March 10, 2002 - Msg 5559: "Trouble Check"

March 10, 2002 - Msg 5560: Hey to Emma, Asa, and *Dick! Quiet here on the porch today. Our boys got 3rd in the tournament. Hubby did a fine job of coaching them to play like a team. Had an Andy moment--He said the first place team gets to keep the brackets (poster from the wall). I said, "What would you want with that big thing?" He said "To remember." Made me think of Gomer talkin' about takin' a picture of Goober under the hood of Malcolm Tucker's car. "He deemed it a privilege to get under the hood of that fine a machine." Have you guessed yet that Man in a Hurry is my all-time favorite episode?! : )

Glad things have quieted down for ya Salty. Sounds like Grandma is doing better. Glad to hear that. Yer biscuits sound good but yer description of yer gravy is...a... well...hmmm...not so good. So we will leave the gravy makin to someone with a little more experience. No offense intended.I just don't happen to like my main dish concealed in a HEAVY sauce.
Hey to Frankie Flint. Ain't seen you around these parts in a while. Pull up a rocker and sit a spell.
Sorry I missed that concert Emma, sounds like fun.
Well off to bed for me cause I got work to do tomorrow. Ya'll be good now.

March 10, 2002 - Msg 5566: Hey there, *Mavis! Yep, still listening to that Buffett feller. His new cd is out in 9 days and I'm about fit to be tied waiting to hear it. LOL!
Charlotte, my little one came in 3rd in the Science Fair... got her a neato ribbon and everything. I somehow abstained from wrecking the other kids' projects, but it weren't easy. None of them were any good, of course. Not a lick. :-)
Prayers for all who are battling the flu. I hope and pray you're over it, and soon! I had it last year and was walking crooked for weeks.
Continued prayers for your cousin, Salty Dog. He's come so far... I pray he will make it. Please keep us posted. I'm glad your Grandmamma's back home.

March 11, 2002 - Msg 5575: Well - it seems that the porch is in fine shape this morning. . .all seems right with the world. We welcomed a new "kid" to the place - lost one due to the cold but one is hanging in there. I think I am naming her either Brownie or Allie - her momma is Fudge (Fudge Brownie, get it - or Fudge Ala Mode!).

Remember to take 5 and remember the families of Sept 11. CBS had a great documentary last nite - very touching. We are watching a firefighter video to remember.

The school is back in shape - it seems that the flu has swept over us and we are all on the mend.

The biscuits sound good. I made a big pot of pulled beef BBQ for supper. It cooked all nite in the slow cooker. MMMM good supper is a waitin' - any takers? Not that my boys would share.

Good to see some new faces on the porch - this porc was built just right for all the company it gets. Welcome Dick and Joanne. Greetings to Asa, Rock, Mavis (hope your head is better), Charlotte, Mrs Wylie, Hazel, Frankie, Des, Salty, Floyd, FG, NN (whereever she is), and hopefully Miss Ellie will thaw out soon). . .and Merle Deane too...and hopefully I didn't miss too many . . .and , oh SUGARPLUM, how are you dear?!

March 13, 2002 - Msg 5623: Howdy-do, friends! Been gone for so long, I almost feel like a stranger. My dad is recovering very well from his stroke, we had someone staying with him for the past week, but released her after tomorrow. He's walking fine, thinking is still a bit muddled, but it was that way before. He does have Alzheimer's, after all. I'd say physically he's the same, mentally he's lost just a bit, but still functional. Phone call reminders (meals, etc.) help a lot. We'll move him into the first available opening in a$$isted living, but that could be months.
I've been out of place, my aunt passed away down in San Antonio, and I dragged my sore self down there for the funeral, and a couple of days with my daughter. Nice retreat, but tiring. Funeral was a praise service, really. She also had Alzheimer's and had known no one for months, so - a blessing.
Sugarplum was pitiful. When I brought my suitcase out she started rejoicing, thinking she was going along. I left her with my granddaughter, though, and she has been glued to my ankle since I returned. Poor baby.
I'm glad all the flu-ey folks are better, and Salty, I hope your cousin and grandma continue to improve.
It's good to be home and back on the porch. Have a great evening, friends.--Romeena

March 14, 2002 - Msg 5653: Afternoon, friends! Just passin' by, on my way over to my dad's to set up his little daily medicine boxes. Sure hope he can handle it. He's not supposed to take anything unless I'm on the phone telling him to do it, and that has been working. Hope it still does, after the stroke.
Another obstacle - my neighbor and friend has done my yard for the past five years, for a fair fee, and now his own daddy has had a stroke, so he has to go over and help his mom every evening, and won't be able to do my yard any more. Woe is me! He has cared for my yard like it was his own, and it's beautiful. Too big for me to do myself, my "local" son lives too far out of town, so guess I've gotta find somebody else. Drat!
Asa, that wake-up song this morning was er, um, notable. Got me awake and moving, that's for sure!
Salty Dog, you go right on and sign your full name, hon. The Plum doesn't mind. She has never related the "d" word to herself, and only gets huffy when someone else tries to apply it to her.
Well, gotta run. Have a great day, folks. Sugarplum says hey!--Romeena

March 14, 2002 - Msg 5654: Just like old homeweek- yep that's what it is, just like old homeweek. March 15, 2002 - Msg 5681: Hey Folks,

I know you can get a bunch of Mayberry Bible Study lessons from the GREAT site by Joey Fann (BarneyFife.com but do any of you have lessons you've created for episodes OTHER than the one's on Joey's site? If you do, I'd like to ask that you e-mail them to me (anewsome@aol.com) so I can put them on a site here at Mayberry.com OR to give to Joey to put on his site as "extra material."

I've been teaching the class for 2 quarters at my church here in Huntsville and I'm getting close to running out of lesson plans. I've made one and plan on making others but I thought if other folks had already made them...why not collect them into a single place (BarneyFife.com would be the best place for them but I'll have to talk to Joey about it first).

Anyway...I'm willing to collect them and post 'em back where folks can find 'em so send 'em in.
