Charlotte Tucker?? Present. There's my roll call, Asa. Salty, I wish I had your Fed Ex man. Mine don't like my dog (who can be kinda ornery to strangers but is truly loyal to his family). Salty, I just realized that you and I have another common bond--Pepsi! I can't get enough of that stuff! It's a love story that began when I was 16 and worked at a Tastee Freez. We could have all the pop and food we wanted while we was workin'. And we served this wonderful crushed ice. Crushed ice and Pepsi--there is no substitute! Speaking of my dog--he's one year old now and is nippin' at neighbors and relatives right and left. Doesn't bother us or the kids and once someone's been around a while he chills out, but it scares me when someone drives up and steps out of their car with him on the loose. (We chain him when we know someone's comin'.) I'm beside myself for fear he'll bite someone. Mavis, Salty, any help? Can some kind of obedience class help him? Hey to Ellen Brown, Hazel, Dixie Belle, Jelsik, Fun Girl, Helen, Mrs. Wiley, and Briscoe. Glad we've located Rock. Mavis, that pie was delicious but tell me ... what is FRIED apple pie? I made a lip-smackin' mulberry-rhubarb cobbler the other day. Was my grandma's (may she RIP) specialty! Where is it Romeena went to? Florida? Everbody seems to be goin' to Florida! We'll be takin' off July 20 for the Northwest! Never been there. Plan to visit hubby's niece in Oregon. Can't wait! Sorry I'm so chatty today! Off to pick up my son at basketball camp later today. He only called the second night. Hope all went well.
Somebody's probably gonna have to sweep again after all my ramblin'. Hot here. Have a great day!

Asa threw an eggcrate my way so I put it on my bed, you know the soft thingys that make ur bed comfortable. LOL.. Will so far this mornin I haven't seen no toren up flowers. Sam was hit by a truck & he got real skinny, so I'm letting him stay here till he mends & puts some weight on. He is doing better. My sister said this morning she is looking for a country home for him, now ifin I get attached to him, it will just do me in to let her give him away, but he is her dog and ifin he don't leave my pond & flowers alone that would be best for both of us u know, but ifin he gets use to me, that will hurt him to leave, he is so frill and all, u know. but he is looking better each day. What should I do, he is a good dog, he is sweet & kind and FRILL. Mrs Wiley through out this day I will say a prayer about ur job . For God to lead & direct you to the one just right for you. The Green Parrot is good too. Only a $1 to forget yourself there. I didn't see Otis though. If you haven't yet, get down to Key West. Plenty to do. And plenty of places to do nothing. Fins up!

BDJ-Speaking of Cheeseburgers in Paradise, we went to the Buffet's in Orlando last summer. Good eats and an awesome gift shop. The hubby and I had to have a shirt of course. Sounds like our tastes in music are alot alike. I like almost anything except opera. Boy the porch is hopping today. "Fins to the left, fins to the right and she's the only girl in town."
Mayor Pike--Get a grip. I don't recollect you being a particularly fine specimen of a man, but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
They must have a purty meter at FED EX to decide who they hire, because the guy who delivers to our school is a sight to behold, and just as nice as he can be. Wonder where how that guy got his idea to carry milk-bones. Not only is he purty, he's got brains too.
Have a great day to all my porch sitting friends.
Hey maybe all Rock's success in the WWE has gone to his head and he doesn't have time for his good old pals here on the porch. Nah, I know his mama raised him better than that.

Hey ya'll! I am needin' this dog advice bad. My Otie (named after Otis Campbell; Our last dog was Andy) is trying to bite all my friends and relatives that come here. He's just ornery but he's the sweetest thing to his family. We love this dog. Tried to have a lab after Andy (Annie). She was a livin' nightmare. 'Bout like the dog Ellen Brown spoke of. That dog ripped the sump pump hose off, stole all the floating plants out of my water garden, dug up my bulbs, and chewed big holes in the kids' swimming pool after I had just cleaned it and let it dry to put it away for the season! She had to go. I gave her away. Salty, how do you handle your dog that don't like strangers? Chain him? Pen him? What? I like to just let Otie run loose cuz we live in the country and he stays home, but I can't have him bitin' someone and gettin' sued! I'm going to talk to a trainer. We have 4 new baby kittens--2 stripes and 2 gray and white. They are adorable! All this talk about Fed Ex and UPS men! How can you all even look at those purty men when we have Mayor Pike in our midst?!

