Supper tonight is London Broil, so moist and tende that it's thin slices melt in your mouth!
baked potatoes, baby peas, sweet tea and sugar cookies. I'll ring the big triangle when it's ready!
The Real McCoys - another good show!
You all know my favorite quote:

Mercy MDC. That is a dinner I will not be late for.
And I like your choice on The Real McCoys. I just love that show when the old TNN ran it a few years ago.
This one ain't so old but are there any Dallas lovers out there? Not the Cowboys but the show. I loved that dumb show and now I see the first season is out on DVD but I have not found it anywhere. Anyone know where I can purchase one?
October 28, 2004 - Msg 24658:
MDC..count me in for supper! I love London Broil..marinated all day or overnight in Italian Dressing, then grilled. Whenever my mama asked what I wanted, say if it were for my b-day, That was my request..with butterbeans and cheese potatoes! yum yum!!
October 28, 2004 - Msg 24659:
MDC.. The Real McCoys was a great show ,as well as green acres, petticoat junction ,the hillbillies
ASA.. i never watched Dallas very much ,but the did have some good looking ladies on the show
PIPEMAN.. the Hendrick cars are running at Atlanta ,life has to continue after even such a large loss as the Hendricks .There is to be a press conference Friday at Atlanta with the Hendrick drivers , if Rick Hendrick stays in racing after lossing his son and brother is not known yet ,but he has two teams in the top 5 in the points and a good chance of Jimmy Johnson winning the championship ,my guess is he wont do anything different until the end of the season ,if then .
October 28, 2004 - Msg 24660:
Asa: I loved Dallas...of course I was young then, but that was what I did on Friday nights with my mama..my sister was old enough to be going out, so mama and I stayed in and watched Dallas together. I wish those reruns would be on. There is a special on tomorrow night or Sat. night though.

Sorry to bust your bubble Asa,but me and Rev. Jr. ain't gonna fight! You see,he's an Irishter, and I'm an Irishster.. Ha! (ARE you an Irishster,Rev. Jr?) Actually I'm Swiss,English,German. Guess I COULD fight ya,but you're my pal,my bosom buddy!
How do you do,Mrs. Wiley? Glad the surgery is over for you.Hope you heal fast and feel better real soon.I saved a poptart for you. Throw it in the toaster and you'll have breakfast in the morning, compliments of lil' ole possum!
Romeena,I saw the Weekly Reader story also. The report said that in all the years that the kids have been voting, they have NEVER failed to predict the winner. Let's hope they're right again this year!
Well,guess I'd better go. Y'all have a good evening!

I know no one else out there is from VA..but is anyone familiar with car seat laws. In VA, a child must be in a rear facing seat until they are 1 and 20 lbs. I couldnt get in touch with anyone at the State Police Office. I want to turn mine baby around. I am sure it would be fine because she is the size..26lbs and probably 32 inches or so..but she wont be 1 year until Nov.10. Yea, Yea, I know, its just two weeks away, so go ahead and turn her around..but I'd just hate myself if anything were to happen and she werent in there legally the right way. (i've already been in one accident with them)
Someone let me know if you know any info on that.
October 28, 2004 - Msg 24664:
Hey Alyce I'm from VA, I'm in Bristol, but it has been so long since I had my young'un in a car seat, I really don't know. (he just turned 16)anyways, around these parts, you can ask those things of the local fire departments, they have all that at their disposal. Might work, (yeah, but it might not). Ya'll done good on the car color guessing, but RevJr you shoulda gone with your gut feeling, it's black with grey interior. My sister drives the yellow car, an RX8, same yellow as Tweety Bird. I'm gonna get some email read & check the Discovery Channel tv line up, I started watching a show last night on Alaskan King Crab Fishing & they didn't finish it, gotta see if it comes on again, or if I'm just gonna be left hanging. (((((((hugs))))))) to you fine folks.
October 28, 2004 - Msg 24665:
Thanks Mavis! I will probably just keep trying the police station on the phone tomorrow. We have a state trooper at church, but I cant get a hold of him either. I am probably just going to wait..whats two more weeks when she's been that way for almost 12 months already.
Anyone know of any good web sites that have helpful hints or ideas on paint schemes for the interior of a home? I am trying to get all that lined up for my new house.
October 28, 2004 - Msg 24666:
Hey to the porch. I won't chime in on the politics thing, since I'm not voting for W; but I'm sure you'll all still accept me on this porch as we've said over and over that we are very tolerate and accepting here. Glad you're back, Mrs. Wiley! How do you do?

