I'd have him tell you all how to make it, but them we'd have to kill ya and we kinda hate to go that far. I reckon them squeez...I mean syrup is good enough that we could forgive him for going off and leaving us to think that he done fell of the R.E.Lee Natural Bridge, and made us drag the waters and ever thang. So what do you all think. I think he even beats the sisters medicinal recipe they made out in their hot house. What were their names? September 10, 2002 - Msg 8915: hey homemaker...come on over to my house and we will watch Camelot. I never was that crazy about the Wizard of Oz. I guess it's cause the WW of the West always reminded my of my step- mother. Or my ex-step-mother that is.

Well I went plum wild at Big Lots yesterday. (No offense to the Plumster!) I spent $125.00 in no time. I did get my niece her Christmas presents. She is crazy about Kelly, Barbie's little sister.(I think) I got her a Kelly with a bunny outfit on and several outfits. That's little Charlene that I was shopping for. My darling boys will be quite the challange. They have EVERYTHING, and are so smart it ain't even funny. Charlene has everything too, but you can never have to many dolls. Her philosophy is .....You can never be to rich, to thin, or have to many Kellys and clothes. Actually I don't think she cares about money or being thin as she is only four, but bring on the dolls. So folks, help my out here. My darling boys are eight and six. They love music and Legos. But I think they have enough Legos to build the a full scale model of the city of Indianapolis. Konnor plays the guitar and Emory the fiddle. Last year I got Reagan a "tangerine" so she could join in the music. "Got time to breathe, got time for music."

So has anyone seen Camelot? It's a great movie. If anyone don't like WOO, come on over and we'll pop in Camelot. Come in your jammies as it's a rather long movie.

I hear women talk about how they are getting on with their lives, having to raise now fatherless children. I hear big strong men cry as they tell of the last moments they spent with a colleague before they chose different directions to seek an escape route. And I heard of a woman, just last night, who talked to her husband on the phone, saying their goodbyes and I love you's until she heard sounds which could only have been his building crashing to the ground as her world crashed around her. The sweet sentiments expressed over the last couple of days, the good-natured teasing, the wit and humor in the incants and all, the generosity in prayers offered for those who are hurting - you're all just the cats, you know that??
homemaker, I have a copy of "Arsenic and Old Lace", and I have a TV and VCR in my sunroom. If the gang wants to come over this weekend and watch TWOO, why you and anyone else who wants to can just watch AAOL instead. Got a couple of rockers out there, and a couple of recliners - you can get real comfortable! Now you might have to share space with a baby lizard or two - don't know how they get in, but they do. Find 'em all over the house in the summer. Little bitty pink guys, cute as can be. I trap them under an upended glass, slide a card or something under, flip the glass and voila! One caught baby lizard, unhurt. A quick trip outside and they're put in charge of de-bugging a flower bed.
Anyway, anyone who wants to come over this weekend, just come on. We'll rustle up some grub, got lots of tea and Pepsi, and can watch movies. Actually, I can set up a third viewing area in another room if we need it, like if somebody brings a copy of "True Grit" or something. I don't have that one. There are four TVs and VCRs in this house, so we're flexible.
Asa, I'm praying that God's will should prevail for you in your job situation. I know you've made yourself available for whatever He wants to happen, and that's all you can do.
There is still no definite news in our situation with the grandbaby, but it's still looking very grim. Please keep praying.
Thanks, friends, and goodnight. The Plum says hey! --Romeena

September 11, 2002 - Msg 8947: I too have shed many many tears today. Little Opie keeps asking me "Are you crying Mom?" Just to think about all those who lost loved ones on 9/11/01. Makes you appreciate what you have. May God bless our wonderful country and let us appreciate our freedom and the brave living and dead, who protect our liberty. Now let us go forward with new resolve and courage and show the world that we may be down, but never out. "That which does not kill us, makes us stronger." (Clarie Dupuee Steel Magnolias) And speaking of SM, that would be choice viewing one of these Saturday nights. I think it is in my top three movies list.

Be brave my friends. "Let's Roll!"

Gotta go, Toby Keith is on CMT singing Courtesy of the RED WHITE AND BLUE.

Your flag waving, tear shedding, liberty loving, country appreciating.....

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8948: Ok, I know that Toby says a bad word in the song, but he also expresses the feelings that we all have and need to vent. Only he gets away with it.
I do think they need a boot in the butt though.
f.g.