Good Sabbath Porch! Salty, I don't know how you keep up that pace! Welcome newcommer, maybe we should call you Ms. Senior Mayberry! That monologue was a CLASSIC, I hope someone here will be able to help you find it online. Charlotte, I think the sign is a good idea. May prevent you from being liable if someone does decide to sue. I had a Chow, and we'd just put her in a room if someone came over that we didn't want her to be friendly with.
On the road again,
~ Mrs. Wiley
June 23, 2002 - Msg 7570:

June 23, 2002 - Msg 7572:
Evening Porch! Been a busy one on our porch this weekend, we have had company all week-end. As for the dog sign, I would put out one of those signs that say something like 'dog lives here' some thing like that, I have seen them at dog shows if I can find a place online that has them, I will email you the link.
Off to the ironin board here,

Thanks to everybody for the dog advice. The trainer still hasn't returned my call but my little girl wrote up a sign. Sorry the younguns is fightin', homemaker. But I can relate. A couple that we've been friends with forever came over yesterday and their entertainment was sittin' in our living room watchin' our kids out the window fightin' with eachother in the pool. They were getting a kick out of it since it wasn't their two boys! Much to do. 2 weeks until the 4-H fair and the kids have many projects left to do.
June 24, 2002 - Msg 7582:
Miss CT - we are going to a neighboring county fair on Wednesday. They are showing some goats that has our buck as their papa. It will be just few years before mine get there but we already know they are taking goats - LOL.
Best Wishes on your children's fair projects - I am sure your hands will be full of last minute errands in collecting this and that.
Thanks Asa for taking care of Hazel - she just ain't been right since you wacked her with that golf club:). Glad the rest of you enjoyed the treats (SD and CT).
I'll rock with you later - off to get goat feed.

Mavis, yer a caution I declare. How are you? Way to quiet, I know that.
Is everyone having a good Monday so far? Your sure being quiet. I'm tempted to start singing here purty quick.
June 24, 2002 - Msg 7587:
Hey everybody! We are back from FL. Mavis I looked all over the place down there for you, Romeena and the Plumster. Thought I saw Plummy one time so I offered her a carrot, she didn't take it so I knew it wasn't our girl.
We had a blast, rode bikes, wave runners and boogie boards. We beached a couple of days and walked a lot. We had to, had to walk off all of those big suppers! Speaking of food, I brought everybody some shrimp back. Ya'll please come get it fast before it smells up everything.
Floyd, did you have a good time at the Squad Car Nationals in Brent Sat.? We were planning on going and was so disappointed that it was the same weekend as this trip. I saw it in the paper and it looked so neat! I especially wanted to see Betty Lynn. Oh well, maybe next time.
Good to be back home on the porch. (((everybody)))
I missed you.---Helen
June 24, 2002 - Msg 7588:

Hot here, but there is always a breeze on the front porch. Sure have enjoyed it. Was worth every penny we paid for it. Plenty of room for all the rockers! Come on over and grab a glass of cool lemonade we just made... ~New Neighbor

June 25, 2002 - Msg 7598:

And I have to have something crunchy when I have a sandwich so hows about potato chips and celery sticks to go with it. My fav. chips is the BBQ flavored but if any one has a preference let me know. June 25, 2002 - Msg 7604:
Thank you, thank you kindly! I try to live every day so that on June 25 people don't mind celebrating. After all I am a fun girl. Hey Mavis, you did such a good job on DOOLEY, can you sing "Never Hit Your Grandma With A Great Big Stick." That 'un makes me cry, and as I am 39 today, a few tears may be appropriate. (If you don't know that one how bout Put Your Money In Your Shoe and It Wont Get Wet. (and a one and a two) My darling boys and Charlene are coming into town today. Guess they will stand by the horse trough to fill their radiator. They drive a Chevy van. Wonder how many hat fulls it will take to fill it up. Hope they are careful coming over the Robert E Lee natural bridge. (that's one of my favorite lines. LOL)
Yes, Asa you can sing sweetie. But Barney....why don't you go look for jay walkers. We love you, but you can't sing, not a lick. There, he knows now and poor Fun Girl had to be the one to tell him. Thanks to all for the birthday wishes. I'll sign in later and let you know how the day went.
To all those dieting, have you tried the Weight Watchers ice cream sandwiches. They only have a 1 1/2 grams of fat and they are YUMMY! But I believe they can become addicting, so easy does it. I think that is what I will have instead of birthday cake. I may even stick a little candle in it.
June 25, 2002 - Msg 7605:
Happy Birthday Fun Girl! You're at the age where nobody believes you. ;) Hope you have a great day!
Salty, lunch sounds gooood. I'll brang an extry sack of bbq chips.
Hope you feel better DB. Here some little blue pills for ya. @@@@
Welcome to the new one. Always plenty of room here on the porch.
I sure do miss Romeena and all of Sugarplums antics. I think I'll mess up around here, just to make her feel needed when she gets back.
(Now if Clara just doesn't come along and clean up.)
Well off to mop. I feel awfully needed around here. ;) Have a good day everybody, especially you FG!--Helen

June 25, 2002 - Msg 7609:
Hope Fun Girl is living up to her name. After all, your own personal birthday only comes once in a year. (But Asa likes to have more- more parties and gifts, you know!) Who has the crock? With this heat, I'm sure it needs a good cleanin'. Bring it on over and I'll give it a thorough scrubbing. I'll have to empty it first! Salty- can ya give me a hand? (or are you busy with you-know-who?) Thanks for the good lunch. ~New Neighbor
June 25, 2002 - Msg 7610:

June 26, 2002 - Msg 7616:
Good morning Salty - just sent hubby off to work but the good thing is he'll be home in 4 hours so we can go to the fair. My boys are looking forward to the first county fair of the season. Talk about dusty - it will be dusty there.
We a got a bit of rain here yesterday - cooled things down a little, it was a welcome site for a bit.
How's the mood in Utah this morning Asa - I heard on the news they have some new suspects in the Smart girl's disappearance. I have this feeling she isn't going to be found alive. If not - we know that she is being taken care of by Jesus. A sad situation.
Everyone have a good day on the porch.
(((Hugs for all)))
June 26, 2002 - Msg 7617:
Morning porch. Hey homemaker, things are kind of sad around here. With each passing day the chance of her still being alive diminishes more. It just breaks my heart to see what the parents are going through. At the start of each news conference they will speak first, and the Mother always directs her comments towards Elizabeth, telling her to hang on, there coming to get her, and to be strong, and reminding her of some personal story of motivation. It just tears at you. May God bless that family.
Anyway, hope all of you are well. Thanks for sweeping AngeFan. Welcome to skippy. Jump in here anytime.
I guess with Salty working I'm gonna have to be on my own for lunch. Anyone want to go with me to the diner? The special is a hollered out tomater, filled with avacodo and raisins. And it's goooooood. Maybe after that we can go over to the theater and watch them change the marquee. Thats always fun.
Hey to Jelsik. Glad you thought I am funny, lord knows I try.
Hey to Mavis. Good to see you. Your still to quiet dear.
And Mrs. Wiley, how are you. Hows the job situation? Boy thats a good looking y in your name. I wish I had a y in my name.:)
Later all, God bless.
June 26, 2002 - Msg 7618:
Back from Ky. It sure was a long day yesterday. Back to work today. Coffee, tea, milk juice, eggs, bacon & toast r on help ur self. Pray u all have a great day in the Lord. (((()))... Ellen B.
June 26, 2002 - Msg 7619:
Welcome to Skippy! I I'm no longer the youngin' here:)
Ya'll sure are make a real mess for poor ole Romeena!! I hope she has here broom and duster ready!
Well it's raining here. we could use it but I hope it doesn't rain tonight or I don't know what the Bible School kids will do for Recreation! I guess 'll leave that up to the recreation teachers! Last night in Crafts we made candles with coffee beans. I hope it smells as good a s freshly made coffee!
Well gotta go get some stuff done. Ya'll be good and try not to wreck the place while I'm gone..........I like to be in on that stuff ya know;)