I for one don't give one hoot who you vote for Hazel. I couldn't love you any less. I know what its like when people discriminate against you for your political views. I ususally just keep my views to myself (right or wrong it is my right to do so-although I am in no way offended by those who share their views).
Alyce, I think you should just bite the bullet and turn her around on Novemeber 10th. "What's yer hurry?". You have already waited this long, right? That way, you won't have any anxiety about it. I am learning to avoid anxiety any way I can (just a little advice from an older sister).
Sterling you are funny! You just talk all you want, ya hear?
I am going to look up Rev Marvin's BBQ site now...later!

Morning Porchters. It's Friday and it's snowing hard on my porch this morning. Mercy sakes, all our ski resorts are opening this weekend. Most have a solid base of 6 feet of snow already. I think our drought maybe over finally. LOL
Hey Hazel, you know you ain't got no problems with me on how you vote. It is the right of every American to vote his or her desires.
Hey Boo, did I tell you it was snowing and cold here this morning?
Possum, boy I was looking forward to a B.B.Q. moulage and everything.
Good to see you Mavis. I guess we were all wrong with the yellow.
Boo, did I mention it was snowing here?
Alyce, I would go to your local fire dept. They should be able to direct you in the correct way of doing it.
Homemaker, when is this Dalls special on? I had not heard about it.
Boo, guess what. It's snowing here!
October 29, 2004 - Msg 24673:
Hazel, God bless ya. I would not be offended in the least if you wanted to chime in with something other than support for W. I'm voting for him but I am under no allusion that I am voting for Abraham Lincoln. My brother, sister, niece, and nephew will more than cancel out my vote for W and I'll love them just the same.

Auh2o, this election has bothered me like no other because I know what kind of things are at stake and I struggle because I don't trust poiticians...not even W. I just have to hope for the best and PRAY.
Better go. I will probably be staying with my parents for a few days to help out so you may or may not hear from me for a few days. My poor dad is just so weak. He is having some renal insufficiency and I think it has made him anemic...I am still waiting for the reports to come back...takes forever!
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend....and Asa, we are expecting a nice cool front on Monday so I will survive...just 3 more days. Bye!

I don't know what the law is in VA, but I agree with Boo that you should just wait until the 10th, it's not that far away. I do understand you wanting to turn the seat around though. Hazel, like others have said, I'm just proud that you're voting. To paraphrase, I may disagree with how you vote, but I'll defend to the death your right to do it!
Would you all please pray for my DIL's mom, who is also my friend? She had a flu shot, wasn't feeling well, got dizzy and fell coming down a staircase, and broke her hip. She's very fit, an avid golfer, very active, and I'm sure will do fine, but this has really shaken her up.
Mavis, I wish I could bring the Plum to you. I keep her very clean, and combed out well, but a professional "makeover" would be so nice. BTW, do you know of anything that would encourage the "quick" in her toenails to retreat a bit? The pink goes 'way down in her nails, so even when they're clipped, they're still pretty long. She walks on carpet or smooth tile all the time - very rarely goes outdoors, so they don't get much natural wear.
Well, I think I'll go and try to rake up a few leaves. Asa, I can't imagine that you've got snow falling!! It's a bit cooler here than it is down at Boo's, but it's still very pleasant, at 79 degrees. I'm not ready for it yet, but in a few weeks, could you send some of that snow down here? That's not something we see very much of, and I just love it!

At our church Halloween nonsense is sort of taboo, but I wasn't raised that way and I still get a big kick out of haunted houses, etc. One of my kids is glow bowling tonight and the other went with friends (driven by parents) on a ghost trail, whatever that is. Can't wait till he gets home to find out! Take care everybody!

Will put the soapbox away now til after Tuesday!

Sorry you are feeling so badly, Alyce. Hope you are over the worst of it.
I put my mom in a wheelchair and my sister and I drug mom and dad down to the courthouse to vote today. Lots of folks around here are voting early to avoid the long lines on Tuesday. I'm glad I got it over with and I have been very pleased with the way folks down here have been turing out to vote already.
I decided to come home tonight after I put mom to bed. I missed my husband and wanted to sleep in my own bed. Ya'll wouldn't believe it but I actually forgot my husband's birthday yesterday! He came home early yesterday when I was getting ready to go to my dr's appoinment and when he walked in I just looked at him and said, "What are you doing here? Don't you know I have an appointment?". Poor baby had come home early because it was his birthday and I didn't even remember it. Shame on me! I'll have to make it extra special next year (that is, if I remember it! heehee).
Hey, I saw an old movie called The Day The Earth Stood Still (from the 50's) and a younger Aunt Bee was in it. I didn't even notice until my son yelled, "Hey, that's Aunt Bee!".

