Barney (all tensed up): "ANDY, WHY DON'T WE GO GET OURSELVES A CUP OF COFFEE!!"

February 11, 2004 - Msg 19284: Morning Folks,

Mrs. Wiley I took Barney's advice got myself a big cup of java.

I found a local web site (Holiday Valley Ski resort) with a web cam. I thought the porch might like to take a peek at the beautiful hills of Cattaraugus County.

www.holidayvalley.com/photos/webcam/panoramic.htm?

Pitchers and catchers start reporting on Saturday. So, that proves it winter is over.

If you interested this link may actually be better. It gives you your choice of camera as well as a local snow report.

February 11, 2004 - Msg 19286: Thanks for the grace, pipeman. We can all use that each day! Sun is shining here on my snowy porch. I find the sun so upliftin. Speaking of Lydia, MDC, we noticed her on another ep. the other night. Can anyone tell me which one?
Charlotte Tucker

February 11, 2004 - Msg 19287: You got me stumped Charlotte!
The ep last night was House Guest when Andy's "cousin" Gloria comes for a visit to get over her lost romance! Of course, helen gets her undies in a bunch over the attention that Andy gives Gloria! From one of Andy's lines, she's not really related to him. Too bad he didnt really start dating her! (haha)
One neat thing was to hear Andy sing "There is a time for us to wander" while on the FRONT PORCH!
In another recent episode, it began with Barney and Andy singing a Christian song, "When Sinners Lose All Their Guilty Stain." Too bad today's shows don't do that!

February 11, 2004 - Msg 19292: Hey to the Porch. SPOT, you be careful in that brown truck on Sunday. Man, them turns at Daytona are STEEP! Almost as steep as the ones at Texas Motor Speedway (did you hear about some'a them Indy-car boys takin' laps at TMS, and they stuck to the turns so good, the blood plumb RUSHED OUTTA THEIR HEADS and they got all dizzy! Now that's STEEP)!

Charlotte, I never would'a included you in the list of folks who don't say "Hey" to an old friend. Far as I can tell, you're one'a the friendliest folks on this here Porch, and I would NEVER say such a thing about you! And I thankee for the compliment about my singin'. I swear, I felt like I was gonna strangle with them dad-blame gubment clothes on. I'm just glad Andy changed his mind about that thing, and let me wear my overalls! :-)

MDC, that glider you reserved for me is a sight to behold! I thank you. Land sakes, but this place is gettin' modernized. Used to be a feller had to use his own legs to push a rocker (and I just LOVE that old creakin' sound, don't you?) but nowadays a feller's only gotta push off ONCE, and the chair does the rest of the work! I'm as tickled as a hog in three-day-old slop!

Hey, SPOT, who are you and your better half gonna go see at the comedy club? Me and my beloveded went and saw Jeff Dunham at the Improv in Dallas, and he was FUNNY! He does a ventriliqi... ventrilloqe... ventrilaqu... talkin' dummy act that had me and Charlene on the FLOOR! He's got talent, that boy.

Hey pipeman, thanks for the offer, but I b'lieve I'll let that crew chief position slide on by. I'm too slow in my amblin' to be any good to anybody in a pit area! You better get somebody that's younger and faster-movin' than ol' Rafe. HEY! I wonder what Ernest T is doin' on Sunday?

A special "hey" back atcha, Mrs. Wiley. Was that you I read about awhile back, about you bein' in the hospital and all? Bless your heart. I hope you're doin' better these days.

Hey to auh2o! I don't believe we've met. It's nice to meet you! Them pictures sure are nice. Thanks for posting them. I'm afraid that's as close as I'm gonna get to seein' that sorta thing though. 'Cause if I was to try to strap a couple of slick, waxed-up pieces of wood onto my feet and try to slide down a snow-covered mountain, 'bout the only thing that's gonna stop me is a rough, bark-covered piece of wood that's still growing at the BOTTOM of that mountain! No thank you! I don't wanna be a fast-skiin' dead man, I wanna be a LIVE ME! :-)

Hey again to Goober! You got WARMER weather in Chicago today? DANG. I wish it would warm up down here in Dallas. We ain't got no snow or anything, but it's been near freezing and RAINING for the last few days. And I'm sick of it, I am.

Hope ever'body's havin' a fine day.

I'll see ya.

Good to hear from you, and how's that fine set of pipes? How about singing something clear and sweet for us? And did you ever figure out what that thing was that you bought at the rummage sale for the Scobeys? Looked kinda like an Arkansas Do-nothing to me.

I've just gotta say a thank you to the good Lord. My friend and I were on our way out to a mall (Vista Ridge, Rafe, you know where it is) and we were stopped at a traffic light, when WHAM! Some young feller in a pickup truck failed to notice the red light, and with the wet streets, well - you figure it out. I think we're okay - will tell you more tomorrow after I have time to stiffen up - but her car is probably totaled. 'Course with these all-one-piece car bodies these days, you can total a car with a fender-bender. This was a bit more than that, because we ended up out in the middle of the intersection, so he hit us pretty hard. I think we were more scared than hurt, though, thanks to seat belts.

