November 17, 2003 - Msg 16851: What part of the country are you from auh2o?

November 17, 2003 - Msg 16852: Hey Folks,

I think there were some misunderstandings going on around here. Let me try and clear up one of them.

On Friday November 14 a request to register the nickname "mr wakefield" at Miss Crump's was e-mailed to me BUT I was out of town being "Floyd" up North Carolina so I didn't have a chance to do anything with that. That means that the name was not registered by the person now known as "pipeman." He only REQUESTED that it be registered and never got an answer because I was gone.

I wouldn't have registered "mr wakefield" because there was/is already a registered nickname "Mr. Wakefield" so "pipeman" would have gotten a note from me stating that his chosen nick was the same as another users and he'd have to pick a new one.

I never had a chance to do that as I was out of town and all this other stuff went on. He switched from "mr wakefield" to "mr carter" and then to "pipeman" before I ever even saw his first request. ha ha...

There was never any confusion here at headquarters. "pipeman" was just forgetting the 'easy and slow' way of life we have here in Mayberry and got caught up in the "internet speed" world. Sorry about that "pipeman." I would have gotten to you today. So far I haven't even registered "pipeman" because I'm so confused as to the 3 name changes in 3 days. :-) "mr carter" and "pipeman" are just hanging out there for you to grab but you need to let me know which you actually want.

Sorry to talk about all this here on the Porch but I saw that it overflowed here and I wanted to clear it up.

Just so folks know, you DO NOT have to register a nickname to post at Miss Crump's. It only keeps other folks from being able to use your 'registered' nickname. A complete list of nicknames registered at Miss Crump's can be seen HERE.

I hope this clears the air and sets all the issues straight.

November 17, 2003 - Msg 16853: Thank you Floyd!!

November 17, 2003 - Msg 16854: Just as a note...upon further review the person known as "pipeman" IS registered at Miss Crump's as "warren"? HE is registered as "warren"...not somebody else? The name was registed on Nov 11th by "wattscats@...." (I left off the e-mail address to protect the ID).

You can use the name "warren" with the password I e-mailed to you on the 11th and you don't have to be "pipeman." PLEASE let me know what you want to do...my head hurts.

November 17, 2003 - Msg 16877: Dear Friends,
I watched The Class Reunion episode today. I remember thinking how old they were and wondering how long they had been out of highschool. Well I took note today and they graduated in 1945 and the show aired in 1963, so that means it would have been their 18 year reunion. Doesn't seem nearly so old to me now. I celebrated my 20 year high school reunion in 2001. Amazing how much younger they seemed after I realized that I am older now than they were then. Wow, talk about making yourself feel real old.

Good night sweet friends.

November 17, 2003 - Msg 16882: Just a quick update for those of you who have prayed for my daughter and to thank you: She was released on Friday night because the doc thought she was feeling good enough to go home. By Sunday night, she was back in the ER having taken too many meds. They released her this morning because she insisted it wasn't a suicide attempt and once again she is feeling fine. I know it will just happen again and again til some nincompoop in the med field realizes what her real problem is... but in this day and age, that isn't likely to happen so our family is on our own to combat the evil that has attacked our family. Please keep praying... we will need it for a long, long time. In the meantime, I will have say Adios for now... there are so many things that I must attend to. My pregnant daughter is also dealing with some anxiety that is making a difficult preganancy even more so. I can't believe how the devil is tormenting my family right now but, prayer WILL do him in! BTW, we did have some good news and thanks again for praying... that mass on my sonogram was a fluid filled 2c. sack is all. Everything looks pretty good there but the doc will be doing another sonogram in 30 days... a little extra prayer for that too please? Bless you all.. don't forget me too soon. I'll bring some pickles when I return! Have fun in Mayberry...love ya all!

November 18, 2003 - Msg 16883: Hey to the porch, sorry it's been a while. Had a lot goin on here. Thursday night was a rough one for me. We had a 16 year old boy get killed up here in a wreck. It has been very hard on all of us. We didn't know him but anyone who is in the medical field will know how hard it is loosing a patient especially one so young. I've been moping around since then. Then on Friday I went to a conert with Lynyrd Skynyrd and .38 Special, it was a blast. I had 2nd row seats and enjoyed every minute of it. I think that helped get my mind off things. Please pray for the families of the ones involved in the wreck. The driver is 16 as well and is facing manslaughter charges. He wasn't hurt but very shaken over this. Anyways, sorry to whine on you all, but you're always so good to pray about things. Thanks love ya's all--Salty Dog

November 18, 2003 - Msg 16884: Whoooeee! Been a busy little porch, hasn't it? I don't mind the little squabbles, though. Just makes us seem that much more like a family. The key can be found in a scripture I learned as a child: "Be ye kind, one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another." Even if you're not a Bible-believer, it's still good advice.