June 26, 2002 - Msg 7622:
Don't work too hard today Ellen B. and thanks for the breakfast. It was extry good!
Asa, you could use Asy for your nick-name.That way you can have a Y. :) I'll go with you to the diner, but I'll pass on that special. YUCK! I might get me a 'mater samwich though. Breakfast with Ellen B. and lunch with Asa (or Asy) anybody fixin' supper? Might as well make it 3 for 3!
Welcome Skippy, this is a good place and good people here. Glad you're here.We ought to make you Citizen of the Day!
Now AngeFan, I was worried about Clara cleanin' up and here you come and sweep up. You beat everything, you know that?
Our friend that was running for State Senate, won last night! What a night. We could see the Lord's hand in this all the way. It's amazing to watch him work before your eyes! Two of his opponents had almost $600,000 collectively, plus all of the PACS supporting them. Hank had approx. $23,000 for both races and still won handily! PTL! We could use a lot more of his kind.
Asa, I'm still praying for Elizabeth. I'm hoping for the miracle of a safe return. I'm like homemaker, sometimes I doubt she'll be found alive. I know God is able though. (((All the children)))
Ya'll have a good day. --Helen
June 26, 2002 - Msg 7623:
Hey DB you snuck in on me. I'd love to know how you make those candles. Love to smell coffee, but hate the taste. Wonder what causes that?--Helen
June 26, 2002 - Msg 7624:
Hey, porch. Sorry Helen. But didn't it look clean? Can't beleive you made such a mess. YUCK!
Hey, Skippy. Welcome to the porch. DB, it looks like you never had been the only young one. I made my Mom never tell who I was or my age. I decided to tell you that:
I am 10 yrs. and Helen's son, and only child. I think she ata' be proud to have a son like me,;-) tho' she wored me out for cleaning the porch (7614). Hey, she always taught me to be clean. I'm suprised, she told me to MESS UP again.
June 26, 2002 - Msg 7625:
Good morning, everybody! Got home last evening, too tired to do much besides read some of the archives. Am all caught up now - thanks for your kind comments along the way. Nice to know we were missed. We had a lovely time, rained every day, but beautiful anyway. My son's home is so lovely, and the landscaping is gorgeous. The back lawn just sweeps down to the wetland that runs between the lawn and the lake. The wetland is a strip about 100 yards wide, with a wooden walkway over it, so you can get to the dock. The lake level is very low right now, so the rain was badly needed. We just sat in the covered area on the lanai ("patio" to most of us) beside the pool, and watched the rain sweeping over the area, making everything so green and beautiful. Picked grapefruit right off a tree by the lanai - sweet and delicious. A friend dropped off a box of fresh peaches - we made ice cream (to the detriment of my blood sugar) but it was goooood! We never even launched the seadoos, didn't quit raining long enough, but was OK. My dad would have wanted to ride one, and it would have been a delicate thing to try to stop him without hurting his feelings. He had a good time, mostly dozed in a chair on the lanai, but seemed to enjoy it.
Sugarplum, the lazy little lout, spent most of her time atop a pile of ruby-colored throw pillows in the den. From there, she could see into most of the rest of the first floor of the house, as well as having a good view of the lanai. Thus if any food was present, she could go claim her share. She received the nicknane "Princess Ruby Pillow". My son's spaniel, Abbie, was thrilled to have someone shorter than herself in the house, and spent a lot of time herding the Plum around whenever she left her pillows. What a hoot they were.
Now, after reading the archives, I have one big question. WHERE IS TOM?? Not one poem, not one word from that boy! Has anyone checked on him?
There's a lot more to say, but this grows too long. Prayers for those in need, praise for those who are trying to help others, welcome to newcomers, and much love to all my friends here. Sugarplum says hey!--Romeena

I saw a lady last night that looked a whole lot like Betty Lynn. (as she looks now) Mom and Daddy decided to play a joke on me. They told the lady to act like she was Betty Lynn when I went up to her. They told me that Thelma Lou was in the building. Of corse I went up to her she said, heh "Hi, I'm Thelma Lou."
They eventually told me in wasn't her.:-)