Ok, Asa, glad you're in! Tonight--Remshaw House. Be there or be square. Boo, you should be there--it's just natural for you on Halloween! Boo! Well, my son said the ghost trail thing was not so scary. A guy with a chainsaw jumped out at them or something. Glow bowling is a big deal around here. The bowling alley has lights sort of like the crystal balls the roller rinks used to have, regular lights are dim, this smoky mist fills the air, and they play loud music and bowl. It's from 10:00 to 11:30. Teeny-boppers 11-15 love it. It did look pretty fun. See ya'll tonight . I'll have to pop in before and after I chaperone the kids school dance. Our football team is in the playoffs today, but I don't know if we're going--it's cold and very windy.

Good Afternoon Porch Friends!
I hope every one is doing well today. It looks just gorgeous out my window, but man, is the wind blowing! All those beautiful leaves, whoosh!
It sure is going to be interesting to see what happens next Tuesday. Maybe we should have a contest guessing what DAY we will actually know who won! I am going to guess November 12th! I think it may take about 10 days to sort through it all! And I also figure that no matter who wins, about half the people will be glad!
My computer has been soooo naughty lately. I can only occasionally get on, and I am still trying to get a hold of someone I can trust to fix things. It has been more of a hassle than it's worth!
My little Opie has decided on Trick or Treating as a Knight in Shining Armor! (I hope one day he will appear that way to some young woman!) He only goes to a few neighbors homes, and then he goes to Grandma and Grandpa's so they can enjoy the day right along with him!
I may have to borrow that Ghost and Mister Chicken movie, sounds like a fun time around Halloween. Did anyone notice that To Kill A Mockingbird was on Thursday night? I love that movie, and it always reminds me of Boo, now! By the way Boo, it is in the 60's and sunny here today! Just beautiful! ;)
Happy Halloween eve!

Thanks alot Marry Wiggins! If my fist wasn't in Asa's mouth, I would hit you too (just kidding, of course)! Its still in the 90's here and humid (day 14). In fact, I just noticed that the kids across the street are soaking wet and playing with the water hose. I just shook my head and thought, 'How COULD this be happening at the end of October?!'. I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone, which is pretty fitting, I guess, considering Halloween and all. The poor kids around here will be too hot to wear their costumes. So yes, pipeman, I'm still dashing through the heat!
OK Charlotte, I'll meet you at the Remshaw House. I'll bring the caramel apples.
Hey Message #24708, WHAT?
Alyce, I did feel pretty bad about missing Bruce's birthday but he took it well. He just said it was okay. I am lucky because he bought himself a birthday present last week. He ordered a new scope for his rifle (yipee--guess you have to be a man to understand that).
Better go...got a family function to attend. My husband's brother eloped yesterday (he is 50) so we are meeting to congratulate him and his new wife, Mona. We like her alot. Later, Buddies!

Pretty savvy of old OBL to surface right now, just before our election, and try to tell us how to vote. Oh, he didn't name names, of course, but his implication was clear. Call off your bloodhound, and just maybe we'll leave you alone. Something like that. Ha! I hope we find him soon, and send him on his way to seek out his 72 dark-eyed maidens. Am I the only one who thinks that Islamic men are obsessed with s-x, and know that their countrymen are not to be trusted, so they shroud their women under tents, with little peepholes so they can see out? Why, their idea of heaven even includes the aforementioned 72 virgins. Personally, I believe God's heaven is going to transcend such as that. I'm sorry that OBL's wouldn't, if it existed, which of course it doesn't. Oh, one more thing. I wonder how much pork rind in a scattergun it would take to put his lights out?
Mercy, I sound awfully mean today, but I've had about enough of this nonsense. I'm all for racial profiling at the airport and anywhere else that would be appropriate. If it looks like a duck (read "terrorist") and it talks like a duck and it smells like a duck, it's very likely a duck.
Well, on that note, I think I'll go hunt up some supper. Maybe I'll have roast duck. Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

He just bought a scope not too long ago..(hmm, maybe that can be his Christmas, haha)
Speaking of gifts..MEN: What is a nice gift you guys would want, or have received for your anniversary?
I want to give my husband something special this year.

