Asa - prayers for you, too. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Alyce - hope your girls get to feeling better too! To do bold type, place < b > before what you want bold and < / b > after, just leave the spaces out from between the characters. Hope that helps.

Hope everyone has a great day!

The doors have been propped open most of the day, so the a/c is laboring to catch up, and the house is full of mosquitoes. I plan to spray, then barricade myself and the Plum in our room with a baseball bat and a shotgun, and maybe they'll leave us alone. I tell you, they are vicious! Will someone please tell me why Noah didn't swat those two pests when he had the chance, and save us all a lot of grief? I know, I know, but I still say that martins could have learned to eat something else.

Alyce, I was gonna answer your bold question, but I see AFD already took care of it. Folks are like that around here, quick to help one another.

Well... some of you asked about my love life..... came to a screeching halt and has dwindled to nill. But that's okay it doesn't really bother me. That guy that I was sweet on (Mason for those who remember Guy watch) is still sweet and I guess somewhere down deep I still like him but... well you know. He lives in Tallahassee now and goes to school for pharmacy. We talk on the phone every few months to see how school is going. Sometimes he acts like he really cares about me (i.e.-- He always wants to know If I'm going to go back to the FSU main campus... even went through the trouble of finding me a place to live with a friend of his last fall) but he's so confusing. He never hints at dating. GUYS! Can't live with them can't live without them ;). Anyhooo that's how it goes.

Alyce, I live in Michigan, I also am a stay at home mom with three chilluns, two of which are much taller than me these days!

Homemaker, I always used that term jipped, but I always assumed it was spelled gypped. Maybe a negative connotation regarding gypsies?!

My husband and I also use the terms "made the light" or "caught the light" regarding traffic singles. The funny thing is, we meant just the opposite of each other when we used it! To me, if you made the light, you got through it before it turned red. If you caught the light, you got caught by it as it turned red. As I said, my husband saw it just the other way and we actually got into a small argument over it once!

I guess it's bed time for me...y'all have a wonderful night filled with pleasant dreams of Mayberry!

Well yall have a good day tomorrow, its shopping and taking the baby to the Dr for my day..ALYCE

July 21, 2004 - Msg 22290: Howdy? Anybody here? Probably not, since it's 1:30 a.m. The carpet men didn't leave until almost midnight, but they did finish, and they did a really nice job. The carpet is beautiful. The house is a wreck. They put the furniture back in place, mostly, but all the little stuff is scattered all over the house, dishes sitting on tabletops where a china hutch had to be unloaded in order to move it, beds stripped and linens piled on top, and closet contents (including Christmas stuff) is all piled on beds as well. Oh, mercy! Will I ever have my home back? Of course I will. I'm just whining and feeling sorry for myself right now. I think I'm just going to shove it all into closets in the morning, make the beds nicely and put the sit-around stuff in place, and worry about the closets later. Like Scarlett O'Hara, I'll think about that tomorrow.

You know, my family has always used "gypped", to mean cheated or ripped-off, and I had never really thought about the origin of the word. I'll bet you're right, Mary Wiggins, about it having to do with gypsies. Now, there's an unusual group of people. No offense if any of our porchsters happens to be of gypsy origin, but I've had some experiences with our local family of gypsies, and they're pretty wild. A group of about ten invaded a garage sale I was involved in once, and things got pretty rough for a while. Another time, the matriarch of the local clan was hospitalized where I work, and at least thirty people descended upon our waiting area, plugged in coffee makers and hotplates, spread out sleeping bags - obviously prepared to stay. Our security force ousted them, and they set up tents on the hospital grounds! The police handled that, and they then parked three huge Winnebagos on the parking lot, set up a generator, and there they stayed, for over a week. The men were respectful to the staff, the women tried to be helpful, but their sheer numbers were overwhelming.

Well, guess I'll hit the ironing board. I've wound down enough now that I can sleep. Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

July 21, 2004 - Msg 22297: Ha! No, Sara, I am not expecting. My darlin' person (husband) has been "fixed". The labs were my rountine, every three months labs I have to have because of the medicine I take (check for liver damage, etc.).

I missed all the TAGS eps last night because we found out that my husband's sister, Linda has cancer. She had a lymph node removed last week that they thought was not cancer but it turned out to be so she was having a tough time yesterday and needed the support of her family. I just hate to see her have to go through the chemo and all. Breaks my heart.

I hear Erin crying so I better go. Bye!

Dixie, we are also doing Rickshaw Rally for Bible School. Has it been fun? I am just not into it this year..I think because of the baby and all. Last year I was pregnant, but we had a really good time. Last years was , hmm, cant think of the theme, but it was in "London". Where are you from Dixie? I have a few pregnant friends too. Got to get ready for a baby shower I am putting on...glad the talk is on, cause I sure forgot that I need to pick up stuff this weekend! Does anyone Scrapbook? ALYCE

July 21, 2004 - Msg 22301: I don't want to be a bummer, but I wanted to ask for your prayers because I know how well you all pray!~ I haven't said anything but I have really been going through an emotional battle for about the last three months and have kept it to myself (not always a good thing). I have just been having some tough battles with anxiety and I know alot of you have been there. I don't know if I should consider medication or what and I could really use your encouragement and prayers for relief and direction. I believe in the power of prayer and am at a low point right now. Thanks, you all mean so much to me.

July 21, 2004 - Msg 22302: Happy 80th Birthday Don Knotts!