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8949: I have a copy of "Steel Magnolias", by the way. We can watch it anytime anyone wants to. It's one of my favorites, of course. Great movie, some superior acting done there.
I never considered myself a political "dove", but not really a "hawk", either, but after the events of a year ago, I think we need to adopt "Let's roll!" as our national motto, and do whatever it takes to get this country back where it belongs - on top! Someone has to occupy that position, and it had better be the USA, where freedom, individual liberty, opportunity and free enterprise reign supreme. If we don't move into that position, it will be filled by another country, or group of countries, where those rights do not exist. So, whatever it takes, Let's Roll! --Romeena

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8950: I'd like to add, not as an afterthought, but rather as deserving of its own space, the importance of the religious freedom that the USA represents. As Christians, we are evangelical. That's part and parcel of our faith. Muslims, too, seek to spread their beliefs, but there is a terrible difference. We offer our faith as a matter of choice. Unbelievers can decide to accept and be welcomed into the family of God, because of His love, or they can reject and go on their way. Muslims seek to impose their faith by force. God is a God of love, and offers peace, hope and love to those who choose to accept him. Allah is thought of by his followers as a fierce god who considers non-Muslims as infidels and instructs his followers to convert the infidels or eliminate them.
I have a friend at work who is from the Middle East, a former Muslim, who has converted to Christianity, and is attending a seminary, studying for the ministry. He can tell some chilling stories, believe me. Many Muslims do not realize that their religion ultimately teaches violence and force. At the level of the common man, the teachings which are found in the Koran are peaceful. At the level of part of the religious hierarchy, there is a vast difference. Misinterpretation has led many Muslims to the point of extremism that gave rise to the Tower attacks, and will continue to promote violence and death until that branch of Islam is cut off forever.
It has come as a terrible shock to me to learn how widespread the extremists are. Indonesia, the Phillippines, parts of Africa, and many other parts of the world are heavily infiltrated by these fanatics, and death and destruction are rampant. I always thought of Islam is something that people in the deserts of the Middle East followed, and had no idea that they were in the process of trying to subjugate the entire world.
Is it possible that God allowed the tower attacks to occur, to shake us up and wake us up to what is going on, to the world-wide threat that has been spreading like a poisonous gas all over the globe?
If we as a nation don't stand up and do something about it, who is going to? Let's roll! --Romeena

September 12, 2002 - Msg 8951: Good Morning Porch, Good to read all these posts about our freedom and our religon. I like "Lets Roll" too. My hubby would say lots of things confuse me! I know things will be the very best!

Arsenic and Old Lace would be fine too - anything but that movie with witches and munchkins and monkeys - and tornados! YUCK!

You all have burdens and issues going on in your lifes that probably make my little problems seem so insignificant, and yet here you are, ready to help out an old bugger like me with a ball of tin foil and green bullets and a gun that falls apart. It's nice to sit on this porch and visit with friends, and hopefully we can all accept each other, even if some of us have differing opinions about religion.
Boo, you called my favorite movie a sissy show! Them's fighting words. I may just have to give you a knuckle sandwich. I kinda hate to go that far. Everybody have a good day. And act like somebody.

Why don't we have a marathon TAGS night at Romeena's instead of bickering over all these movies! Sounds like a winning, idea, Charlotte! (Even if I do say so myself!)

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8970: Morning Porch. It's Friday! YIPEE! Found out yesterday my job is safe, just don't know who my boss will be so thank you one and all for your love and concern. Speaking of love, I saw Andy and Peg on the porch last night singing, I just gotta say they looked to be in love there. That entire scene was one of the best ever, and I think Andy was crazy letting her get away. There, I said it and I ain't taking it back.
We still on for Romeena's tonight? What movie did we decide upon, or is it gonna be the marathon? Let me know so I know what to wear and how to act. There is a difference you know, kinda like when Barn was showing Ernst T how to enter a room and wanting Andy to tell him what kind of gathering it was. I need to know that to so let me know please. I don't want to use the wrong amenities for the wrong occasion. That would emberrass me.
Prayers and hugs for all who need them.

I vote again for the TAGS marathon. To spend the evening in the presence of all you fine porchsters on Friday the 13th, watching Andy and Barney, well, nothing could be finer! I'll bring some chips and dip, (no, not Barney!, sides, he ain't no dip, he's a nut!)