Hellloooo Porch Family:
Just running through to say Hi and that I wouldn't be caught out at the Remshaw place this year!! Asa nearly scared 10 years off my life~ (then again I could stand to loose a few years!) No comments ASA! All those noises and cobwebs... No thanks, I'll have the after party refreshments here at our house. The bondfire is burning and the marshmallows are ready to toast. Might even fix a pot of hot chocolate and warm some cider.
Good to read all the postings. Somethings never change, and that's good. ~New Neighbor

mmmmmmm.... New Neighbor I'm on my way over! Has everyone left for the Remshaw place? Look out for flying axes! :)
It's good to hear the porch in such a good mood! I love the jokes and one liners ya'll have been writing.
CT Thank you for your kind words. You have no idea how you have lifted my spirits. I've been having trouble w/ people that I thought were my friends this week and you made me feel good about myself again. Isn't it sad that other people have to bring someone down just b/c they can. Tsk, Tsk. OH! and to evryone on the porch :You're as young as you think you are :) !
Smiles! :) :) :) :) :) :) boo :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

On a note that is not related to Halloween - I encourage all of you to check out anysoldier.org and send a Christmas card or a small package to one of our fighting men stationed so far from home. Thanks!

Good Sabbath porch. So good to see you all.
Good to hear from you N.N. Been a while. Didn't recognise you with them years skeered off'n ya.
OK, It's me, homemaker and Alyce watching Dallas tonight. Are you joining us Hazel? Anyone else? I need to know how much food to cook.
I will check out that site homemaker. We are doing a Christmas gift drive at work for folks in Iraq. Makes ya feel good to do something for them.
Hope yer day is a good one.

What a nice way to think of the election results, Mary Wiggins! Very diplomatic.
Speaking of the election, if that myth is true that if the Redskins win in the game before the election then the incumbent will win the Presidency, then even though I am from Wisconsin I have to hope that the Packers lose today, since that is who they are playing. Sorry home team, but I have to wish that. For the good of the country.:)
ALyce, I would like an X-box. Yeah, I know, not very romantic for an anniversary, but then neither is a tool-box. ;)
October 31, 2004 - Msg 24724:
Asa - the Dallas show is NEXT Sunday nite - so you will have to wait until W is elected for a second time to enjoy this TEXAS show!
I'll bring some salsa and chips to go along with the popcorn -
We have Trick or Treating tonite - I have one detective that looks like Groucho Marx and one puppy dog. Nothing scary here! We only visit a few homes but boy do they load up well!
October 31, 2004 - Msg 24725:
Woo-Hoo, Ro! Do you feel better after getting all that off your chest...something tells me there's more to come...
Hazel, you KILL me! That line from the Remshaw episode is one of my all time favorite TAGS moments. The way Barney says, "Gomer...Gomer...Gome...."--hysterical. I'm so glad you posted it because I had forgotten about that one. Sometimes I can just picture you sitting there watching TAGS with your little notebook and pencil, jotting fown the good lines.
Alyce, my husband likes those nice Buck knives that you can get engraved and he recently bought himself a neat pen carved out of deer antler. Does your husband have a mosquito suit for hunting? I don't know if you need them where you live but they sell them here and they are pretty neat. An XBox is a nice gift. We won one a couple of years ago at a raffle for the school and my son and husband like playing it together..they also have a hunting game made for XBox that I am getting Bruce for Christmas.
I want all you nice, cool folks to know its in the 90's AGAIN today and no cloud cover, either. Hot, hot, hot. It sure doesn't feel like Halloween here in South Texas....now the Fourth Of July, maybe.
See ya at the Remshaw house. Don't forget The Golden Arm!

Afternoon Porch! Sterling after being a Redskins fan for lots of years, that has happened every election year since the team started. But right now, the dadgum Packers are winning, hope something turns around, for 2 reasons, I want Bush in there, and I'm a Redskins fan, always like it when they win. Alyce I have AOL instant messanger, my screenname is loghaulernflossi (my other half drives a log truck for a living) add me to your list, & holler at me. What is your s/n. I'm off to eBay, haven't even started Christmas shopping yet, not been much in the mood for Christmas, sure would like to skip the whole thing this year, but Mom wouldn't approve of that, so I am trying to come up with something new to do this year since Mom is gone & we need some fresh starts. I know I am going to get a special ornament just for Mom to add to the tree. Ya'll have a good time & act like somebody!