Spot, thanks for the boiled peanuts. They were scrumptious, I loved the little "bite" in them. (I'm one of those people who puts Tabasco on scrambled eggs. A lot of Tabasco.) I hope you enjoyed your chili.

Sorry you are having such a struggle, Clara, but it sounds like you have the right att-tude. My sister says that in spiritual struggles it is always toughest right before the victory. Keep the faith and may God bless and keep your family.

Prayers for you Salty and the families affected by the accident.

Yes, Ro, I am really looking forward to hearing your daughter. We are going to have a fine time!

As far as what I will be doing on Thanksgiving: I will be having the family over to my house. I will roast the turkey and make the cornbread dressing (under the supervision on Mom), and I will bake some pies. I am having other family members bring the rest of the trimmings. We should have a housefull and several small children as well. I live in a very close-knit neighborhood and everytime we have a family get-together we end of feeding half the kids on our block, too. Our yard is the one where all the kids hang out to play. I don't even park my car in the driveway anymore because I can't block the basketball thingy (I don't know what its called--its a hoop on a pole!) and getting from the street to the front door can be dangerous with all the neighbor kid's scooters, bikes and rollerblades strewn about the yard. I love having the kids around, though, and I don't have to worry about where my son has gotten off to.

Well, I think I will try to get a few more winks. Ya'll have a great day!

Every year I give thanks for the moment, for we never know what the next year might bring, and who might not be with us. I lost my Dad a few weeks ago, it makes it really hit home how things can change.

Such a heart breaking thing.

homemaker, I have had the coffee you are talking about. They sell it this time of year at a nearby gas station. YUMMY!

Did anyone catch the 3's Company-The Untold Story. I was flipping through the channels and wanted to see how well they did the charecters and if they resembled the actors. Well let me tell ya, the guy who did Don Knotts must be a TAGS watcher from way back in addition to 3's Co. cause he had Don down COLD. He even did the thing where Barney acted like he was doing Karate and said POW POW POW! Awesome. Ended up watching the rest of the movie just to see this guy do more Don.

Friends, please pray for my friend Jeanne. She's a neighbor to my son and DIL in Florida, and has become very dear to me. She had ovarian cancer a couple of years ago, treated, and thought she had won. We just learned that it is back. Jeanne is a wonderful, Christian woman and is much loved by all. We need her. Please pray for her recovery. I will be posting this same request on our "Prayers and Praises" site, but since some of you may not go there, I wanted to post here as well and enlist all the help we can get. Thanks, friends.

Tonight I still have all the extra children hanging around so I think we are going to fast food it, and let them run around in one of those play places! Yep, that's the plan, fast food it, and let 'em run around in one of those play places!

Prayers for Jeanne. I hope all is well for her.
No winds here in Utah. Sunny and and warm after 3 weeks of snow and cold. Funny hwo when the west is stormy the east is mild, but when the west is mild the east is stormy. Or maybe it's when the east is west and the mild is stormy.... now I'm all confused.
Anyway, y'all hang on to yer hats and yer toupee's if you are one of Floyd's regulars. LOL

November 18, 2003 - Msg 16913: tornadoes? Oh yeah you could say that. I am fine though. They said on the tv that a rain wrapped tornado was going to hit Marshall Space Flight center and south Huntsvegas (Huntsville). Went through the tracking. I had 10 minutes to make provisions, chase the boy and get to what little shelter this house provides. Get there and about 2 minutes later I hear this gawd awful noise and the house starts to shake. I then hear on the scanner. "Possible tornado just north of Mountain Gap." I said no kidding. (censored version). There was a possible tornado touch down about a mile of my house, they aren't sure yet. I say there was...I went through it. I may not be a registered expert but I am not stupid either. Afterwards, my mailbox was bent, my son's ride in car was on top of the swings. Limbs galore.(from the trees) mail gone from mailbox. chairs from my porch was at the street.

All in all. We survived by the grace of God and the Goddess and all of their archangels that I invoked. I feel blessed.