Well, guess I'll run. Prayers for everyone - parents, families, personals - He'll make it all alright one of these days. Sugarplum says hey!

February 11, 2004 - Msg 19300: Howdy Porch, Howdy Rafe, and everyone else!

Romeena, I was in one of them fender benders a couple years ago on St. Pat's Day. It was miserable weather, and a young man was passing me, (bad idea) and he lost control of his car and took me out too! I had two of my chilluns in the car, and we were spinning around like tops! Then we headed for a drop-off on the side of the highway, and thank God, we were going straight for it, instead of sideways like or we probably would have rolled! Amazingly, I was able to drive the car away after the accident, although it looked like a wreck!

My sister's car was totaled on the day I got married! She was on her way to my house to help me get ready for my big day. I wondered what was taking her so long, and then we found out someone had run a red light and hit my poor sister broadside. There she was in her bridesmaid dress, all dolled up, and she couldn't even get out of her car! Thank God again, though, she didn't even have a scratch!

Sure am glad to hear you are alright Romeena!

Spot, I can't understand how your ex let you get away! What with all the cooking and all you do;)!

Thanks for supper tonight, Spot. It was gooood!

pipeman and spot if you all are still looking for some help in the pit, I'd be more than happy to lend a hand...I'll be wearing my Daytona shirt and hat from the 1997 race. (My dad got them when he won a trip to the race from Chevrolet - he's a master certified mechanic for Chevrolet/Ford/Chrysler and over the years the companies have given all kinds of percs for making "master". Last year he and my mom got a cruise from Ford). Anyways he'll help out too if you need it. He also mentioned the incline on the turns at Daytona, Rafe. They had to have some doins' in the infield before the race and they had to walk across the track to get there and back. Plum wore him out he said.

Mary - how many 2 yr olds do you have and how often do you teach the class? I am nursery director for our church and work almost every service. I usually have about 3 between the ages of around 12 months to 3 yrs. They're cute but lots of work! :)

I'll be there at 6 on the dot, spot, for your grilled supper! You need your own cooking show on TV, with all the good grub you fill us all up with.

I was just sitting here thinking - What's everyone's favorite porch scene on TAGS?
Mine is in "Opie and the Carnival" when Aunt Bee and Andy are sitting on the porch just relaxing in the peaceful evening, and Andy asks Aunt Bee if she wants him to liven things up, then he starts howling and gets all the neighborhood dogs to howling back. I always get a laugh out of that scene.

Hey to Floyd! 'Preciate ya!

MDC - I believe I'll let the pineapples go by. Always been a plain french toast or pancake person. Syrup and butter on it, that's it.

Prayers for all.

February 12, 2004 - Msg 19335: Howdy, everyone! Thanks for all the good wishes, and I'm happy and grateful to report that I'm just fine, not even stiff or sore. I think the hot shower as soon as I got home after the wreck, and a couple of Advil along the way helped a lot, but mostly it was the grace of God that kept us from being hurt. More good news - the young man who hit us actually does have insurance!! In this part of the porch, you can't always count on that.

MDC Andy's favorite dish was leg of lamb. Remember how appalled Barney was when he learned that Helen didn't know how to cook it? He was so shocked that he absolutely forbade Andy to date her.

Well, gotta get ready for work. Everyone have a great evening. Spot, I wish I had one of your hamburgers to take with me. I get pretty hungry around 2 a.m., and there's absolutely nothing to eat around that hospital at that hour. I pack a lunch, but that gets tiresome. Oh, well, I'm grateful for a job that pays pretty well, and for the health that allows me to have an appet-ite, and for parents that raised me to eat anything and not to be picky. Baby Girl is into everything. Yesterday morning I fixed a nice cup of coffee for my husband to drink while her read the morning paper. I put in plenty of cream and sugar (the way he likes it). Well, after his first sip I heard him holler, "What's in this?!!". Turns out Baby Girl emptied the salt box into the sugar bowl the day before and I never caught her at it. It it's not one thing it's another. Today she smeared a tube of Desitin ointment all over a stuffed kitten (what a mess!) and I saw her trying to put a diaper on a G.I.Joe action figure. Strange child.

Gotta go get ready to watch TAGS. I got my new sofa today and its BIG. I plan to curl up on it with the kids and watch Andy. Love to all and glad you are ok, Ro. Thank God for that!

Oh, Boo! I feel your pain, too. ; ). My daughter came into the family room yesterday with the ends of her finger painted black. I asked her to show me what she got into -- she took my mascara and "painted" her fingernails. Uck!
She has also put corn up her nose, TWICE! and a piece of cooked elbow macaroni once. We got her to cry a bunch to make her nose run so the stuff would come out.

Goober, how did you like Legacy Five? I'm hoping my hubby will take me to see The Carolina Boys and Karen Peck and New River - they're coming to town in 2 weeks.

Good to hear from you, Asa. Continued prayers for you, your Dad, and your family.