Sterling: Scratch the X box!! but thanks anyway!
Boo: Yes, Sam has a bug suit..the thing scared me the other day..I saw it sitting in the truck!
He has plenty of knives! I am not doing anything for hunting. I am planning on giving him a nice gift card to Bass Pro for Christmas. And the XBox is a big no no! We dont need anymore electronics to take away from family time! Besides..they cost too much...we're building a house ya know, haha!
Well I have been a real ill snake this afternoon, but with some prayer time, I've had a chance to see my faults and I just have some internal struggles to deal with.
See you guys later..

Mavis, keep coming back, you're doin' good.
Alyce - Believe it or not, power tools make ME happy! I'm allergic to colones etc, and I love to tinker, so my wife has developed a keen eye for new router bits, jigsaw blades etc! May sound corny, but that's just me! Ro, CT etc, i cant belive we're back to the Holidays again! Where has 2004 gone?
Sorry about my earlier venting about obl! Please keep all in your prayers that the Lord's protection will be on everyone as they head to the polls. I'm heading back to eBay & to Avianweb.com to learn about the Yellow-Naped Amazon, I just got one the other day, he is at least 4 years old, but since he was an import, we don't really know how old he is, Amazons can be little monsters, so I need to know as little more about them. That is an awful big beak he has if he decides he wants to bite me cause of something I did.
See ya'll in a bit.

Hey Mavis! Ro's right, you sound stronger each time you come to the Porch.Take it day by day-I know it has to be so hard.
Yep,things are really bonkers these days, aren't they,MDC? Americans won't be scared away from the polls by ole Osama. Who DOES he think he is trying to sway our votes and all that? Woo- I'm getting riled up,so that's all I'm gonna say about that!
Heard something nice today via a lady at church who is good friends with the doctor who performed Laci's open heart surgery. He told her that he tries not to get attached to his patients, but he couldn't help it with little Laci. He said he just KNEW he had to fix that baby. He also told his friend that Laci was smiling and happy right before they put her under for surgery. That was so good to know that and how he felt about Laci. So many doctors come across as cold and uncaring, you know? Just thought I'd share this with y'all-heartwarming,for sure and no pun intended!
Well,I think I'm gonna sneak back over to the Remshaw Place and throw water balloons at Asa!
Y'all have a fun night!

I was so happy!

Good Mornin'! That was some night at the Remshaw place. Did anybody see any ghosts?
Yesterday was a full day for me! Church and fall festivals, etc...then my friend was in a jam and wanted me to keep her two children last night while she worked so the activities didn't end until pretty late last night and my 3 yr old was the last to finally fall asleep (must have been all the candy)! Do ya'll remember what it was like when you were kids and you came home after an evening of trick or treating and emptied that bulging bad of goodies? I still remember going through all the loot and sorting out my favorites. Can you remember what your favorites were? When I was a kid we didn't get all the good chocolate like the kids get now. I loved the round, purple gumballs and Sugar Babies and Slowpokes. Remember those Jolly Rancher sticks, they were kind of long and flat and came in green apple and cherry? Remember the wax lips and orange wax harmonicas?
Ok, no more time to stroll down memory lane. I've got to take my dad to the Neurologist this morning...hope they can help him. See ya!
November 01, 2004 - Msg 24740:
Does anyone remember the cinnamon toothpicks that came in a little cellophane bag with red stripes?
November 01, 2004 - Msg 24741:
Hey, I just remembered Astro Pops. They were those striped, cone-shaped suckers with the sharp point at the end that you could easily poke your eye out with. Never run with scissors or an Astro Pop!

Yeah, Mavis, I guess that might upset me more if I believed in curses, which I don't. And besides, look what happened to the RedSox like you talked about, they reversed their curse, we can all reverse this one. Just one more reason to vote this year!:)

Boo, believe it or not, we used to get a small 3 pack of candy cigarettes! I loved em, but have never smoked! Also liked the little wax coke bottles filled with sweet colored liquid. can still picture myself squishing them between my teeth!
We also used to get homemade popcorn balls, apples and pennies!
There was one house on our block where the lady gave out full size Baby Ruths! Ah, the good old days!
November 01, 2004 - Msg 24746:
I remember the homemade popcorn balls. They were good! And did any of you ever pull taffy? My mom used to mix up a batch of taffy, make everyone wash their hands really, really well, and then butter their hands and pull the taffy until it was firm. Then she'd stretch it out into strands, cut them with a buttered knife, and wrap the pieces in buttered wax paper. Good! Probably germy as could be, but we didn't care and no one ever got sick.
I spent the evening with my son and his family, and the little boys were so cute. One was dressed like a monkey, and the other was Spiderman, complete with little foam inserts that made his muscles, even a little six-pack of abs. Hilarious! My 6'5" son wore a "fat man suit", an inflatable thing that made him look hugely fat, and he was a hoot! He even practiced a waddling walk. Too funny!!

