo.

October 11, 2007 - Msg 56848: Good morning everyone. It’s gotten a lot cooler here, too. It’ll probably top out at about 65 today.

Chad is a lot better; he’s just coughing a little bit. Nora and Veda are both still running fevers. Nora stayed home from school today. This is her first day absent from school since she started Kindergarten. Good thing she rarely gets sick, because she can get awfully whiny. I’m nothing like that ;).

ROMEENA: Praise the Lord about your DIL’s tests. Y’know, it’s so easy to praise Him when things turn out great. It’s much harder, but so important, to praise Him when they don’t.

BOO: You truly are a wonderful example of Christian love. Your faith must indeed be strong, because someone without much would not be able to deal so well with all that you seem to. You are not only an example to your family, those girls in rehab, and Karen’s kids, but also to us as well.

Right after college I was a civil clerk in the local county District Court. We handled domestic abuse filings. You would be surprised at how quickly, and how many times, abuse victims are willing to forgive. It's truly sad. We actually knew several of our frequent filers by their first names they were in so often. Then, they'd be in a few days later canceling the order. In some cases when the judge wouldn't allow it, they'd appear in court hearings on the abuser's behalf. You can lead a horse to water, but until it's thirsty, you can't make it drink. You've ceratinly done all you can at this point. I'm sure you'll be there when she's really ready to make a change.

AUH2O: Have you heard about the Congressional resolution regarding Turkey and the 1915 genocide of Armenians? It’s a tough one. I’d be interested to get your take on it.

The Mrs. had had great results doing Weight Watchers. She started in early June and became a lifetime member a few weeks ago since she reached her goal. She still wants to lose a few to get back to her pre-Nora weight. Since starting my medication a year and a half ago I have gained almost 20 lbs. That’s startling considering I’d gained only about 10 in previous 20 years. Until this danged medicine started slowing my metabolism, I had one that allowed me to eat just about anything. It’s no exaggeration to say that I ate a big bowl of ice cream (my weakness) maybe five nights a week and drank half a dozen Cokes (my other weakness) every day. Anyway, the Mrs. suggested that I try the points part of the WW, so I have. I’m doing pretty well and have been trying to get out of the office every afternoon for a quick mile walk. Not giving in to the cookies in the breakroom is killing me this morning.

By the way, I bring Chad in to preschool, which is right across the street from my work. We usually get here about a half hour early. This morning, he watched the pickle episode of TAGS on Tvland.com. It’s pretty cool. They have several episodes of Andy, “Leave it to Beaver,” and “Bonanza” that you can watch online.

There has been so much talk lately of the suffering of children, our own and so many others in this world. I can’t really explain how heavily it lies on my heart to think of children suffering. It seemed so foreign before I had kids of my own. Now, whenever I hear of a situation I can’t help but see in my mind my own precious kids in it. It fairly haunts me.

APB for POOR HORATIO, ASA, CHARLOTTE, DFW, BWB, MAVIS, IDELLE, TOM, GOOBER, HAZEL, and a bunch of others.

Well, I guess I’ll see y’all at lunch. How about Olive Garden on me? I should be okay if I stick to just one bread stick…

October 11, 2007 - Msg 56850: After rereading my post, I did not mean that forgiving is bad. It is not. We are told to forgive the unforgiveable, as Christ himself does. What I meant was it's sad that, in many cases, forgiveness means going back to an abuser. Offering forgiveness should not include allowing abuse.

October 11, 2007 - Msg 56851: Me-They ,, I did the points system on WW this past year. I agree with your Mrs. It really works and it gives me the freedom to eat what I like, just use portion control. Hard to do at times. I've given in a few too many times lately and put on 5 extra pounds. I need to get dilligent and get them off. Lately a lot of my eating has been emotional. I'm dealing with a severely depressed mother (who lives 3 hours away with my drug using brother) plus I'm learning how to deal with my own 3 adolescents. One of my adolescent sons is having a hard time adjusting to life. So I end up "deserving" a chocolate bar or 4 extra cookies. :-) I should just take the baby for a walk. Better for me on all accounts.

A beautiful fall day here. Finally we have temps int eh 70s. I put on pants and opened the windows.

I'll meet you at Olive Garden. I'll take a bowl of Minestrone and a salad.