November 18, 2003 - Msg 16922: Pipeman, I'm not sure if Floyd has answered you yet, but I think I know the answer to yer question. Romeena mentioned it earlier on the porch. You have to post at Ms. Crumps EXACTLY like you registered. For example: If you registered as Pipeman (note the capital "P"), then later when you post you can't post as pipeman (note the small "p"). The way it's set up is it thinks someone else is trying to post as you if you don't do it EXACTLY the way you registered. Does that make sense?
Mayberry Girl and Floyd, I actually work with a lady who graduated from Huntsville High School! Small world, huh. (I'm from Idaho). Emma, I'm almost embarrased to tell you how I come up with all those quotes. I keep a notepad and pen beside my chair. If I'm watching a tape of Andy, and I hear something I think is funny, I'll right down the quote. Sometimes playing it back 3 or 4 times to get it exactly right. I've got a whole notebook full of quotes. My family thinks I'm totally nuts. And they may be half right.

Here's one of my favorites:
Floyd (to Barney, when Barn is flashing around a lot of cash):
"I suppose one of your kin died. That's always a terrible blow... no? Well, whatever it was is strictly a mans personal business. Stock market, was it? No? Did you win it on one of those game shows? "

I like ol' Fred, he's funny and all, and I wouldn't want him to go away completely, but TV Land is absolutely wearing me out with episodes of Sanford and Son. He's on three times during prime time every night, and last night he was on five times! And what about TAGS? Once during prime time. Once! Now I ask you, is that fair? I'd much prefer to listen to Andy and Peggy sing, or to Barney bragging about something, than listen to old gravel-voice call his son a dummy. Wish there was something we could do about it, but of course, there's not.

November 18, 2003 - Msg 16927: Hazel, you kill me! We finally know your secret. I don't think you are crazy because I have a good friend who I email almost daily and last year around Christmas time, we would use movie lines in our email subject lines. We were using the movie Christmas Vacation and I watched it a few times with a notepad by my side to jot down funny lines!

So sorry to hear about your friend, Ro. I will pray for her. God's most perfect will be done and may peace that passes understanding keep her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Amen.

So sad about the young ones dying in accidents. Prayers for all involved.

Glad you are safe, Mayberry Girl. We are about to get blown away even here in South Texas.

My condolences, KY Moonshiner. May the Lord help you through this difficult time, and thanks for reminding us to hold our loved ones dear.

I have a story you might apprectiate, Ro. My weinie dog, Mindy (who looks more like a summer sausage these days) was out in the front yard with the kids and me today, just sitting in the swing with me, when my neighbor from across the street let her two tiny chihuahuas outside in the front yard to do their duty. When Mindy spotted them she dashed off the swing and, being just as ferocious as she could be, she ran across the street to attack the offending Chihuahuas. Oh, she was brave! That is, until she got across the street and the Chihuahuas took out after her. She came running home as fast as her short legs could carry her and her tail between her legs, with two ferocious Chihuahuas nipping at her fanny. It was a sight to see. Hilarious! Dogs are something else (not selfish like giraffes). heehee

I have been wondering, does the plum really like baby carrots or are you just pulling our legs, Ro?

Better shuffle on over to the couch for some "down time". TAGS will be on soon.

Love to all,
Boo

November 19, 2003 - Msg 16948: Good Morning Porch,

Welcome to Shoe! There sure are a lot of good laughs and 'start your day with a smile' kind of things going on around here! I am glad you could join us.

I am just about out from under the siege of the nieces and nephew! I can only sit here and laugh just thinking about the last few days. The older ones are all at school right now, and the little one is taking a nap. HALLELUJAH! Praise be to God for little ones who take naps and I am absolutely, positively not kidding! I know I have mentioned here before that my brother is a widower, and if anyone has any single women they know who REALLY love kids...well, have I got a guy for you! LOL! Next Thursday my brother and his clan, and my other two brothers, and my brother-in-law, and an honorary uncle who is a friend of ours from church, will all be here for Thanksgiving. It is like that for Christmas Eve, New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and numerous birthdays, all the BACHELORS come here! Does any body know ANY single women who live in Michigan? We need to get some of these fellows married, so their wives can start taking turns! LOL! Oh, and don't forget my own now 20 year old son. Of course, the 6 year old, well...we'll wait a few years on that one! I never knew I was going to be a MATRIARCH! I always hated that word!

Enough of that rambling, I better get back to the duties of the day, cause I know tomorrow will bring it's own adventures!

Have a great Mayberry Day all!