Oh, MDC! I remember candy cigarettes, and loved them as a kid. No, I didn't become a smoker. However, I had fun with them (the candy ones) once as an adult. When I first went to work as a nurse, 25 years ago, smoking was still allowed everywhere, including in hospitals. Patients and visitors smoked in their rooms, and nurses and doctors smoked in the break rooms. The nurses who smoked took breaks about every hour, sitting in the break room for five or ten minutes, while the rest of us confined our break to the one paid ten-minute break every morning or afternoon, our choice. No one ever said anything to the smokers, probably because our manager smoked as well. One day I had had enough of watching their patients while they took breaks, so I brought a pack of candy cigarettes to work with me. At one point, I went to the break area and sat there with that thing hidden in my hand. Our manager came by, and had the nerve to remind me that I had already taken my allowed break, and didn't I have something to do? I just smiled at her, put my candy cigarette in my mouth, and informed her that I was just "grabbing a quick smoke", the phrase used by everyone else to justify their breaks. Her jaw hit the floor, and my job hung in the balance for a few seconds, then she burst out laughing. She just closed the door, walked away laughing and never mentioned it to me again, but I think the point was well taken, because I did notice that the smoke breaks for everyone else because less frequent. I'm sure the other staffers wouldn't have appreciated my action, but the manager apparently didn't tattle on me, because no one ever mentioned it.
We're cool and rainy here in north Texas, and my yard is loving it. Pansies are perking up, brugmansia has about fifty bloom pods on it - will be spectacular in about three days, when the sun comes out. Well, off I go. Everyone have a good day. Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

I remember candy cigarettes..boy, if my child came home with that, I would go off!! Guess it wasnt a big deal when I was little, as my daddy smokes. I did experiment with the real deal though, later in life..(not too much later..11 years old!) Nasty stuff!
I think banning smoking in public places is the best thing yet too..and my husband works for a major tobacco company. (of course, they do own and make other things)
I remember..at halloween time...the waxed lips that you ate..They were so gross tasting, but you just ate it because!

Hey Mavis -nice to see you popping in more often.
Loved your smoke break story too, Ro! I have been to a taffy pull but its been close to 25 years ago. Lots of fun!
I remember purple cows - like sugar daddy's but grape. I always liked candy cigarettes too - had lots of family that did the real thing, but it never appealed to me.
My husband worked for a wholesale company that canned/bottled sodas when he was a teen and he said that the owners would give out cans of Dr. Pepper to treaters. We've never had a treater in the time we've lived in our house (almost 13 yrs) but we do buy something just in case - this year we bought some full size Crunch bars and 8 oz. Dr Peppers. I guess I'll have to take care of those later. ; ) My hubby also asked if I ever went out with two masks - to go back to houses that had good stuff without being suspect. Never did.
Hope everyone's feeling better at your house, Alyce. Sorry to hear what you all have been going through.
Prayers for spot, Mrs. Wiley, Pipeman and his Mrs., and anyone else who needs a special touch from the Lord.
Not much going on here - have had rainy and cool weather the last few days. Not quite ready for winter yet though.
God Bless All!

Candy cigarettes I liked, and never became a smoker either. I liked how you could blow and the "smoke" would come out. And then you could take them out of the paper shell and eat the rest of it! Ah, it was fun to be a kid before political correctness!

I told my husband I wanted to get a bunch of Bush stickers and plaster them all over my babies and let them run around the polls.
MDC:Sounds like a good idea about the DVD watching. Are these DVDs going to be available at stores or just websites??

I'm back. Been to the bank and the produce market, the Plum got her treat at the bank, so she's a happy camper. MDC, we actually had signs that read: "No Smoking. Oxygen in Use!" that we put on the room doors where appropriate. Can you imagine that it was ever like that? A few years ago, though, long after the smoking ban went into effect, we had a patient who would light up in his room, and he was on oxygen! We caught him several times, read him the riot act, took his cigarettes and matches away, but it did no good. He'd get his friends to bring him some more. He managed to keep from blowing his room up, but about a week after he was discharged he was brought into the ER with second and third degree burns on his face and chest. He tried it at home, with his bottled oxygen, and set himself on fire. Isn't that sad? That's one powerful addiction.