The Snappy Lunch is mentioned in the episode "Andy the Matchmaker".

Boo - prayers for your husband's sister, Linda, and your family. Just being there to support her is a comfort, I'm sure.

Glad the carpets in, Ro. I'm sure it's nice, real nice. Nothing like the feel of new carpet!

hi - this is evie! (my 3 yo daughter wanted to write something - she just wanted you to know she was here.)

It looks like TVLand is going to air The Pickle Story after the Top Ten episode tonight. I wonder if that's the #1 episode?

Dixie - For bold, < b > text you want bold < / b >; for italics, < i > text you want italicized < / i >; and for color, < font color = "name of color" > text you want in color < / font >. Just leave out the spaces between the characters and it'll work.

Not much else going on, just trying to stay cool. Will probably go out with my little one into her kiddy pool later to cool off.

&the thing is, do we let the enemy think he's got us or do we say no way, and cling to the promises of the Living God!?! Boo, if you're having problems with anxiety, you know as well as I do that you need to see a doc and get on some medication. We nurses are a sorry lot. We know what to tell other people, but we don't do it ourselves. However, as you well know, anxiety is just another of the ailments that humans are subject to, no different from having a gallbladder attack or some such, and you need to be treating it. You've got that adorable little live wire, Erin, to chase, and sweet Sean to support and encourage, and you need to be in tiptop shape to do that. I know Mr. Boo helps you a lot - he's a dear - but still, you can't afford not to take care of yourself, too. So get thee to a physician! At the same time, ditto to MDC's words. God takes care of us, and provides for us, and sometimes the way he provides that care is through our physicians.

Well, my old chronic back spasm has returned, and all I can do about the chaos that reigns in my house right now is look at it. It should let go in a day or so, and maybe I can get things back to normal before I leave for Mongolia. If not, then I guess I'll just go to Mongolia walking crooked. I'm sure the Mongols won't mind.

I knew I was doing the right thing letting you all know I was having a tough time. After reading your comments I feel like I have been wrapped up in a warm blanket and given a big hug. Ro, I have been thinking about medication because after reading up on my son's problem with anxiety disorder, I recognized some of my own symptoms (that I have had since childhood). I don't know why I am hesitating to get on medication. Once you start taking a med for anxiety or depression can you go off of it after you have given it a long enough trial period, I mean if you don't like the affects? I think just about anything would be easier to deal with than this anxiety, though. Its not all the time but I have had bouts with it several times over the past 3 months or so. It only lasts for a day or two at a time but seems like certain things or thoughts trigger them. Anyway, thanks for the advice, concern and especially the prayers. I have been trying to think about the verse in Philippians often.

Boo

July 21, 2004 - Msg 22349: Boo: Hey dear..Let me tell you my story (I offered you to email, but I'll just go ahead and post)..now I am not saying we had the same "depression" or you're thinking "anxiety", but you might can relate anyway..I began feeling strangely after I stopped breast feeding my first born. I have a degree in psychology, and pretty much knew something was going on with myself, but because I was "educated" in that area as well as a new Christian, I didnt feel like I was in depression. Why would I be depressed when I have JESUS...I would tell myself..Also, I was where I wanted to be..wife and mother..something I had always wanted..I had reached my goal. I denied for several months. It was June when I stopped nursing her (she was only 3 months old), and it was November before I finally went to the DR. I had family and friends (one of each) who confronted me about things, but I blew them off, saying I was FINE. I didnt really get sad though, I got irritated, angry, no energy, lifeless, no s e x drive, VERY tired. I never neglected the baby, I took care of her, but most days were spent on the couch in my PJs all day..never opened a blind in the house or even walked to the mail box. Finally I went to the DR. It was kinda cleansing to go..I never cried until I saw my doctor and I let it all out. Anyway, she diagnosed me with PPD (post partum)and PMDD (premenstral dysphoric disorder)which is really just BAD BAD PMS. I was put on Sarafem, which is just pretty for Prozac..but I felt much better, lots of energy (finally lost some baby weight). She told me whatever I did not to go off of it cold turkey. It is a drug in which you have to be weaned off. Well, after a few months on it..my husband got a new job and we were also in the middle of moving (in w/my parents at that) So, because of the job switch, we didnt have insurance for a month or so..I ran out of medicine..and I was not going to pay $100 for it. So needless to say..I stopped cold turkey, in the middle of a move and a job switch. Very stressful situations, among other things going on at the time. But I did fine! And this last birth has been great..I am way to busy to get down and out. But you can change your meds midstream if they arent working for you..I'd suggest you talk to your OB/GYN. Anyway..dont know if that helped you or not, but I felt I should share it anyway. Feel better soon! ALYCE

July 21, 2004 - Msg 22355: I think that's a good idea, "Ernest T's Cuz". ALYCE, I will email you personally and let you know more of what is going on. I appreciate your being willing to share your story and offering to listen to me. I went to church tonight to a small group meeting with about 10 people and I decided to share some of what I was dealing with (it was hard to do because I am one of the ones who always seems to be "okay"--you know what I mean). I am so glad I did because they prayed some beautiful prayers over me and I felt at peace really for the first time today. They were so understanding and one man even told us about how he had suffered for years with anxiety and panic attacks after his best friend had been murdered. He was so sweet to share his journey and offer encouragement, and others did too. Everyone struggles at times but we are so slow to share our struggles. Thanks to all of you who listened and are praying. I covet the prayers of God's children so much.

Thanks again,