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8975: I'm new in this town. I like it here and think I want to stay. Momof3

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8976: Hey Mom of 3 pull up a chair and get yourself a Mayberry name. We mostly use character names--some (like mine and Hazel's) which are rather obscure. Welcome! We're planning a TAGS (The Andy Griffith Show) marathon over at Romeena's house on Sat. night. We been trying to plan movie get-togethers here on the porch about every week lately. Hope you can be there in cyberspace. I'll bring the popcorn. Hey Dixie Belle, I took that Experiencing God class (by Henry Blackaby?) at church a couple years ago. It is very good. Hope you enjoy it. Is Mr. Right taking it too? I agree, Asa, Peggy was my all-time favorite. But Andy made a big mistake there not eatin' those snails. Escargot are my favorite food. Maybe if he would've eaten the snails ("I've stepped on a few in my time but I've never eaten any."), then maybe he and Peg would've gotten married. There would've been no chance for Miss snippy, grumpy, Helen Crump. There, I said it and I ain't takin' it back. (No offense to our Helen.) I better go get to work and hold my tongue.

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8978: WhoooEEEEE! Asa, I'm glad to hear the good news. A sweetheart of a guy like you deserves a break, and a good boss. If it turns out that your boss isn't nice, well, you just send him over to the porch, and we'll work him/her over for you.
You know, Asa, we think alike. I saw that ep last night with Peggy, and when they sang "Down in the Valley" together, you could just see it in their eyes - they were both falling in love. And wasn't that song just so pretty? Kinda clutched ya, didn't it?
We're on for tomorrow night as far as I'm concerned. I've got all the tapes, and four TV/VCR setups available, so we ought to be able to please just about anybody's taste. I'll make a big jug of plain tea for those of us who have to avoid sweets, and I've got a big pot of chicken mole (no, not a mole, it's pronounced MO-lay, say it kinda fast) and it's some kinda good. You serve it over rice, with a tortilla or two, and mmmmMMMM! It's good! So, come one, come all. Mom of 3, we'll find you a TAGS handle, and you're welcome to join us. Just pull up a rocker near the TV that's playing what you want to see. If you'd like to bring a little bag of baby carrots, my Sugarplum (my furkid) loves them and will be your friend forever. Everyone have a great evening now, you hear? Sugarplum says hey! --Romeena

September 13, 2002 - Msg 8979: Welcome Home Momof3, we'z glad to have you! This is a great place top get away from the real world. September 14, 2002 - Msg 8988: Mom of 3 here. I would love for you all to get me a TAGS name. Is Thelma Lou taken? I grew up on Andy Griffith and now my kids love it. We travel a lot in the Foreign Service, and TAGS really draws us together (unless we're reading and roasting marshmallows by the fire). AFN doesn't show TAGS yet, so luckily I got several shows on tape before I left. Anyway, if the "front porch" is anything like my grandparents' growing up, then I'm here to stay!

September 14, 2002 - Msg 8989: Momof3 again. I penned some more lyrics to TAGS theme song. I hope it's all right. I'd like to share it with you. Also, I'll be adding my great-grandmother's lemon pie recipe to Aunt Bee's cookbook. It's really special, and I don't mind sharing it with y'all!
-
Hey there, come down to Mayberry
And set a spell while Andy sings.
While he plays on his ol' guitar
you'll never wander far.

Come on in, join our lovely church
Then we'll go fishin' for some perch,
and we'll head back to sweet Aunt Bee's
for chicken, corn, and peas.

Settin' a spell.
Jawin' away.
Life is sure swell,
when you make time to stay.

So just sit back while Andy sings
on his front porch a pluckin' strings.
While he plays hymns on his guitar
you'll never wander far.

2nd verse

If you wander into the town,
you'll meet a smile and not a frown.
Come and take in a show with me,
we'll see an old movie.

Now let's head down to see the pond.
A moonlit night...what could go wrong?
Hey there's Barney with his young miss,
a tryin' ta steal a kiss.

Andy jes laughs
at Barney's face.
Thelma Lou's lips
all over the darn place.

Down in our town of Mayberry
where people stop to shoot the breeze,
Ain't got too much heaped on our plate
'cept stayin' out real late.

Hope you like it!
